Publisher's Summary

The ties between women can run as deep as the ocean - but so can the secrets.

For 20 years, Kayla, Antoinette, and Val have performed their own special summer ritual. Once a year, the old friends put aside their daily, separate lives to drink champagne, swap stories, and swim naked under the Nantucket stars. But on one of those bonding nights, one of their trio swims out from the shore and doesn't return. After the surviving friends emerge from their grief, they realize that the repercussions of their loss go far beyond their little circle, and they begin to uncover layers of secrets - and their connections to each other - that were never revealed on the beach. What has made their friendship strong now has the power to destroy - their marriages, families, even themselves.

Desperate

I don’t give bad reviews, but I spent $25 on this audiobook and it was the worst Elin book I’ve gotten. The entire book was whiney and desperate- nothing captivating or romantic. Just pure depression. I really enjoy this author but this book was awful. The performance was good- I do enjoy this narrator.

Thumbs Down multiple times!

Horrible, ridiculous, and disgraceful - plot, concepts, meaning. This was sickening on so many levels. Worst book ever by Elin. Makes me question remaining a fan.

Not what expected

Not what I expected. Particularly hated the ending as it just leaves you hanging. Kind of a dark story.

Difficult to finish

I prefer heroines that are like able and honestly everyone was quite deplorable. Hard to finish but kept hoping it would get better -it didn’t ... I’m a fan but skip this one!

Dark storyline-too heavy for beach reading

I love this author and I’m a voracious reader. The book starts out nicely with a fun and perceptive descriptors of the 3 best friends. With very different lifestyles. Nantucket is a lovely background, almost a character in itself. However, tho no blood is spilled, there is a troubling incident and, ironically she is such a good author that you really experience the characters fear, there is also a taboo shattering topic that I felt too strongly because I have a son. I will read more of her books, but do not recommend this one,. Just not fun for a chick novel

Worst Elin Hilderbrand book- awful

This book is disappointing on many levels. The characters are all unlikeable, the plot is horrible and the ending is wretched. The narration is mostly focused on the characters’ internal dialog instead of actual conversations between people. The main character is ridiculously weak. I have enjoyed most books by this author, but I regret wasting my money on this title.
