Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Publisher's Summary
What do you get when you mix a dragon, a vampire, a griffin, a mage, and a human? Sawyer Smith’s life sounds like a punchline, but the mates he’s come to love are no joke. They’re fierce and wonderful, protecting him from the outside forces trying to destroy him. Add in a reluctant hippocamp and an egotistical fae prince, and Sawyer has his hands full in more ways than one.
Sawyer is closer than ever to fulfilling the ancient prophecy of the Chosen One, but the bonds between him and his newest guardians are giving him doubts. The rules are changing, and Sawyer has to adapt quickly if he’s going to keep up, especially after he’s whisked away to the land of the fae, a place with cryptic customs. One misstep could very well lead to his death.
Navigating the waters of his newest relationship is tricky enough without the encroaching dangers. Something terrifying is heading Sawyer’s way, threatening not only his life, but everything he’s built with the mates he loves. Despite their concerns, Sawyer is ready to make sacrifices, because there’s next to nothing he wouldn’t do to keep them safe.

Kind of Disappointed
First I will start by saying I do not like Henry’s character. He’s treated as if he is the MC. All of the special scenes include him not Sawyer, all of the Guardians dote on him more than Sawyer, and Sawyer barely gets any time in the story. It’s like Henry is the Chosen One, not Sawyer. It really bothers me. It’s a continued theme throughout the series. This may have been the first book so far where Sawyer got barely sufficient attention.
And this book drags a lot, it could’ve been shortened a considerable amount. They spent a majority of the time frolicking in a lake for no good reason.
I’m just not satisfied. I’m going to continue the series but I really hope it becomes more about Sawyer and less about how special Henry is.

And the plot thickens!
Just when I thought we'd get another story where Sawyer gets another mate, maybe a little danger and maybe another piece of the mystery falls in to place. But holy plot twist, we get a whole lot more! Yep, the series gets better with each book.
I sound like a broken record- Michael Dean is great for this book/series. Highly recommend!

A new guardian
The arrival of the Fae prince causes issues that Sawyer needs to address to satisfy his mates. The third audio of The Chosen One had its grip on me and it was so hard not to spend all day listening. The plot thickens and secrets are revealed as Sawyer and his Guardians flee to the Fae world. Danger lurks even there, and a new guardian is revealed. It is at the end of the book that light is shed on what the mission really is and Sawyer’s part to play. Need to move to the next story…it’s calling me!

Continuing an awesome series, great narration
Definitely a favorite series of mine, glad to check it out on audio after several rereads. I don’t always enjoy audio but loved this one. Narration was excellent and held my attention.
The series has all the elements I love in an mm+ paranormal, plenty of sweet, heat, love, and some humor. Such a diverse group of mates and it all works perfectly.
Definitely recommend this series whether listening or reading, but how in order!

Officially obsessed.
Okay, I am officially obsessed with this series! The fantasy, the adventure, the prophecy, the danger, the mystery! I am sucked in. Our group head into the Fae world, to escape more danger, where we learn a ton of new stuff - new creatures, new customs, new places (I loved the lake). But even in a different world, these guys are magnets for bad things happening. Now here’s a spoiler:
I totally called that it was supposed to be Loch, instead of the Prince! Ever since he came to the kitchen and Viv was fussing over him, it just gave me a feeling. However! The twist at the end I definitely did not expect! Things are getting more and more interesting my friends.
Michael Dean is outstandingly talented. As more and more characters emerge, the more and more voices he comes up with. It’s amazing to hear.

