Story
The festive season isn't always happy for Tori Spring and her brother, Charlie. And this year's going to be harder than most. I used to think that difficult was better than boring, but I know better now.... I’m not going to think about the past few months, about Charlie and me and all of the sad. I’m going to block it all out just for today. 'Happy Christmas,' I say.

Story
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Story
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At 17 she's already lost more than most people do in a lifetime. But she's learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don't have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you. Every new scar hardens Charlie's heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.

Publisher's Summary
A short novella based on the beloved characters from Alice Oseman’s acclaimed debut novel Solitaire and graphic novel series Heartstopper – now a major Netflix series. From the author of the 2021 YA Book Prize winning Loveless.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?
CHARLIE: “I have been going out with Nick Nelson for two years. He likes rugby, Formula 1, dogs, the Marvel universe, the sound felt-tips make on paper, rain and drawing on shoes. He also likes me.”
NICK: “Things me and Charlie Spring do together include: Watch films. Sit in the same room on different laptops. Text each other from different rooms. Make out. Make food. Make drinks. Get drunk. Talk. Argue. Laugh. Maybe we're kind of boring. But that’s fine with us.”
Everyone knows that Nick and Charlie are the perfect couple – that they’re inseparable. But now Nick is leaving for university, and Charlie will be left behind at Sixth Form. Everyone’s asking if they’re staying together, which is a stupid question – they’re ‘Nick and Charlie’ for God’s sake!
But as the time to say goodbye gets inevitably closer, both Nick and Charlie question whether their love is strong enough to survive being apart. Or are they delaying the inevitable? Because everyone knows that first loves rarely last forever…
Critic Reviews
“The most honest and authentic account of modern teenage life that you’ll read this year...outstanding contemporary fiction with appeal to fans of John Green.” (The Bookseller)

literally the most realistic and gay novella ever
I have no idea how Alice Oseman does it but she does. She takes characters and gives them so much dimension that you look at yourself and think: “Why does a fictional character have more of a personality than me?” At least that was the case for me.
As someone who’s been in an incredibly “boring” but somehow fulfilling mlm relationship before, I can safely say she hit the nail right on the head. Not only that, but the argument that they had wasn’t overly dramatic like in some books. They had realistic responses to realistic problems and solved them like any healthy couple would. I’m also a huge fan of non-overly sexualized sex scenes that don’t talk about all the nitty gritty details of what every…*ahem*…part of the couple’s bodies are doing. Overall, I’d say the story is beautifully written and the amount of accurate (and ADORABLE) representation is appreciated!
The narrators also did a lovey job! I loved hearing the amount of emotion that was communicated solely through words and inflection. In my opinion it’s crazy how people can do that so i’ll never have anything bad to say about a voice actor/narrator. The scene with the argument felt so real and raw that I was genuinely concerned for the narrator. There was certain cues in the text that were reflected in the vocal performance and i really liked that.
Heartstopper will always have a special place in my heart so I might be a bit biased, but who cares! My review, my opinion lol. :)

makes me feel warm
as a queer teenager in high school, i’ve currently never experienced romance, yet now i feel i have. rogue tears have trickled down my face and the story isn’t even sad: it’s the ability to experience the emotions of characters and become them, and it’s warmly sorrowful, because after the almost 2 hours of this audio book, the life that i was transferred into disappeared and now i feel empty (in a good way though :)

Listened to after watching the series
I love this so much, I’m not used to audiobooks, but this makes me want to continue listening to her other books. This also makes me want there to be another season of the series.

Heartwarming.
Literally adorable. I listened to this while painting heartstopper leaves on a canvas, thinking about my past. Very lovely.

the sweetest story i’ve listened to yet
this story will forever be my favourite. it blew up all over tik tok and stuff but i never actually thought the story would be as touching as it was. sure it’s like almost every other typical teenage love story but there something about nick and charlie that just feels right. listening to them talk about each other makes me feel so happy, to know that maybe there is a nick and charlie irl keeps my hopes up in the love department. i would recommend this story to anyone who likes a good live story, it’s soothing to listen to and tbh it’s so so sweet. parts of it actually made me tear up haha. i do wish it was longer but it was so sweet. i’m aware there is other parts and i’m looking forward to reading them too. definitely 5/5 stars. so romantic❤️
