In the shadows, vision can turn blurry. Truths can become lies. Enemies can become lovers. When Violet inexplicably wakes thousands of years after a nuclear holocaust, she finds the world very different. Fae exist now. They’re vicious, animalistic monsters who pervert magic and can morph into any shape—including vampires. They hoard the bounty of the new world, and keep humans banished to the wasteland. Munro!!!
Where do I begin? Oh I know….She’s back Bitches!! In case you wasn’t aware Kresley Cole has done it again with her Immortals After Dark series. Munro has a beginning, middle and ending with each part taking you on an emotional ride. I patiently waited for this book for years and let me tell you that she did not disappoint. The book picks up where we left off at the epilogue of Macrieve. We were already told the back story of their parent’s death and how Munro really was his brother’s keeper. First it was Hot and now we learn about Hotter. He’s waited for his mate for over 900 years and where he finds her is the least expected place. Ren, Munro’s mate is not buying the,”You’re my mate spiels”. Especially since she’s already MARRIED!!! Hot damn the drama begins. There are Witches, Warlocks, Warewolves and we can’t forget Lothaire, oh my. You will not be disappointed with this 14 hour listen. When you’re done listening you’ll feel like it was too short. Robert Petkolf as usual brings the characters to life. I can listen to him all day.

Series Has Jumped the Shark
I really enjoyed the early books in this series. But after "Lothaire," the author seemed to run short of ideas and fell back on overuse of two tropes--time travel, and multiple planes of existence--that can be real pitfalls (or shark jumps) for paranormal stories (as well as for science fiction, but that's a different discussion). Both of those tropes are on display in full and misused glory here.
Kresley Cole used time travel cleverly and successfully to craft a unique and highly satisfying ending to "No Rest for the Wicked," book 3 of the series. It is a major plot driver of Munro, but here it is convoluted, even downright irritating.
As to the use of multiple parallel planes of existence: admittedly, there was a sense of parallel worlds even in the early books. But after Cole used them successfully (Demonarchies and Portals) in Books 6 and 7 ("Dark Desires after Dusk" and "Kiss of a Demon King"), the number of different planes proliferated. How can the reader enter a satisfying fantasy world when every apple cart we've established in that world can be upset out of nowhere by an author saying, in essence, "Oh, and here are a bunch of characters from a whole new world and possessing a whole new set of superpowers. I'll just make up their rules as I go along."
These and other factors (like seemingly omnipotent villains that are suddenly and inexplicably defeated by the good guys at the last minute--a trope that has pretty much destroyed action movies for me) undermine the "willing suspension of disbelief" that is essential for enjoying fantasy and action-adventure. Even though I didn't enjoy the last couple of IAD books I read, I guess I was hoping that the 5-year gap between titles had allowed the author to get back on track. No such luck, I'm sorry to say.
Can't give this more than a mediocre rating, even if you were once addicted to the series. Unless I hear that Cole comes up with a boffo (and satisfying) Nyx story, I'm done with these books.
P.S. Robert Petkoff remains a great choice for narrator of this series. Good job on subpar stuff, Robert!