Chosen One, his Guardians vs the Fae
What do you do when you have 5 guardians, but the sixth turns out to be a prince...you try to avoid chaos. At least, that's what Sawyer Smith, the Chosen One was trying to do since his new Guardian, the Fae Prince Cavallon's arrival. Sawyer is still recovering from his previous near-death accident, trying to settle his new guardian Ward in their home, and has no desire of getting caught in the new drama that is unfolding in his household. But Prince Cavallon has standards like the Fae Royalty kind and Sawyer or his very efficient staff isn't pleased one bit. Then there's the bit of Sawyer not feeling any kind of connection (sexual/romantic) with the Prince, which is confusing him further. Top of it all, he is supposed to get used to the Fae politics and get to know about the various creatures of that realm (aka crash course in multi-realm learning😵💫). His guardians are also trying to take a cue from his actions, and want him to fix things with the Prince, so he starts trying begrudgingly to accept the Prince's courting😏.
In between, comes three new arrivals in the form of Sawyer's foster brother Mikey, who is now mated to Asher (Draco's cousin) and his mate Quillon. Apparently, Mikey knows about the Supernatural world too, because he can see them🧐, which came as a shock to Sawyer. So between, Mikey's interrogation about his newfound "Chosen One" status and his mates, and his sorta courting the Fae Prince, Henry, and his dog Pearl are attacked by something. Taken by another surprise attack, Sawyer decides (suggested by the Fae lordling) to take everyone, except for his brother and his mates and his staff, to the Fae realm.
Now, while Henry and Pearl are recovering, Sawyer and the rest of the guardians are also stuck at the lake Cauldon, that's supposed to have super healing properties🫧. Cavallon leaves his captain of the guards' Loch to guard Sawyer. But, what Sawyer and Loch never expected was the sizzling attraction that happens between them. Is it the magic of the lake, the fae's, or just instincts that are calling Sawyer to Loch? Why isn't he feeling this connection with the Prince? And, who is targeting him in Faerie? Can Sawyer count the Fae as his allies? These are the questions that kept on swirling in Sawyer's mind🤯. Loch is duty bound to follow his prince's orders, but he doesn't like the confusing feelings Sawyer brings in him as well.
Yes, this story is intriguing, mysterious, touching, romantic and of course "sexy times" are always there (well we have five handsome guys now🥳😘😍🤩). The most heartwarming part is how Sawyer and the other guardians treat Saeward. Ward has been hurt by his own clan, banished by them and he is suffering from really low self esteem. Yet, all the guardians are supportive, understanding, loving, and give him time to take in the situation and his new role. I just adored Henry's ministrations in coaxing Saeward out of his shell, because Henry has also gone through a similar phase. But, it's Andvari who is the strength and pillar of support. His growth as a guardian and a character is really awesome. Ms. Blake has focussed on showing some development of all guardians in every story, but there is always one particular guardian that always comes out as a strong support character. In the previous book, it was Eduard, in this it's Andvari. The confusion around the sixth guardian builds up the intrigue. But the big WOW 😳 moment comes in right after the climax, it might sound abrupt, but what a revelation. This is what story building is all about👏👏👏.
Get wowed again by the narration, which is fantabulous. I must say, Michael Dean has a knack for keeping consistent voice variation and there are new ones coming in every book. Not to mention, the character's personalities vary so much. It's not just the guardians, the whole support caste is about a total of 12+ character voices and he makes it sound so effortless 😍. I am so looking forward to hearing his interpretation of guardians 7 and 8. Narration brilliance is eargasmic too and makes a book a must listen❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.

Macy Blake is a great author who has created a fascinating world building and has a wonderfully fluid writing style.
New protagonists are added in each book. Sawyer gets a new guardian from the realm of the Fae, whose lives we learn more about in this volume. But the threat to Sawyer is ever-present and dark times are dawning. Who is out to get Sawyer?
Sawyer can use his guardians well, and if the prophecy is to be believed, his guardians are not yet complete.
The story is entertaining, the characters are created multi-layered and there are some things I didn't expect at all. I love the character development and also the interaction between the protagonists. The overall package is great: there is drama as well as action, love, hot scenes and lots of suspense.
Michael Dean does a great job and his great performance is again in this volume. It's a pleasure to listen to him as he brings the story to life and characterizes the protagonists uniquely.

