Publisher's Summary

All Violet Parker wants is a day off. Better yet, just a “normal” day. But things never go as planned, especially in Deadwood.

Someone - or rather something - broke into the local taxidermy shop and took bites out of the critter displays before racing off into the dark. But this is no random crime, and Violet knows it. With a bounty on her head and troublemakers zeroing in on her, she soon goes from being the hunter to the hunted.

“Burly muscled and rawhide tough don’t matter. Never tangle with a Scharfrichter!” - Violet Parker

Best One Yet!!!

I read a review before I started this installment of the Deadwood series that had me preemptively disappointed. They claimed Violet accomplished nothing in this book, and had no hard hitting action scenes, thankfully they either read an entirely different book, or are just completely wrong! (though there was a lack of Doc & Vilot action that surprised me.)

This book is by far the best one yet!! Nonstop action! Threats around every single corner, and hints from the past I hope we also see in the Deadwood Undertaker series. Between work and.... well, work... poor Violet doesn't get a break during the week that this book takes place. and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it!!

My husband is 5 books behind me, but I can't wait for him to catch up because I know this will be his new favorite too.

GET ON WITH IT

The actual storyline of this book was pretty good. I enjoyed the lore and the underlying tale, but it was so hard to get through due to all the useless banter. Banter is fun but not EVERY other sentence. Need to kill something quick? Better stand there and banter with someone for 5 minutes before actually doing it. It just killed the suspense. Everything was just so drawn out and as wordy as possible. Hoping the author edits a bit more if a sequel is released.

Very strange

Couldn’t get past the first chapter. Listening to a woman’s voice try and do a male voice with an accent was like listening to a kids cartoon from the 60’s. Story was very strange.

Run On Clichés

Sorry but I just couldn’t get into the incessant and boring banter. It seemed nonstop. I hope that the characters portrayed in this audiobook speak to someone.

Books could be more enjoyable

Narration needs improvement. The sing-songy voice is irritating. Hard to find the men sexy as they are made out to be when they lack a manly voice. I love Harvey's character but his voice makes him sound as old as dirt & then some. Mona is supposed to be sexy but her voice sounds like an old lady who has anything sexy on her mind. This narrator can't pull off male voices & not enough range for the women & children. The kid's voices make me want to punch them in the face. all that whining gets on my nerves. Zoe sounds like idk what. Awful. She's sing-songy too. Annoying with that snobby quasi aristocratic sound. Is it really so difficult for a seemingly successful author to budget a male & female narrator to cover the characters? This author has an Evonovich-esque style. While I do enjoy the books, I really detest listening to them. I don't have the time to read. listening while I'm busy with other things works for me. What a pleasant experience it could be with better narration. listening to these books is like wanting a delicious cup if hot cocoa after coming in from the cold & getting a cup of sugar free instant made with water and only dehydrated marshmallows floating on top. let down & disappointing.

Plenty of things to Sever in Deadwood

Loved the book as usual, it just gets better and better.

You will find just as much action in this book as Violet Parker and her bad guy gun tilting possy, take up arms, hatchets and dog to kill off evil dark creatures in and around deadwood. With her tall medium at her side and her ghostly pide piper to guide her on journeys to dark places she would rather not go, Violets adventures continue with her enemies growing in number and commitments to her family just as many you wonder how she manages to get any sleep at all.

My favourite part is the constant Violet verses Cooper contests to one up each other.

I foresee many books in this series!

I love this. I could really feel violet's emotions with the family drama. I am already waiting for the next one.

So Much Fun!

Several months ago I started listening to the Deadwood series. It is a wonderful storyline! I'm so sorry to finish book 12 and now I must wait for 13, and Violet is finally coming to terms with her executioner status!
I love the way that the story has developed and the characters are just great!
Thank you Ann Charles for your fantastic imagination and humorous writing style! I can't wait for more!

Wonderful series

Each character is very distinct and alive. These books are fun and very cleverly written. Harvey is so much fun with his quick wit and dirty mind. Love Violet she is very human with a major kickass ability.

Nothing to follow here. Oh dear

Is it just me? Okay. But nevertheless, Loads of poor language and strange unexciting sex scenes to fill jn between swinging an axe against weird but unimaginative creatures. Still don’t follow but don’t care enough to finish. Some readers will find it ‘new’ though. Kind of baby talk for rude children which can be funny if your the impressionable parent.
