One night, and my entire life went up in flames. All because of him. Jafar. As my world burned down around me, he offered me a choice. Walk away with nothing but my freedom...or rise to his challenge and win my fortune back. I bargained. I lost. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. Publisher's Summary
He was supposed to be a myth.
But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell...he was, quite simply, mine.
Society darling Persephone Dimitriou plans to flee the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start over far from the backstabbing politics of the Thirteen Houses. But all that's ripped away when her mother ambushes her with an engagement to Zeus, the dangerous power behind their glittering city's dark facade.
With no options left, Persephone flees to the forbidden undercity and makes a devil's bargain with a man she once believed a myth...a man who awakens her to a world she never knew existed.
Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he's spent years craving, it's all the excuse he needs to help her - for a price. Yet every breathless night spent tangled together has given Hades a taste for Persephone, and he'll go to war with Olympus itself to keep her close....

Good story....
I enjoyed the story overall. I wish I would have bought the book instead of audible though. The female narrator does a terrible male voice. He sounded so creepy that it was hard to enjoy, especially during their "intimate" moments when she makes his voice even weirder. It is not good. Otherwise, she does a great female voice and the male narrator sounds nice. Would have been better with dual narration.

Loved the book, narrators did ok..
I enjoyed this book, it kept me on my toes for the next thing, plus the spice was on point *chefs kiss*
However, the narrators especially the female narrating Persephone’s chapters left some to be desired when she would talk and chuckle in Hades’s voice. It made him sound incredibly cringy. She did a great job otherwise but her whenever she was narrating and Hades talked it just.. was hard to listen.
Everything else about this book was wonderful. Cannot wait for more in this series!

HOT HOT HOT
Story was HOT. Narrators were NOT. Her male voice was crotchety. His voice is too old for Hades, it was off-putting.
The story includes a scene of light BDSM and several scenes of voyeurism.
I really liked the blossoming love story and the sex scenes were some of the hottest I've ever read. I'm hoping this becomes a series, but this author is now on my radar.

pretty good
Well I impulse bought this title, because I love the myth of Hades and Persephone. I was really into the beginning of the story. It got off to a quick and interesting start. I don't want to spoil anything here but I will just say that it became very clear once Persephone pitches a deal to Hades that this was going to be erotica. I had thought it was a romance novel. There was quite a bit of sex and Persephone specifically states in her deal that it will need to be public sex so that their plan to anger Zeus will work. Just putting that out there so other listeners will know what to expect. The consent was always very clear and I thought everything was relatively tasteful. At the very least Hades was extremely kind and giving even when he was being bossy. The female narrator was excellent and the male narrator did a good job, I just felt like he sounded way too old to be Hades.

Perfect! Absolutely perfect!
First off: if you are expecting the story to follow the myth to a T, STOP and if you aren’t into k!nky stuff this probably isn’t the story for you. This story kinda just uses names to pay its tribute to the myth of Hades and Persephone, that being said this book was absolutely amazing and I loved it. It had the perfect amount of romance, spice, CONSENT, drama, and frustration. Hades is adorable and every bit the dominant protective teddy bear I believe him to be and Persephone while a bit faulty is very lovable as well. This was definitely a story I binged and will definitely enjoy again and again.

Awesome!
I absolutely loved the story. It was surprisingly sweet considering it was a retelling of Hades and Persephone. It has plenty of steam and kink but the story was just perfect. This was the first book I have listened too performed by these narrators. The female narrator's normal voice was awesome, but her male voices weren't the best. However, they weren't the worst I have heard. I really wish this had been a duel narration. Sometimes her male voices pulled me out of it and were a bit annoying.

i loved this audiobook. i know some people are saying it’s all just *spicy* but i felt like it was just enough of a story plot added in to the sexy parts. you really got to learn about both characters and i loved the relationship in the end. i think what really sold me was they never second guessed each other; once they trusted each other they didn’t weaver on that trust. highly recommend.

Move along if you’re looking for any intellectual stimulation whatsoever
This book reads like bad fan fiction written by someone who’s never had sex in their life. The story itself is severely lacking in any sort of excitement or plot, and the smut isn’t good enough to make up for it. Struggled to finish.

disappointing - didnt finish
I was disappointed in this book. I have read others by the author and enjoyed them but this one didnt live up to the expectation. It was more focused on the erotic interludes rather then an overall story. For me, there is only so many times you can retell the same erotic interlude.

1 star .
I had high hopes but was seriously disappointed. The narration was unbearable so I returned but had the paper copy and kept reading. Weak storyline. Hades was too weak and kind for the namesake. It needed more depth and could have easily had more run up to the first spicy scenes, give us more background, more character depth and don't just jump into the spicy. We want the spice but a good story too.

Easy read but a difficult listen
The story was a modern retelling of the Persephone and Hades story and there was no slow burn here! It gets very spicy very quickly but I agree with other reviews that say that Hades wasn’t bad enough to be god of the underworld.
The main issue I had was the narration. Both read the story well but the character voices were difficult to listen to. The female’s Hades voice was a stock gruff villain, the male’s Persephone was whiny and a bit pathetic, and neither seemed to have listened to how the other was performing the characters.
An easy modern fantasy story but one I wish I’d just have stuck to the hard copy of the book with.

3.5 Stars
3.5 Stars. I've been putting this off for a while because it's still so incredibly popular and I didn't want to get swept up in the hype. That said, while I didn't hate this, I didn't love it like I thought I would. It had all the tools to be a hit; KR signature flair, kink, diversity, greek myth and the beginnings of a series I'm probably going to love. But and it's a pretty big but; while it had all those things, they didn't give 100% of what I wanted them to give. Hades was so...nice. Nothing really happens and the Zeus stuff wraps up a little too clean for my liking. All in all, I'm underwhelmed. Will I check out Electric Idol? Probably. Am I weak for Ms. Roberts? Absolutely.

Just embarrassing
Struggled to finish it.
Really didn't like the narrators.
Feels like the author is immature.

average read with no chemistry
Story line had potential but was overshadowed with focus on smut, it fell flat

Really bad
Terrible narration and fairly crappy story too. Disappointing. Some yummish smut but that’s it - literally.

Failed to deliver on a promising idea
Way too much smut! Would have liked more world building about the 13 and their roles within the city. What's their connection to the ancient gods? Is there one or is it just a reimagining?
I liked the narrators but didn't think there needed to be 2 of them.

Predictably brilliant
I knew exactly how this story would play out from line one, and I loved it.

WOW, Katee has done a phenomenal job, this was amazing. If you thought Wicked Villans was good, this is even better!
Both the story and smut is excellent.
Additionally, love the voice acting in this book.
I was so sad I have finished this! Time to wait for the next in this series.

Honestly a bit of a let down.
i honestly just kept laughing anytime someone said pussy. dont get me wrong. love a well written sex scene. but i really prefer the sex to be supported by better plot/world building. there are better ways to build tension to sex without it being based purely on voyeurism and the chase of the big O.
im also honestly disappointed there wasn't an actual three headed dog.

Scates through on spice
Great concept but lazily excited. Could have been epic but instead went for taboo.
