Story
Whenever some of us hear of of narcissism or narcissist, we envision vain, preening braggarts who can’t stop talking about themselves. But most of the time, we’ve got it wrong. Many narcissists aren’t driven by looks, fame, or money. Some may even be shy or soft-spoken. The startling truth is we’ve been distracted by an empty stereotype that blinds us to far more reliable signs of danger, and an entire generation is suffering because of it.

This is why you need to know its early signs so that you can take action immediately - especially if your partner is a narcissist. Recovering from a codependent relationship with a narcissist can take years and seriously undermine your mental health, so run away as soon as possible!

Love this book!
This book is a must for people healing from parental narcissistic abuse. The author leads you on a journey of healing by explaining the process in three phases. Many similar self-help guides fall short. In this book, the author explains that identifying your problems and breaking contact with abusive people in your life is just the first two steps. You have to make an effort then to complete the third phase of healing in order to change your programming and your life and move on to a more peaceful state. Love this book.

Well explained,
Well explained, with just the right dosage of insights on the author's own experience. The idea of structuring the healing into stages is appealing, it gives the listener achievable thresholds. What I appreciated the most is that the author stresses over and over the necessity to own listener responsibility for the healing. It's a refreshing change from many books out there that are merely just acknowledging the abuse while keeping the listener stuck in the victim's position.

Great book!
I went through a horrible experience with a narcissist last year, and though my family and counselors were great, they didn't understand why I reacted the way I did. I certainly didn't either. It was excruciatingly painful and I went around and around endlessly trying to understand it. I got away from the person and started to heal, but still didn't understand until I listen to this book.

The Prologue is extremely inspirational
I just started listening to this book and so far, every WORD, beginning with the dedication, resonates deeply and rings with truth. This book perfectly describes the conditions of narcissistic abuse that I recognize only in retrospect because of denial. The true nature of the covert narcissist has clearly exposed in the author's superb writing. But the actual experience of a relationship with a narc is cunning, seductive, powerful and intoxicating, so it's easier to see in hindsight. The Prologue is extremely inspirational and I feel the healing in my heart and soul already. I hope this book helps prevent other women from falling for narc wolves in sheep's clothing.

It was that outstanding
I wish that I had this book when I first left my narcissistic husband for it explained everything in how to heal from his abuse and what to expect. This is a must-have for anyone who is leaving a narc. I am not one who listens much, but when I opened up this book, I didn't put it down until I had listened to it in its entirety. It was that outstanding. I am pleased to say that I have completed all phases of recovery and the author's accurate account of the roadmap is completely accurate. Knowledge is indeed power!!!
