Protagonist not believable

Disliked the needy, self-absorbed lead. Her spineless behaviour wore me out. Other books by this author are better but ahe tends to write about similar women.

Very enjoyable audiobook

This was my first Jessica Redland audiobook and I can’t wait to listen to more by this author. The narration by Lucy Brownhill was excellent as well. The story moved very well and kept me entertained the entire time. The twist at the end was a fun surprise. It was nice to hear a story that wasn’t loaded with four letter words.

Feeling sorry for yourself

Love the story but. Sara got on my nerves. Always feeling sorry for herself. Putting herself down. Not telling her feelings.

Not her best book

I did really enjoy a previous book by the same author but this story line was disappointing

Too much tolerance for bad behavior.

Sorry some parts of the story are really great, and I like the narration. But I can’t tolerate the chronic acceptance of poor behavior by the main character. I guess all I want is fairytale stuff. I honor so many people enjoy this style. It’s just not my cup of tea It makes me really uncomfortable. Thank you for making these books available for us to sample. I love gardening, and I love cottages by the sea but there wasn’t enough of that in this book for me.

Bunch of great fluff

A cotton candy tale tied up with neat bows. I loved it in all its rom-com twists and turns.

Meh.

Really not crazy about the female lead. She seems willfully obtuse and puts more effort into tracking down the unknown than having a simple conversation with a guy she claims to love.

Not thrilled

The main character is nerve wrecking. I am not halfway through and I want to slap her. I will push through just to finish.

Feel good reading

I am reading the series and really enjoyed this second book. It is chick lit so it's an easy read. The plot is mostly predictable but there were a few additions to keep interest up.
I am really enjoying the feelgood nature of the book; the roller coaster ride with a sprinkle of high and lows that concludes with a happy ending.
The narrator really brought the characters to life and made the story come to life.
I'm back to store now to buy the third book in the series. I usually have a break and have a different read between books but it must be good as I am ready and willing for the third book now.

Does not live up to book 1.

I didn't hate this book but I didnt love it either.
Book 1 of the series - the chocolate pot cafe was a fantastic little read, I had high hopes for this book and the rest of the series, After reading this one, I wont be bothering with the others. The first book was full of layers - this seemed very flat by comparison, almost like the writer had a multi book deal and had to bang out something else. It didnt have the twists and turns, it was flat. Add to that the fact that it didnt follow on from the previous book at all!

This book was set in the same street as the original book but in a different building. Apart from them going back to the cafe a few times (setting of the original book) and the odd name being mentioned in passing, there was no link at all. I knew this book was about a diffrent character but expected there to be more tie ins and I was disappointed not to get any insight into how the original characters were doing. A great let down after such a promising start

Disappointing storyline

I listened to the full story but I’m not sure why. The lead is such a whiny character who doesn’t seem to care for anyone but herself, moaning continually and she is even given a thriving shop and still manages to be depressed about it. There is a wierd side story about an uncle who died alone, she is scared of storms because of finding him and there are many many storms in this book each of which make her sink into an even more depressing state. I’ve lived in North Yorkshire and never experienced so many storms every few weeks! The narrator is good when she is the lead but the depressing voices she gives to the men in the story make it an overall really difficult book to enjoy. I was glad the book ended as I promised myself I’d listen to the end but definitely don’t recommend it as it leaves you with a flat feeling and I definitely won’t be reading the others in the series.

Does what is says on the tin

I enjoyed this more than I thought. I liked the cross-over with some of the other books by the same author that gave you an update on some of their stories. It is most definitely chick-lit but that in itself isn't a bad thing.

Easy Listening

Beautifully narrated, and easy to listen to.
I won't lie, as I found it a little long winded. Very slow in places, but as it was a free title, I didn't mind so much.

Annoying main character

This could have been a good story but unfortunately the main character was really annoying and it was frustrating to listen to how self centred she is. She is the sort of character that only good things happens to but she is still wants more. She splits with her boyfriend and needs to move out of their shared home and it just so happens that her aunt randomly decides to give her her successful business and her home (for free). On the first day running the business she meets the man of her dreams but she continues to look for another man in case this dream man was not ‘the one’ and dumps him when she finds one with a more appropriate name. When she thinks the dream man has moved on she suddenly decides she wants him after all. She seeks advice from her best friends and delights that they fight for her affection. Such a spoilt brat and a character I really didn’t care about.

Frustrating in parts but enjoyable all the same.

Despite finding the ‘heroine’ extremely stupid and annoying, I did really enjoy this book. It was also narrated beautifully. On to the next story in the series now.

Nice story & easy to follow

Nice little story "Hallmark-Style". Easy to follow and nice when you're on the go and just want something nice and relaxing to listen to. Not my favourite novel from Jessica Redlands but it's still a nice story. I also like how it references characters and locations from previous novels. That's a nice touch!

Sweet book

This was a good book that had a few surprising twists. It was nice to listen to a romantic novel which didn’t need to have graphic sex scenes described. I’d recommend this as a sweet book to listen to as it held my attention throughout.

Cringe-worthy romance!

My apologies to the author, but she can only get better!
Being a person who can’t not finish a book, I sped the narration up in an effort to get through this quicker. Predictable, vomitously over the top romance.

Great summer “read”. Some humour, romance and all too real awkward moments. Really enjoyed listening.