New Mate, new adventures
The arrival of Sawyer’s new mate in the last book – Saeward – meant Sawyer was one step closer to achieving his protectorate of eight. In this book, we are introduced to the Fairy Prince. He has the mark, so he must be a guardian of the Chosen One. The problem? None of the other mates likes him. And considering each new mate has been drawn to their bed, this is an issue. A visit to Fae, though, makes everything clearer.
I’m entranced by this series and gobbling up the audios as fast as I can. There’s so much more I want to say, but I don’t want to give away anything of the plot. The blurbs are written very vaguely so as not to clue in readers as to what is coming next.
And since I’m doing audio, I have to mention the amazing Michael Dean and what a great job he’s doing. On to the next.

so many twists to this one!
Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted the audio version of this book.
This is book 3 in The Chosen One series, and cannot be read as a stand alone, so please read All or Nothing (book 1) and Nothing Ventured (book 2) beofe this one. There is a short that pops up in between 2 and 3, and this one gives spoilers to that one. I have not listened to it, but I think I might try to fit it in!
So many surprises in this one! I loved being kept on my toes with Loch and the Fae Prince (I'm sorry, I'm listening and can't quite get his name right with my rubbish hearing!) But it explained a lot about how Sawyer and the Guardians were feeling towards Loch and what they were NOT feeling towards the prince.
We meet another Guardian, number 7, but we still don't know what he is or his name. He simply pops up at some point and then saves Sawyer from the mahooosive plot twist of a battle I did not see coming!
The book between 2 and 3 is about Sawyer's brother, Mikey, and he pops up here with his mates, who have been mentioned before.
There was a lot to process with this one, and I loved it. Smexy level high again, and getting higher as both Loch and Saeward are fully embraced into Sawyer's circle, emotionally and physically.
Dean continues to narrate these books. I can honestly say, had someone else narrated these, I might not have enjoyed them quite so much. I love his voices for all the guys, and I love his (what I call) reading voice. It's deep and even, and so easy to listen to. Even my partner said he liked what he could hear, and he NEVER comments on my audio books!
5 stars for the book and 5 stars for the narration!

Twists that you didn't see coming
So, at the end of the last book, the newest Guardian made an impression like no one else. Sawyer is struggling with Kavalan but keeps trying. When they must go to the fae lands, Sawyer starts to discover more things that he never imagined. You will not guess what twists are heading their way but so much will make sense.
Michael Dean is incredible and simply breathtaking in his talents.

Title - Next To Nothing (The Chosen One #3)

Sawyers's life is crazy, as a human null whose in love with a vampire, a mage, a dragon and a griffin things are a little crazy, now throw in a reluctant hippocamp and an egotistical fae prince and Sawyer definitely has his hands full.
Sawyer is closer than ever to fulfilling the ancient prophecy of the Chosen One but he's struggling to cope with all the changes going on in his life, the life with his mates is getting complicated and life is getting dangerous.
Wow, what another wonderful addition to this series, absolutely love getting more characters and seeing these relationships grow. The author of this series does an amazing job of world-building. The characters are amazing, and the plot is interesting, keeps me hooked and needing to read on. The book was well written, easy to follow and flowed well.
I really enjoy this author's writing style and I can't wait to read more of this series.

More exciting adventure
This is another exciting adventure in the series and another step forward for The Chosen One. Lots of action and drama, and lots of twists and surprises. I had guessed some of the twists, particularly surrounding the prince, but the how and why everything occurred was creative and unique. The inclusion of Sawyer's brother and his mates didn't fit into the story for me, and didn't seem to serve a purpose, but maybe they will play more of a role going forward. Sawyer continues to suffer danger and betrayal at every turn, but not all attacks are what they seem, and sometimes it is hard to determine friend from foe. The ending was a bombshell that provided way more questions and suspense for the next book. Glad I already have it and can dive right in.
Michael Dean's narration is fantastic and really pulls you into the story and holds you there to the end.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Story
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
