Publisher's Summary

"Blade-sharp, whip-smart, and genuinely original - a thriller to refresh your faith in the genre, your belief that a story can still outpace and outsmart you." (A. J. Finn, number one New York Times best-selling author of The Woman in The Window)

"Clever and surprising.... The superb character-driven plot delivers an astonishing, believable jolt." (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

"Deserves two big thumbs up. Readers will be gripped by this astonishing story in which one gasp-inducing twist follows on the heels of another. A unique page-turner that just begs to be turned into a movie." (Booklist, starred review)

A smart, witty, crackling novel of psychological suspense in which a girl from a hardscrabble small town meets a gorgeous Instagram influencer from the big city, with a murderous twist that will shock even the most savvy listener.

On a beautiful October morning in rural Maine, a homicide investigator from the state police pulls into the hard-luck town of Copper Falls. The local junkyard is burning, and the town pariah Lizzie Oullette is dead - with her husband, Dwayne, nowhere to be found. As scandal ripples through the community, Detective Ian Bird’s inquiries unexpectedly lead him away from small-town Maine to a swank city townhouse several hours south. Adrienne Richards, blonde and fabulous social media influencer and wife of a disgraced billionaire, had been renting Lizzie’s tiny lake house as a country getaway...even though Copper Falls is anything but a resort town.

As Adrienne’s connection to the case becomes clear, so too does her connection to Lizzie, who narrates their story from beyond the grave. Each woman is desperately lonely in her own way, and they navigate a relationship that cuts across class boundaries: transactional, complicated, and, finally, deadly. A Gone Girl for the gig economy, this is a story of privilege, identity, and cunning, as two devious women from opposite worlds discover the dangers of coveting someone else’s life.

"Both amusingly satirical and darkly bloody." (The Washington Post)

Resourceful protagonist...

I just finished listening to this book and had to write something up about it. I thoroughly enjoyed NO ONE WILL MISS HER a will watch for new books being published by this author.
This is a very clever book. The publisher’s summary sets the plot up perfectly. It’s the story of a town pariah who shouldn’t be. I’ve lived in small towns for much of my life and unfortunately the scenario set up for the protagonist is all too real. Unless your roots are generational you will forever be the outsider. In this story that’s Lizzie. On top of being the outsider she’s poor.
There is some predictability and I did have the plot figured out about 1/2 way through. That did not detract from the book and I enjoyed finding out how it all would end.
The three narrators worked very well together. I actually purchased this book because Cassandra Campbell is one of the narrators and I really like her. She does the Miss Fortune books by Jana DeLeon.
This book is Very HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Don't waste a credit!

Characters were not well developed. Dragged on most of the time - hard to keep listening. FAR FETCHED does not even begin to describe the 'plot!' Just a bad, disappointing listen.

Soooo unrealistic

So it’s not bad, but it’s so unrealistic that it ruins the book. It’s also about 100 pages longer than it needs to be. I’m quite certain it was sent back from the editor with the instructions to add filler.

Character-driven thriller

“People see what they expect to see. Once they think they know who you are, their ideas are a ghost that floats ahead of you into every room, waiting until you arrive and then clinging all over you, grimy, opaque. It builds up around you over the course of a lifetime, layer by layer, until the ghost you, made of other people’s judgments, is all anyone sees.”

Lizzy is a woman people love to hate because they always have. She’s poor, grew up in a junkyard, and “tricked” the hometown hero into marrying her.

Adrienne is a woman people love to hate because she parades her filthy rich lifestyle as a social media “influencer” (and wife of a disgraced billionaire).

They should have nothing in common except the lake house Adrienne rents from Lizzy. But as they talk, they find common ground in their equal but different needs for attention, acceptance, and security.

The book starts with Lizzy’s murder and doesn’t touch the brakes. I gobbled up this character-driven, fast-paced thriller. I loved that one of the narrators is the murder victim, telling her side of events from beyond the grave.

The Audiobook performance is stellar with three actors: Cassandra Campbell (smooth Connecticut enunciation), Sophie Amoss (Snarky, scrappy, whip-smart Lizzy), and Chris Andrew Ciulla (unflappable Maine State Police investigator).

Fluff

Absurdly far-fetched plot and outcome, but reasonably well-written and sufficiently entertaining time passer. Perfect for listening to on the beach, or while doing tedious chores.

The female readers were pretty good, but I did not at all care for the male reader who voiced the cop’s chapters.

Another reviewer likened the story to something you’d find on the Lifetime channel.I’d say it’s a notch above that, since I was able to finish this book, whereas I have never been able get to the end of one of those movies, but it’s a fairly apt comparison.

Really good

You figure out the plot a tad too early (perhaps more due to the summary than the writing). But it doesn’t matter. Great characters. Totally satisfying.

Different and Well Written.

I enjoyed this book, very much. It was different. The story and the narration were both great. The twists caught me by surprise, throughout as did the ending. A very satisfying listen.

An excellent listen and very clever story

I thoroughly enjoyed this title. Not having read the author prior yet loving the narrator Cassandra Campbell, I took a risk and whoa baby did it pay off!
I finished it across two days, which is unusually quick for me. I couldn't wait to put it back on and find out what would happen next.
I highly recommend you taking the time for this one.
