Story
"D" Is for Deadbeat: Alvin Limardo hires Kinsey Millhone to deliver $25,000 to a 15-year-old kid. Seems pretty straightforward; or it would have been if Limardo wasn't a phony. "E" Is for Evidence: When Kinsey is framed for insurance fraud, she is expecting a complicated, tiring investigation. But she's not counting on the involvement of her long-departed ex-husband. "F" Is for Fugitive: Kinsey must prove the innocence of a man already found guilty of murder.

"H" Is for Homicide To the cops, the death of claims adjuster Parnell Perkins looked like a robbery gone sour; to Kinsey Millhone, it looks strangely suspicious. "I" Is for Innocent Kenneth Voight thought that justice had not been served when David Barney was acquitted in the shooting death of Voight's ex-wife, Isabelle. Story
In 1982, Sue Grafton introduced us to Kinsey Millhone. Thirty years later, Kinsey is an established international icon and Sue, a number-one best-selling author. To mark this anniversary year, Sue has given us stories that reveal Kinsey’s origins and Sue’s past. Kinsey and Me has two parts: The nine Kinsey stories (1986-93), each a gem of detection; and the And Me stories, written in the decade after Grafton's mother died. Together, they show just how much of Kinsey is a distillation of her creator’s past.

The woman’s body was found in the early morning, on a bench in a New York City playground. She was clean, her hair neatly arranged, her makeup carefully applied. Publisher's Summary
Private investigator Kinsey Millhone is back, sassy and self-reliant as ever. Visiting a small town in the Sierras, Kinsey aids a recent widow, Selma Newquist, who believes that her detective husband did not die of a heart attack, as reported, but from foul play.
Kinsey sifts through the paper trail Tom Newquist left behind, trying to discover what he was investigating before he died. Kinsey is about to call it quits when she is severely beaten in her motel room. Spurred to probe further she soon unearths clues regarding a long-unsolved murder that may or may not implicate the colleagues of Tom Newquist.
Wry and intelligent, Kinsey Millhone solves the case - and Sue Grafton delivers the goods.
"Kinsey Millhone is the epitome of the tough, independent, smart, feisty PI...entertaining and engaging." (Booklist)

Quite good until the very end
yes, we all know she has to write 26 books and some have been disappointing, but this one was really one of her much better efforts -- you don't know what's going on until almost the end (even tho you might suspect), but she blows it with a really limp ending in the last paragraph or 2. Oh well...................... still worth a listen.

Great book! Not a good reading voice
I’ve listened to many of these Kinsey books now. All ready by Judy Kaye. I do not enjoy this reader’s voice at all. She sounds like a computer. I kept hoping I’d get used to it, but I dislike it more and more. I started this series backwards and I’m upset to see that this reader is the voice for many of the books at the beginning of the series. I wish you could choose which reader for each book.

Suspenseful
This is a good story that is filled with action. I enjoyed guessing the villan and the bit of humor that pops up in the story.
Mary Pfeiffer's narration is spot on with my mental picture of Kinsey. Highly recommend.

Good Writing But Not A Great Story
This is a well narrated audiobook. Additionally Sue Grafton is a good writer who writes in a very description manner and does a very nice job depicting scenery. However the story itself is not great. Honestly some of the story did not make sense to me. I have been and remain a big fan of Sue Grafton, I have read every story since "A" thru "N". The waiting is good, but this is probably my least favorite story thus far. Thank You...
