Publisher's Summary

Director, writer, and actor Jay Chandrasekhar tells the hilarious history of his comedy group, Broken Lizard, and the making of the cult film Super Troopers, as well as the currently filming Super Troopers 2.

Jay Chandrasekhar has spent the past two decades writing, directing, and acting in film and TV. With his comedy group, Broken Lizard, he has produced and directed beloved movies such as Super Troopers, Beerfest, and Club Dread. Now, with the coming release of the long-awaited Super Troopers 2, Jay is ready to tell the ridiculous, madcap, dead-honest story of how he built his career, how he formed Broken Lizard, and, ultimately, how he made Super Troopers.

Jay grew up Indian American in the lily-white suburbs of Chicago, and he had an outsider's perspective from the beginning. Instead of taking the traditional acting path, he formed his own troop, wrote his own scripts, and made movies his own way. And he had an incredibly good time doing so, as listeners will learn in this hilarious story about making it in Hollywood and making one of the best-loved and most-watched comedies of all time. Part humorous memoir, part film study, this book will inform, entertain, and tell listeners what drinking multiple bottles of maple syrup is really like.

Broken lizard behind the scenes

It was interesting to hear jays perspective about how he got his start as well as lizards. Follows the rhythm and jokes of the movies which I enjoy so it met my expectations.

Don't doubt yourself, This is gold

If you are a fan of anything from the Broken Lizard crew, this is an (audio)book for you. I've read the book and listened to the audio version, and to hear Jay Chandrasekhar tell all the stories is like listening to a Broken Lizard movie. Great listen, and so much laughter!

Perfect

Everything you want to hear straight from the horse's mouth. (Sorry, Jay.) From the early days in college, thru the indie-film struggles and on to Hollywood. Every story is interesting, funny and revealing.
I will enjoy listening this again when my husband has time to listen it.

great book

...mostly for fans, this book really describes where jay comes from and broken lizard comes from. the reason it is only 4 stars is while he says mackey-esque drugs are bad mmmkay...he talks with quite a bit of reverence for them...

Hilarious stories which are full of advice regarding the ins and outs of show-business, especially if you have ideas and want to be a filmmaker. This book had me laughing and gaining much more respect for the guys at Broken Lizard. A 5-star entertaining listen, thanks Jay!

better than the movies themselves!

Gearing the stories on how his movies came to be are hilarious. He and his entire gang of friends/co-stars are artistic geniuses.
