From the internationally best-selling author of the Sword of Truth series comes a new Richard and Kahlan novella. "They are the monsters under the bed when you are little, the shape just caught out of the corner of your eye when you thought you were alone, the shadow of something in a dark corner that surprises you and then isn't there. They stop you dead with a knot of unexpected terror in the pit of your stomach. Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Terrible
This was the worst book I've ever read to the end. The story was nonsense, repetitive, with. needless technical passages (you don't have to describe how to use the internet, we know).
The narration was also painful. She would use the same voice for all the "bad guy" characters, obviously had no idea what some of the accents were supposed to sound like, and pronounced some words incorrectly.
I really wanted to like this book, as I've read all Goodkind's others, but it was really terrible.

Could someone get to the point please!
Would you try another book from Terry Goodkind and/or Elisabeth Rodgers?
Not sure.
What was most disappointing about Terry Goodkind’s story?
Too much of the content is repeated over and over and seems like every conversation throughout this book goes round and round and round and round until finally after a forever someone finally gets to the point. Then that point is repeated at least three times before the conversation moves on. One of the rare times I will not finish listening to an audiobook.
Any additional comments?
Although pretty dark subject, the book was a bit on the juvenile side.

Nest: A Terrible Dialogue
Would you try another book from Terry Goodkind and/or Elisabeth Rodgers?
Since Terry Goodkind typically writes in a different genre, I'd probably try out one of his other books since I've heard they might be okay, and yes Elisabeth Rodgers did a fine job as a narrator, an excellent job in fact, I just can't stand how this book was written.
Has Nest turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I've read/listened to other books in this genre that are quite interesting.
Which scene was your favorite?
Well, there are like 3 scenes in the book, all of which are 2-4 hour dialogues between two characters explaining how the world is a terrible place and becoming more infested with evil and bad guys...except studies show that crime is at an all time low unless you are speaking about very specific areas of the world. Good grief.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Nest?
Let me count the ways...
Any additional comments?
This book is just too black and white for my taste. Sometimes black and white works for sci-fi or fantasy, but when you are talking about the present day, it's just hard to swallow. He writes as if everyone hates the police, crime is on the rise, and you are either evil or not. Also, apparently you can't explain to the police that some guy was trying to murder you so in self defense you attacked and they died. Nope, they wouldn't understand that at all. You'd get caught up too long in the system, more people are coming after you. The majority of the book is two characters at any given time discussing the world becoming more infested with evil. Hardly anything happens at any given moment.
This book just felt like Terry Goodkind ranting about how the world is falling apart, and it definitely did not resonate with me. I couldn't finish it. I just couldn't it was too poorly written for me deal with.

Hoping this is the start of a new series!
Where does Nest rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
High. I listen to a lot of audio books. This one was captivating from start to finish.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot builds as it goes and the twist in the end - well - I normally see them coming, but not with this one
Which character – as performed by Elisabeth Rodgers – was your favorite?
Kate of course. She is awesome.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, but I won't wreck it for those yet to listen to it. You will know it when it comes.
Any additional comments?
In the book, there are bad reviews written about a book, which turn out to be part of a scheme. Funnily enough it was the bad reviews of this book which made me write my first ever review. I loved this book and am SO hoping its the start of a new series. I want to know what happens next. Its written in such a way as to open that door. Please Mr Goodkind, walk us through that door!

The Seeker
A new book from Goodkind is a good thing. Writing about end times, mans true nature, romance, a strong female lead, the dark net, fighting and killing. Such a good book. Exciting, and informative. A good summary about the dark net and what lives there. Once again a seeker comes forth. I thought I was reading Dean Koontz at first. I had to recheck the authors name.
The book is about a family of seers, that can see evil in others. One by one they are sought out for killing. Only one survives. A female. She witnesses the aftermath of her brothers butchering, the aftermath of her cop friends family butchering, and learns to fight back. She says of a man she thinks has come to kill her, " he's already dead, I just need to go tell him".
She falls for the hero who teaches her to survive, who is a seeker of sorts. She prevents some terrorist events, and get up front and close with the Mossad. So entertaining. If you like the Richard and Kalan books, you will love this departure of one of my most favorite writers.