Should have skipped this one
This series is one of my favorite in this genre due to Ms. Cole's wit and the quirky styling of her characters. There's usually a flavor to her verse that is a real delight to digest.
I did not feel that with this book at all. I don't think I can blame it on the narration either because this was one of the better readings I've heard on audible, minus the female lead's accent. Unfortunately, she sounded like she already had one foot in the stereotypical grave. I will give credit where credit is due, the narrator did sound like a woman even if I wasn't sold on the vocalization choices.I did enjoy Munro's voice though. It was very easy to listen to. Unfortunately, the story just didn't do it for me, and I had to force myself to finish it.
I wouldn't recommend using a credit on this one. I'd wait for it to come out at the library. If a ghostwriter was used for this book, may I suggest finding a new one that can better capture the essence of this series? If a ghostwriter wasn't used, perhaps reading back through the series might percolate the original flow and get the zany, audacious juices flowing. I know styles change over time. Especially when writing for multiple series. This book was sadly missing the heartbeat of the series and Nyx seemed so very un-Nyx like. Though I did get a chuckle at the scene with the young witches. I would of enjoyed an entire book of that a lot more than I enjoyed this.
I sound like a grumpy old lady. Tell me I'm not about to start demanding authors take their words off my book pages just because I have a few wiley chin hairs that like to do spidersilk impersonations and glint in the night!
Please, whatever you do, when you write Nyx's story, don't hold back on the usual attitude and spunk. Use every speck of light across the night sky to shine a spotlight on her mesmerizing personality, even if she's exhausted, two coins left of a coo clue, and just ready to throw in the bat. (Poor Bertil Wertil. I didn't mean it!) That character has danced across this series leaving a flickering trail of confusion, gratitude, courage, changed minds, and conquered hearts in her wake. She doesn't just deserve her own lightning laced red boots and purple hat spun of some kind of ground up, fool encrusted, nymph inspected demon horns that Lothaire unadmittedly lost in a game of poker with a Gravewalker, or maybe it was a grave stalker. He still refuses to say. She deserves a chocolate coated Oscar that's all the right kinds of grouchy and only calls her "Nucking Futs" when she's Nïxing his socks off and demanding he say her name like he's meme'd it. The spunky old proto-Valkyrie has taken us for a wild ride on this windy whirly immortal road trip of a series, and I hope the spirit of her pedestrian Pogo petitioning selfie will somehow pounce the half-dead flames stuttering on the page's of this book's rendition of her back to a Jiffy Lube that never had the good fortune of seeing her coming. So that they can do the Lore a service and align her fronting with her toodle, and we can all get intoxicated on the fumes of the inferno of possibility that is Ms. Cole's delectable imagination, and she can feel the invigoration of immersing herself back into one of the most memorable, forgetful characters in this entire genre. (Just as I wrote the word "genre" I got a mental image of the ever-knowing fate defiler, or maybe that should be "duh filer", at the Jiffy Lube seated atop the misaligned Lykae filled Scooby van with Bertil and singing her version of the Debbie Boone song that everyone's had to of heard being belted during the middle of a Louisiana thunderstorm or two while playing with fire... literally... "Ewwwwwwww, ewe light up my life. You gift me soap. To ferry on. Ewes fight up my way, and steer my fright... with sooonnng." that then slides straight into Deee-lite's "Groove is where we part-art-art-art." I can just see the teensy witches lined up atop the bus as if that's exactly where they should be seated and all of them singing along, too. With the one cutie from this book who's name I've forgotten suddenly jumping up and exclaiming, "Keel the migration!" as the impatient wolves inside start shifting about and howling from the off-key racket, causing the van to vibrate atop the blocks.) 😁
I'm tempted to add another star just because that mental image has amused me and I'd never have had it were it not for the spectacular series by this author. This book just didn't bring the same kind of whimsical, gritty, sometimes corrupt, often craven, downright belligerent zest for life, strife, and well it did bring a knife, that those before it brought. The characters fell flat to me, and the storyline wasn't just predictable. It was boring, unimaginative, and reminded me of a mix of some of the B movies from the late 80s and early 90s. Mind you, I really enjoyed those movies at the time.
So, once again I've finished an audio book from an author I love, and I'm left wondering if my tastes have changed that much or if it's the book. In spite of how harsh this review is likely coming across, I think Kresley Cole is an incredibly gifted and imaginative author who has a real lyrical flare with words and the ability to pull off the more zany and crazy character stylings that most authors who try it fall flat on. This book just fell flat in those areas which caused it to read as if written by someone else. Whatever was the cause, I wish Ms. Cole good fortune on her next book. I really hope she finds her zing again if this wasn't a ghost writer.💜

the accent he does for the woman is just so horrible I couldn't finish! loved loved loved the whole series but there was nothing sexy about the woman voice parts. Do your self a favor and just read this one your self cause the audio just ruined it.

At Last!
Another great addition to the series! This one ranked somewhere in the middle for me (Kereny was a little annoying at first), but it gets extra bonus points for including Lothaire and Ellie. We got some answers (I hope) about upcoming books and I'm happy Munro got his happy ending. Robert Petkoff continues to be amazing. I don't even want to know how many years I'll need to wait for the next one.

KC's long awaited comeback!
It was so entertaining to be immersed into the Lore once again. Kresley Cole's characters have a soft spot in my heart and this story definitely appealed to that (we get to see many fan favourites). This narration was done very well - overall, very happy with this audiobook.

Well worth the wait
I love the whole series but it had been getting a little cyclical- this was totally refreshing and yet tied perfectly in with the previous stories.
The characters have fantastic backstories, I definitely want more about the Night War and circus, and it definitely left me wondering a lot if there would be a HEA for them or what it would look like.
My only complaint- I have to wait for the next one!

