Publisher's Summary

A Shakespearean twist on the long-running Meg Langslow mystery series in Murder Most Fowl, the next installment from Donna Andrews, award-winning, New York Times best-selling author of The Falcon Always Wings Twice.

Meg Langslow’s in for a busy summer. Her husband is directing a production of Macbeth, and most of the cast and crew are occupying spare bedrooms in their house. She also has to keep an eye on Camp Birnam, where a group of medieval reenactors are commemorating the real-life Macbeth by setting up what they fondly believe is an authentic medieval Scottish military camp.

And then there’s Damien Goodwin, a filmmaker who has been hanging around, trying to document the production. When Goodwin hosts a showing of some of the footage he’s taken, he manages to embarrass or offend just about everyone. The next morning Meg isn’t exactly surprised to find that someone has murdered him.

But who? Some people’s motives were obvious from the footage: the couple whose affair was revealed...the bombastic leader of the reenactors, who could be facing years in prison if the evidence from the video helps convict him of sheep stealing...the actress who’s desperately trying to downplay a health issue that could cost her the role of her life. Other motives are only hinted at - did the filmmaker have other footage that would reveal why one of the actors is behaving so furtively?

Unfortunately, whoever murdered Goodwin also destroyed all the electronic devices on which his video was stored. So Caerphilly’s chief of police - and Meg - must rediscover the same secrets the filmmaker did if they want to catch a killer.

Critic Reviews

"Meg Langslow, is on hand to help police chief Henry Burke and senior deputy Vern Shiffley overcome the curse of the Scottish play, sift through layers and layers of mischief, and choose from among all these zanies the perpetrators of a surprisingly expansive flock of actual crimes. Fans will appreciate the helpful final chapter, which indicates exactly which malefactors have earned which legal punishment." (Kirkus)

FUNNY ONE OF MEGS BETTER STORIES

In the latest Meg Langslow mystery MURDER MOST FOWL BY DONNA ANDREWS, Meg has a lot on her plate. Her husband Michael is doing a production of "that play" MacBeth, the cast and crew along with assorted relatives are living in and around her house . There is also a filmmaker names Damien Goodwin, who is running around being a general pest and there is a group of so called reenactors out in the field who are stealing livestock and making a general nuisance of themselves! Oh did I mention the three witches casting spells in the woods? Then comes the murder, and along with Meg's cousin Rose Noir, they have to figure out who the murderer is without getting themselves killed.

In MURDER MOST FOWL we get to see much more of crazy Rose Noir and her herbs ! This time Rose Noir is the one Meg is listening to. I really liked this change. Its not all Meg . Meg actually figures out that Rose Noir isnt just her dinging cousin after all. Rose Noir is starting, I hope to become a little more developed as a character. Its also good to see that its just not all Meg this and Meg that.

Bernadette Dunne as always does a great job with the characters and I hope she continues to partner up with the author on Meg Langslow series.

Another Great Meg Langslow Mystery

This book has a colorful cast of characters. The main character is Meg, who is a wife to Michael head of the Drama Dept. at Caerphilly College. Mother to preteen twin boys, Josh and Jaimie. And also a professional a blacksmith when not helping to solve a murder. They live on a farm that includes dogs, chickens, llamas and a cow. Their house is very large and always has some relatives and guests staying with them. It’s too bad that the town is fictional. I would love to live there.

Another fun and entertaining listen

Another fun and entertaining mystery featuring Meg Langslow, her husband, Michael, sons, Jamie and Josh, and the rest of the characters we've come to love in Caerphilly. Bernadette Dunn provides a wonderful interpretation of this quirky cozy mystery. A listen or read of any books in this series is always time well spent.

Wonderful, as always Donna Andrews delivers

I love the Meg Langslow books. It’s like hanging out with my friends and family. The kooky situations and hilarious hijinks Meg’s family finds themselves in is always great fun.

Puzzled

I have enjoyed every book in this series, including this one. I would and have recommend them to any reader. I do however have a question for the author Donna Andrews. Why in this book did Meg speak so critically about Rose Noir throughout the whole book? Rose Noir has been a huge help to her especially after she had Josh and Jamie? Her criticism seemed unwarranted and out of place. I love your books and this series and will await the next book with excitement as always. I was just curious about this one thing. Thank you for taking me to the town of Caerphilly.

Another winner!

I absolutely love the Meg Langslow series - I have read and/or listened to them all, and I can't recommend them enough. Berndette Dunn is a great narrator, and it is obvious she enjoys the stories as much as I do. I have read all but the last two books myself, but from now on, I'll just get the audible edition! If you enjoy cozy mystery series, this a great one !

Donna Andrews is the best

Murder Most Fowl is a very interesting listen. I always feel like I spent a few days with some hyperactive crazy friends. the reader does an excellent job of all her characters voices. I really enjoy every time I pick up one of Donna Andrews novels. sometimes I guess the bad guy or gal early sometimes late sometimes not at all. this one was a real hard one that way because there were so many possibilities.

Twisty or than normal

A great mystery, with comedy, which is well thought out. The only reason it’s not a complete five star rating is that full cast audios are the only ones I give fives star ratings to. Even so this narrator was very good and most of the time you could tell the characters apart just by her voice. There were only one or two times where she got them mixed up. Audio editing sound quality messed up, at only one location. The mystery was complex, twisty, and evolving all the way through.

I love these books

I love this whole series, and have listened to every one that has been narrated. Shame it isn't the whole series, but I live in hope that the missing early ones will be recorded at some point.
As I'm almost up to date with the series I have been rationing the last few to spread out the enjoyment for longer, as it will then be a long wait until the next one.
This one was just as wonderfully written and narrated as all of the others.
