Publisher's Summary

2020 revised and expanded edition of Neanderthal Seeks Human and Neanderthal Marries Human from the Knitting in the City Series

Neanderthal Seeks Human, Book 1 in the Knitting in the City Series

There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris: 1) She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and 3) She doesn't know how to knit.

After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store.

To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan - aka Sir McHotpants - witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn to make her an offer she can't refuse.

New York Times best-selling author Penny Reid’s debut novel!

Neanderthal Seeks Human is book 1 one in the Knitting in the City series. Each book is a standalone, contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the misadventures and exploits of seven friends in Chicago, all members of the same knitting group.

Neanderthal Marries Human, Book 1.5 in the Knitting in the City Series

There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit.

After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn - former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat - is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day - thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: Engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions.

But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane.

Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?

This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to Neanderthal Seeks Human, and is book #1.5 in the Knitting in the City series.

Fun, quirky novel and novella sequel

I'm a big Penny Reid fan, and I love this novel. I was very excited to listen to the audio, and it did not disappoint. Janie and Quinn are a funny, quirky, interesting couple, and the narration by Jennifer Grace captured Janie's personality perfectly.

Highly recommend this smart romance. More than worth the price of a credit.

Have read these by hand at least 10x.

The narrator was ok. she tried hard. love these characters. How Quinn Sullivan is very good looking, highly intelligent, but most importantly to me, confident with out haughtiness, superego, and compassion.
So often, the way he responds to Janie brings to mind the near final scene of North and South. Richard Armitage's character on the train platform as he sits and gazes at Margaret as she rambles in her nervous and lovelorn state. His expression watching her is priceless. Adoration, tenderness, amusement and patience. This is Quinn Sullivan toward Janie. You can well imagine the seconds he must spend when she stops speaking and just gazes at her, fighting the urge to smile, shake his head, trying to school himself.
Janie is a loveable hoot!😙 Sometimes when we are nervous and overcome we just try too hard and the most rediculous things escape our mouths. She is in fact intelligent, but so socially ackward with him you just can't help but laugh and wish you could hug her at the same time.
So appreciative Audible has recorded these books. Masterpieces both.

I wanted to like it so much.

The repetitive nature of the writing was so disappointing. There were so many characters we could have learned more about and shared more of this 28 hour book. Instead it was a struggle to hear the same situation repeat itself with the two main characters. They were fun characters don't get me wrong. But we could have learned all we needed in about 10 hours then built the backstories of the rest of the crew. Don't know if I can continue this series... some writers do improve...

Fun romance listen!

LOVE this story by Penny Reid, & Jennifer Grace does a great job narrating, & Sebastian York is great when he does his small bits. They both did different voices for the different characters & excellent to listen to. I highly recommend this listen!

Meh

Mediocre plot, passion, and narration....never got to Sebastian York's narration. Would have preferred dual POV.

Addicitively good read

The first book is so good, I absolutely fell in love with the whole lot of friends. I had to listen to them all one after another.

Sound fix

Sound has some real issues that made listening difficult but increasing speed to 1.2 made things much better. Love the male perspective and narrator.

Painfully cliche

I enjoy an easy to listen to romance novel, and enjoyed penny reids Winston brothers series. However this story came off as a painfully cliched fan fiction novel of fifty shades of grey, with no kink and worse writing. Do not recommend.

Fun easy to listen to book.

What a great boxset and introduction to the Knitting In The City Series. This was a fun and enjoyable boxset setting the scene for a very quirky bunch of ladies who love to knit easy to listen to, great humorous scenes along with romance and action. Got to love Janey in all her quirkiness and random facts and Quins ability to engage in thoughtful consideration when I feel most people would have cut her off to stop her tangents.

Chapter 7 missing but otherwise good

I’m a longtime Penny Reid fan so I’ve read NSH more times than I can count; it’s a great read & Jennifer Grace is excellent but I’m confused the Chapter about Janie’s job interview isn’t included.