Kresley is back & still amazing!
I’ve read hundreds of books since the last one of this series, but Munro instantly reminded me why Kresley Cole is one of my favorite authors.
This one has a great balance of romance, heartbreak, humor, and adventure. Loved it!

What a world
Ohhhh Kresley.... what a beautiful world you have created. I loved it! One cannot get enough.
Once again, a strong female character. such a worthy mate for our beloved Munro.
I love how old and new characters interact, how the stories intertwine with each other. What is not to like!!
And Robert Petkoff, such an artist. His versatile change of accents takes my breath away every time. I just can’t not imagine other person giving voice to these characters... chef kiss. magnific.

Amazing book with brilliant narration!
Munro was so worth the wait. Kresley dragged me back into the world of the Lore and it was like I had never left. Without a doubt, I laughed, got teary eyed (yes, a few times) and finished the book with a feeling of contentment. Like every other IAD couple, Ren and Munro must overcome their own obstacles but I love how it always comes together in the end.
Munro picks up right up from the ending of MacRieve and it was full of surprises. Ren was not what I expected, especially not since she's from the past, but she was a brilliant character. She is fierce, loyal and knows how to wield a sword like the badass she is. As for Munro, I have loved him from way back when, when he was first mentioned in the series with his twin brother. While I love all of the species in IAD, the Lykae hold a special place in my heart.
The best part? Seeing everyone again. Of course Nix made her crazy appearances as did Lothaire and Ellie (those two are the best), as well as Kristoff and Desh. I love Desh. I will throw hands if he doesn't get his own book!
I received an e-ARC of Munro but also listened to the audiobook when it released. Robert Petkoff is a brilliant narrator and I found I got more emotional over things than I did when I read the book. I would love to divulge more information, but I vowed to keep this a spoiler free review. Lets just say there is a cuteness overload and when Munro holds the thingies after the thingy? Yeah. I LOVED that, and you will too when you read it!
Munro was an amazing addition to the series and I can't wait for more in the future!

Worth the wait!
Love Kresley Cole’s work and the storyline of this series just builds with more twists. Munro was sooo worth the wait, and I’m looking forward to the stories surrounding Heath, Kristoff and of course Nix! If you enjoy paranormal romance with a lot of action and suspense, this is THE series for you!

It was good, but worth waiting this long?
I do hope Ms Cole is recovered and it’s not so long between drinks. There are too many threads left unfinished and I really get the feeling she’s bored.

Come join us! You won’t be disappointed.
This world KC has created is unmatched. A brilliant, intelligent and creative writer. The top of my list of favourites.
This book is the 19th instalment in the immortal after dark series. Never have I been so hooked to a book until a friend introduced me to this series. Now I crave to know what will happen next.
Munro was a beautiful instalment into the series. Many secrets come unleashed and we are all left with our mouths wide open asking for more.
Roberts Narration ability is magical and worth every bit of the purchase. He truly does an amazing job at breathing life into these characters. The attitude and wit along with those sexy accents have every fan pining for more.

a long time coming but YES!
I had to reread macrieve to get my head back into the series and then pounced on Munro.
he was such a level headed alpha, i guess due to his brothers plight but we end up seeing another Munro here, for a time anyway.
the 1st half was topsy, turvy for me, the way it went back and forth rattled me a bit and the heroine...oh boy is she sassy.
I thought hmmm maybe not for Munro's character but kresley knew what she was doing, of this I had no doubt so I relaxed and rolled with all the emotions thrown at me. what a ride.
I didn't see some twists coming and was yelling at the top of my lungs...but then quieted. soooo cool.
as for Robert petkov...oh my your just as brilliant as book 1 which I read years ago. your my first introduction to audible.
loved you all over again in 2022.
please keep narrating
and thankyou for bringing Munro and wren, along with all my faves ( especially Lothaire) TO LIFE.

The book we’ve all been waiting for!
The Romance Queen is back with Munro, the long awaited IAD story. And it was worth waiting for!
Phenomenal story, phenomenal characters and what a ride!
KC never stops delivering stories with depth and details and everything that hits right in the feels.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, this series will change your life.
Cannot recommend it highly enough!
Not usually one to listen to audible books I thought I’d give it a go.
Petkoff does a killer Scottish accent I really enjoyed his style.
