The ultimate cure that could heal any disease? Crazy. That's exactly what research scientist Marian Creighton has always believed about her father's quest, even if it does stem from a desire to save her sister Ellen from the genetic disease that stole their mother from them. But when her father falls into a coma after drinking a vial of holy water believed to contain traces of residue from the Tree of Life, Marian must question all of her assumptions. He's left behind tantalizing clues that suggest he's crossed back in time.

Publisher's Summary
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found.
Now remembered as the author of the world's most famous hymn, in the mid-18th century, as England and France stand on the brink of war, John Newton was a young sailor wandering aimlessly through life. His only duty was to report to his ship and avoid disgracing his father - until the night he heard Polly Catlett's enchanting voice caroling. He was immediately smitten and determined to win her affection.
An intense connection quickly formed between the two, but John's reckless spirit and disregard for the Christian life were concerns for the responsible, devout Polly. When an ill-fated stop at a tavern left John imprisoned and bound, Polly had to choose to either stand by his side or walk out of his life forever. Would she forfeit her future for the man she loved?
Step back through history to uncover the true love story behind a song that continues to stir the hearts and ignite the faith of millions around the globe.

Seriously wonderful! I couldn't stop listening!
This book was so splendidly wonderful I literally could not stop listening! I love this author she is so very enthralling. She gets my mind so interested in these characters that I seriously cannot get anything done at my house! My husband is going crazy because all I want to do is listen to her book! The characters of John and Polly are so sweet and so riveting that it was hard to stop thinking about them while I had to go to work. I love that this author is so true to history. Give it a try he won't want to stop.

More than you could imagine
I'm not a romance reader so I was reluctant to try this book, and reluctant to keep listening when it took that path. But this book is so much more, an incredible story of love and grace, terror and heartbreak - well researched and brings to light the story of this man which I probably never would have known otherwise. A must read / listen for 2017! This is a book I would listen to again and again.

Excellent story and impeccable narration!
An excellent dramatic interpretation of John Newton & Polly's lives and enduring love. It kept me on the edge of my seat and ultimately encouraged my own faith. The narrator (one of my favorites) did a masterful job at depicting all the different characters -- She's a pleasure to listen to. The book was also beautifully descriptive of the time / history and surroundings. I definitely recommend!

Ok story but....
In this story they make John Newton out to be this physically fit young man. However in every situation where is faced with defending his honor the author has rendered him useless to fight back. This author obviously does not know much about men, especially around this era of history.

If you’re looking for a GREAT CHRISTIAN NOVEL, this is it!
The perfect novel for what I was looking for.
Not corny, but indeed full of the truth of God!
Romantic and exciting, without being trashy and inappropriate for a Christian woman to be toying around with. (Most all” Christian Romance Novels” are very dangerous in my humble opinion. This was not that!) I HIGHLY recommend

So Enjoyable
This story of John Newton & Polly was a step back in history for me. It showed how the providential hand of God works behind the scene in lives that He has His hand upon. It was encouraging to see how as a couple Polly & John were arranged by God to to orchestrate a song that transcends time & touches hearts to know God's amazing grace. Thank you for all your efforts to produce this amazing story for all to see what transpired to bring this beloved hymn to generations of seekers who long to know God's amazing grace. 🙏🏻💕

Phenomenal Story of God's Grace and Faithfulness
This story of John Newton and his meeting with Polly Catlett early in his life is an extraordinary tale of love and grace. I have long known that John Newton wrote the song, Amazing Grace, but I didn't know the full details of the degradation which he fell into as a young man. I listened with sadness as he repeated the same sins without remorse, rejecting God, even ridiculing scripture and the Lord. Yet God saved Newton's life many times . . . and for a purpose. Don't miss this story of how God worked in John Newton's life and in the life of young Polly Catlett, even while they were separated for seven long years, before finally coming together.
