Publisher's Summary

In USA Today best-selling author Carlene O’Connor’s eighth Irish Village Mystery, the long-engaged garda of County Cork, Ireland, Siobhán O’Sullivan and Macdaras Flannery, are about to get married at last. But just as the rowdy O’Sullivan brood and all the regulars of the local bistro have gathered at the church, the nuptials come to an abrupt halt when the discovery of an unidentified skeleton puts the wedding on pause....

If only her mother could be here! The entire O’Sullivan brood - not to mention the regulars from Naomi’s Bistro - have gathered at St. Mary’s Church for the wedding of Siobhán and Macdara. It’s not every day you see two garda marrying each other. Only Siobhán’s brother James is missing. They can’t start without him.

But when James finally comes racing in, he’s covered in dirt and babbling he’s found a human skeleton in the old slurry pit at the farmhouse. What farmhouse? Macdara sheepishly admits he was saving it as a wedding surprise: He purchased an abandoned dairy farm. Duty calls, so the engaged garda decide to put the wedding on hold to investigate.

James leads them to a skeleton clothed in rags that resemble a tattered tuxedo. As an elderly neighbor approaches, she cries out that these must be the remains of her one true love who never showed up on their wedding day, 50 years ago. The garda have a cold case on their hands, which heats up the following day when a fresh corpse appears on top of the bridegroom’s bones. With a killer at large, they need to watch their backs - or the nearly wedded couple may be parted by death before they’ve even taken their vows....

Nonsensical plot

I've read and enjoyed a couple other books in this series but was very disappointed in this one. Same great characters and charming setting (a small Irish village and a nearby farm) but the plot was utter nonsense. Suspect's motives and actions were ridiculous and the detectives' intuition was too unbelievable at times. Even Lennon's excellent narration wasn't enough to make this a satisfying listen. In my opinion, Ms. O'Connor should end this series and create a new one.

Another fun mystery with Sioban O'Sullivan!

Just a fun mystery of the skill of Carlene O'Connor! Well put together, not confusing like others have commented. Good clean reading/listening with no swearing and no sexual displays just to bring some readers. Well done!

Wonderful!

This is the next installment in the Irish Murder Mysteries, and it does not disappoint! I am fully vested in the O’Sullivan family and their feisty community. Start from the beginning and enjoy the experience, and the recipes. I eagerly look forward to the next volume. Author and narrator are a perfect pair. Caroline Lennon is our leading lady to a tee! Bravo and keep them coming please!

Another wonderful Irish Mystery

Carlene O’Conner has done it again. Another wonderful addition to her Irish Village Mystery series. I would love have some of the original characters from her first few in the series return. I love the O’Sullivan family and their love for their village.

One cannot have enough of Kilbane!

I adore this author. Her characters are quirky and engaging. Lennon is a perfect narrator for Irish mysteries. I cannot wait for the next one. The characters would also make a fabulous TV series. I hope to see more of O’Sullivans.

Another fantastic story from Carlene O'Connor

I really love this book series! This was a good listen, the night out was very funny, I was getting flash backs to my uni days! The relationship between the main characters is wonderful, I love the banter. I would of liked a bit more from the siblings as they are so much fun, but the best mates was hilarious. Caroline Lennon is amazing as the narrator her voice is perfect for these books. The mystery itself was interesting and rather sad I thought! I can't wait to hear the next story with the new...

Lovely Irish fun

This is a great yarn. Takes me back to Ireland. Reminds me of their voices and sense of joy.
