Story
Lady Eve Sotherby dreams of escaping her horrid life in England, yet she has nowhere to run. So when she spies a posting for a companion in the Highlands, she seizes the chance to disappear. She’s heard tales about the barbaric Highlanders, of course, but no one can be worse than the beast she once foolishly agreed to wed. And never mind that she doesn’t meet any of the requirements for the position: must have no family, must love the cold, and must know the healing arts.

Publisher's Summary
Beautiful and fiercely protective of those she loves, Lady Seona Murray captured Keegan MacKay's attention when she first set foot in Dunnakeil Castle. Though she is a chief's daughter and forbidden, Keegan has fallen in love with her from afar and burns to possess her. But so does the clan traitor, Haldane, an obsessive outlaw bent on murder and kidnapping.
Sinfully handsome, Keegan MacKay is a fearsome guard as well as the chief's cousin, but Seona's father would never consider him a worthy husband for her because he is not a titled laird. Seona has secretly watched the sensual, tawny-haired warrior from across the crowded great hall for months, but when he is tasked with escorting her across Scotland, back to her home, their simmering attraction flames into sizzling passion with just one kiss.
Though she fears she is endangering Keegan's life, Seona cannot resist his seductive charm or his spellbinding kisses. Keegan sets fire to the memories of her sad past and shows her what it means to truly live. But her father has other plans. He's arranged for her to marry a wealthy Lowland laird. Is Keegan daring enough to steal her away? Or will the vindictive Haldane snatch her first?

Delightfully Sweet Romance!
This fourth book in the Highland Adventures Series is a delightfully sweet romance. Keegan MacKay has fallen head over heels in love with Lady Seona Murray however he is just a untitled castle guard with nothing to offer her. Seona knows her father has arranged for her to be betrothed to a wealthy laird and would consider Keegan below her, however she is also in love with him. Do they dare hope that they can be together? There is also the threat of the clan traitor Haldane who is obsessed with having Seona as his wife. There are many exciting and tender moments in this delightful story. The couple seemed a bit young and naïve at times to me however I did enjoy this story and really look forward to the next one in the series. Dave Gillies one again does an excellent job of narrating.

Romance and brave warriors
What a good story this was and further enhanced by the excellent narration of Dave Gillies. He is able to hold my attention throughout and he has an interesting voice to listen to. This story gripped me from beginning to end. Keegan was everything one could want in a hero, he was brave, handsome and very protective of those he loved. Seona was a strong and caring lady, always looking out for others. There was plenty of action and I loved the camaraderie between the friends and Rebbie and his teasing ways. His time will come, I’m sure! Whilst reading I couldn’t imagine how a satisfying end would come about and this is the type of book I enjoy most, when I haven’t worked out how it will end.

My favorite one in the series (so far)
This book is my favorite one in the series (so far). Maybe I've just gotten used to the narrator's style, or maybe he continues to grow in his craft. I'm not sure what it is, but I like what's happening. The stories are also improving although I could do without the constant damsel in distress at every turn. There are other ways of moving the story along than constantly having a character in danger and it would be nice to see the author utilize those occasionally.

Slow mover
What did you like best about My Daring Highlander? What did you like least?
The story was good, but slow. I never really got into the book.I won't be listening to it again.
What did you like best about this story?
From the middle to the end had enough action to keep me listening.
How could the performance have been better?
I didn't care for the sing song rhythm or the speed of the reader. He has a nice broge but the female voices were, shall we say not his strong suit. Perhaps have two readers, someone else for the female parts. I was manually able to speed it up though.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
It movie would be better as a movie.

Good
Any additional comments?
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
So, I have to say that this is the first book I've read/listened to by this author. And even though it's kind of in a series, it is literally it's own book. I did have to get a clarification from the author as to what a curse word that was repeated was (because even with headphones my hearing was being screwy and I was hearing differently and it wasn't making the least bit of sense but after email back it made SO MUCH MORE SENSE). I'm very thankful that the author was more than happy to answer my question. Despite my mishearing I still really enjoyed the book.
I REALLY love the fact that the author actually KNOWS Scottish geography and that it was shown very much in the book. That was a nice touch.
I really liked the narrator's voice (but that's me with a predilection towards deep voices and Scottish accents). He didn't read too fast or too slow. It was kept at a nice even pace through the whole book. And his brogue wasn't so thick that (people not me and not use to the thicker ones) you're left wondering what the heck was said.
