One of the Best Books I've Listened to

One of the best books I've listened to and in the top 3 of the year. Excellent character development, truly interesting and enthralling storyline. Narration is the best I've heard from Kale Williams and he is a favorite of mine. Simply perfect in every way. Highly recommend!

Amazing 🤩

I absolutely adored this paranormal romance.

Such ana amazing listen with well developed characters and an intriguing storyline.

The narration was absolute perfection and the narrator did an amazing audio delivery and performance especially on the characters' voices.

I cannot recommend this enough

Story enhanced by great narration!

Kale Williams expertly handled this material - the vampire accents could have gone terribly wrong, but instead were fairly subtle with a hint of Italian. A lesser narrator would have tanked this book.

Overall, Felice Stevens presents a workable story that, and I can't believe I am saying this, could have been split over a second book. The slow burn - which isn't all that hot, takes a lot of time. There are some solid moments and good set ups, enough to earn a solid three stars. With more pages devoted to the character back story, dive deeper into the intrigue and this book could have been fleshed out to leave the trouble back in the kingdom for book two, the foundation was there. Near the end we are suddenly introduced to a whole lot of people and are supposed to not only keep track of them, but also care. Missed opportunity to have created this detailed world and then rush through to the end. I think more time was devoted the scene in a Macy's dressing room that there was to Damion's purple cloud dreams - and one of those things was actually integral to the story.

Massimo's imposing presence as described didn't always make it to the page, sometimes he was bland, whereas Damion seemed consistently true to himself. The expected time issues that can happen in fantasy also exist. If Massimo has been gone for 400 years with no contact back home, how is it that it seems no time has passed when he is confronted with some old acquaintances? Does time pass differently in the kingdom? Again, had this been split into two books, this world might have been explained a bit better.

Ultmately, top notch narration and some good bones make this a worthwhile listen. Recommended.

A little bit silly.

The premise for the story was actually quite interesting. However, once you start listening and get past the first few chapters, it descends into a very silly story about sex. I can't understand why we can't get a M/M story that isn't so hung up on sex. Story, intrigue, plot twists! That's what we want!

Haunting and Beautiful

I adore Mr. Williams, so I was extremely excited to listen to this intriguing, vampire story. The accents made me feel it was centuries earlier, in a world that is beyond anything I could ever experience. The first chapter is intense and sets the pace for this masterful story. Massimo made me melt as I envisioned a dashing but haunted man that exists only in the dark. Mr. William's captured his strength and the sorrow he endured.
This excellent audio production showcased present day with Massimo who is eternally bitter but still rocking that sexy accent. Damion's voice, who is now Massimo's new business assistant was perfectly portrayed, and I loved how the two men sounded so completely different. I would swear two narrators were used instead of one, it was that amazing!  I enjoyed every part of this audio from the playful banter, the romantic binding of two souls, and the dramatic fight scenes. 
I highly recommend this superbly produced audio and hope you are as mesmerized with it as I was. Happy listening!

Story-line: This is a large departure from Ms. Stevens’s contemporary romances. She has created a world where vampires exist, hidden from mankind. The imagery, at times though haunting, was a stark and brutal life for the Undead. The author is such an excellent writer and added her own personal flair, making the vampire Massimo have many human qualities.

Being banished from the fold by his father for aiding a human, Massimo has been adrift for centuries. He has amassed great wealth, but his cruel dismissal and betrayal of his brother forced him to act in ways he never imagined he would. Losing his family and the man he loved made his exile a nightmare.

A young man stumbles into Massimo’s secluded world and brings laughter and joy. Damion is down on his luck and finds himself landing a lucrative job with this secretive man. The two instantly realize their burning attraction, which is so consuming it cannot be ignored. Unfortunately, Massimo needs to return to the fold, but can this beautiful man he adores understand his true birthright?

A great love story

Sandro's greed, gluttony, and vile nature made me want to wretch. After so much heartbreak and unfairness, I was glad that Damion and Massimo finally got some happiness in their lives. Hard fought for and won. I liked that Damion wanted to be an equal partner in love and war. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Massimo and Damion

This story had a few unexpected scenes that keep me engaged and wanted to see how it all for going to be settled. There was love, laughter, anger, tears (especially with what happens with Damion's friends) and a WHAT HOW?! moments for me. The narration was great.

Well done

It can't be easy for a single narrator to do so many voices. But Kale Williams does it so, so well. The cross between whispery and growly Mossimo is enough to curl your toes- in a good way. And he effortlessly switches to Damion, a modern New Yorker with a penchant for slang.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story when I read it, but listening to Kale Williams really elevated the story.

Mossimo, exiled vampire prince and Damion, orphaned man who lost his only friends when they moved to another country and can't seem to cut a break. Their worlds collide when Mossimo's valet literally collides with Damion.

Damion and Mossimo grow closer, but Mossimo is being urged to go back home to "The Fold" to take his rightful place. But that would mean either leaving Damion or telling him the truth.

The dichotomy between the modern world and the archaic world that the vampires live in is captivating. And I've told the author that I would love to see that archaic world become more modern.

This is a great read AND listen.

Adorable

One of the most adorable vampire story I have ever read. And the audio book just as good as the book. Another winner for Felice and kudos to Kale Williams.
