Publisher's Summary

A Cape Cod shop owner and her book club must find a crafty killer in this charming new series from the Agatha-nominated author of the Country Store Mystery series.

Summer is busy season for Mackenzie "Mac" Almeida's bicycle shop, nestled in the quaint, seaside hamlet of Westham, Massachusetts. She's expecting an influx of tourists at Mac's Bikes; instead she discovers the body of Jake Lacey. Mac can't imagine anyone stabbing the down-on-his-luck handyman. However, the authorities seem to think Mac is a strong suspect after she was spotted arguing with Jake just hours before his death. Mac knows she didn't do it, but she does recognize the weapon - her brother Derrick's fishing knife.

Mac's only experience with murder investigations is limited to the cozy mysteries she reads with her local book group, the Cozy Capers. So to clear her name-and maybe her brother's too - Mac will have to summon help from her Cozy Capers coinvestigators and a library's worth of detectives' tips and tricks. For a small town, Westham is teeming with possible killers, and this is one mystery where Mac is hoping for anything but a surprise ending.

disnt like it. narrator is monotone.

struggled to get through first few chapters..finally gave up and wished I could get my 2 hours back. a man and his husband confused me...didnt know if he was called the wife or what. ...th as t ruined the story for me...it was supposed to be a cozy mystery, not an opportunity to include the author's own agenda...very stressful! needless to say I wont read anymore of Maddie Day's books!😵

Great new series 5/5

Maddy Day has created a great new environment for a story. I want to visit this seaside town of Westham, Massachusetts and take a bike tour. I will be purchasing Book 2 as soon as it's out..

Rachel Dulude your narration was excellent.

Save Your Credit

The main character goes on and on with speculations about every thought that occurs to her. Maybe it was this, maybe it was that. It’s very distracting. I did not finish it.

Disappointing

It was okay, but there was nothing satisfactory about the ending. Too many loose ends were left loose, and too much was left unexplained.

When reading a mystery, especially, I’m looking for plot twists, but there was nothing like that.

Did not finish

Couldn't listen to the narrator. Read the story in a song song voice. Didn't get past the 2nd chapter. Probably would have been a great story.

Expected more sleuthing on Cspe Cod…

I was excited to read this book. I belong to a book club. So I thought it would be fun to read about a book club solving a murder. The story did not have the club really solving it together. Found it to be a little boring.

Don’t bother

Listened on Audible. Dull, monotony.
Started promisingly with a murder. 7 hours later, nothing else happened. I gave up with 3 hours to go. Someone please write me and tell me what happens.
Story could have been condensed into 5 minutes.
