Critic Reviews
"Sidesplitting." (The New York Times Book Review)
"Genuinely funny, at times hilarious....Makes for a smashing use of audio as a unique entertainment medium....Highly likable and spirited throughout...makes a case for audio as its own special form." (Publishers Weekly)
"Sedaris is a gifted satirist with an uncanny knack for re-creating dialogue and revealing fantasies....Brutally honest and brilliantly eloquent, Sedaris is positively tonic." (Booklist)

the best time ever spent
If you could sum up Naked in three words, what would they be?
I loved it.
What other book might you compare Naked to and why?
You can't really compare his unique style to other writers. It's very engaging and funny without being self-absorbed.

Even better in audio
I had read 'Holidays on Ice' and 'Dress your family...' and thought them tremendously funny and clever. However, hearing the author (and his sister) adds a whole new dimension to his writing. In fact, I think I'll be getting the audio versions the books I've already read. Sad, funny, mordant and completely unique.

Wickedly Witty
If you have read David Sedaris before, then you will enjoy the witty sense of humour and out of the ordinary subject matter - his take on the world is always entertaining. If you have listened to his live recordings on e.g. Radio 4 - his reading style on these audiobooks is not as lively, but still amusing.
Would recommend.

Listening pleasure
I downloaded Naked after listening to David Sedaris on BBC Radio 4. This is an exellent audio book and made what is normally a monotonous commute to work highly enjoyable. I caught myself chuckling away on the bus many times.

Laugh at loud
This book grew on me massively as I progressed through it. Initially it seems like the diary of an autistic person. As David gets older his neurosis seem more neurotypical but become atypical with hilarious and sometimes poignant vignettes of a person who is fully at ease with the oddities of everyday life and family life. It is laugh out loud funny and highly recommended.

Funny
Funny anecdotes delivered in Sedaris' droll style. Amy Sedaris does very funny characterisations too.

Absolutely hilarious and so addictive!
I just cannot recommend David Sedaris enough - he is incisive, witty in the extreme, sensitive and so downright funny you just can’t get enough of him. I only wish I knew him and could spend time with him as I know we would become friends for life!

another entertaining sedaris book
joined by his sister amy who i love doing bit roles this is a disapointly small 3 chapter book. and the titular third chapter on being a nudist is also the weakest third of the book.
david has an incredibly gifted wit and insight into his human condition that we can all relate too. poignant he finds comedy in mundane tragedies
this is the second book of his I've listened too and undoubtedly I will enjoy everything else he has done.

Not that funny
What would have made Naked better?
The story telling. It was dark humour I guess but I had read previous reviews that said it was laugh out loud stuff.
What was most disappointing about David Sedaris’s story?
They were just a series of stories that didn't string together in any way. I
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He told the story with the same monotone voice. The female narrator was better.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Naked?
The opening scenes where David portrays himself growing up did him no favours.
Any additional comments?
Not my favourite book. Although I do wonder if some of his other work would be better.
