Publisher's Summary

The Sunday Times best seller!

Joan Collins has been a diarist from the age of 12, writing enthusiastically over the years. She dictated most of these entries in real time into a mini-tape recorder at the end of the day, and now she is spilling the beans - well, nearly all of them. What you will discover was written when Joan 'felt like it' between 1989 and 2009. Whether it is an encounter with a superstar or a member of the royal family, or her keen and honest insights into other celebrities at dinner parties and events, Joan is honest and unapologetic.

Taking us on a dazzling tour around the globe - from exclusive restaurants in Los Angeles to the glittering beaches of St Tropez, from dinner parties in London to galas in New York City - some of the characters you will meet here include Elton John, Princess Margaret, Donald Trump, Michael Caine, Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, Rupert Everett, Roger Moore, Shirley MacLaine, Andrew Lloyd Webber and many more. Her diaries are intimate and witty, and they pull no punches, with no apologies to anyone mentioned in them!

Not read by Dame Joan

Very disappointed it wasn’t read by JC as described. She reads the prologue. I often buy biographies on audible to hear the voice of the writer e.g. Miriam Margolyes, so My Unapologetic Diaries did lack something for me, despite being entertaining.

Yawn…

Found this audio very boring mainly name dropping, and her constant references to the usual suspects!
I listen whilst walking, and nearly fell asleep.

very disappointed

Joan's constant complaining and nasty comments about women who should not go out without make over 30 is appalling. she's a real beautiful women hater. it is boring for 3/4 of the book. badly put together. Mainly giving her ungrateful accounts of first class flights, and daily trips to the Ritz, the Ivy and spending sprees, starving herself to keep slim, and binging on cavier . Constant name dropping . it's almost she has mentioned them to get paid. Most of the American high society you won't have a clue who they are. She comes across as an arrogant selfish up her own backside snob, who thinks she's the best looking woman in the world. that she is not and never was. gummy smile, eyes too far apart, and tons of make up. Yes she can scrub up well but is not natural beauty without make up. Maybe that's why she hates women who are pretty with out make up. It's not a fantastic read to be honest. Some interesting bits on the crap women go through in Hollywood to make it, but overall not a great read. Joan becomes less cold towards the end, maybe finding love softened her up. I was a fan but after reading this I just think she was a spoilt privileged snob who just thought she was better than everyone else. A real shame she came across so shallow.

Brilliant

I love Joan, what an amazing lady. You can’t survive in that industry if you aren’t tough. Inspirational.

NOT NARRATED BY JOAN COLLINS!

Joan Collins only reads out the introduction and the epilogue. The rest is performed by a much younger sounding actress. At first I was so annoyed I nearly returned the book to Audible in disgust. But I'm glad I didn't. if you like Joan Collins (which I do) and you like reading other people's diaries (and who doesn't) then this book is definitely for you!

Joan's Diaries

enjoyed listening, the little snippets of gossip of other Hollywood stars this was why I wanted to listen to this book. I did find some of it a bit repetitive however this was what was important to the author at the time. Glynis Barber did a good read & I could believe it was Joan herself in her younger days. Joan is one of a kind & one of the last of the golden years of Hollywood

My unapologetic diaries

Absolutely boring, monotonous, drivel. Name dropping nonsense. All about her invitations to whose party or home and all the same people at each, which she proceeded to tell us about at every opportunity throughout the book. Surely at some stage even Joan Collins would have become bored with these “famous” and not so “famous” people. It was all about who had what.

Excellent listen, well done Dame Joan!

As I said, excellent listen! Great to hear what Dame Joan had to say, for herself, in her own words! An amazing life so far. More, more! Particularly, moved about the memories of Diana, Princess of Wales and her death in 1997. Five stars!

Love this!

What a fabulous journey. And so beautifully written and spoken. So wonderful to hear the wit and power of the English language spoken with such charm and sincerity. Couldn’t put it down!

Fabulous - like Joan!

Joan is fabulous, classy, talented, hilarious and cool. A real role model - she has integrity in spades. And what a way she has with words! Don't stop writing Joan, I love your books and am looking forward to the next one. Hey Audible - how about making all Joan's books available for download.

My Unapologetic Diaries

I always admired Joan but after listening to this dairy I sadly realised it was like a shopping list selected over the years until she got to the Diana years when she actually opened up and had a view on her demise. I found this audio book good for getting to sleep but not much more!
