Publisher's Summary

Set against the background of Saigon's desperate last days, this concluding volume to Carroll's extraordinary naval aviation trilogy follows the adventures of helicopter pilot Lt. Tim Boyle and his best friend, Lt. Mike Santy, as they struggle to pull off the final American withdrawal from Vietnam. Boyle and Santy find themselves in the midst of chaos and danger as they desperately attempt to evacuate a stranded team of Navy SEALs before the final collapse. Carroll's vivid writing puts us inside the cockpit of a Huey on a split-second rooftop landing, lets us feel the scorching heat of the jet afterburners, and takes us deep into the jungle, where the eerie silence is shattered by the crack of AK-47 rifles.

Filled with searing authenticity and adventure, No Place to Hide is a remarkable story of heroism, friendship, and sacrifice in the face of war.

Could not get past the terrible narration

Could not get into the story as I could not get past the terrible narration. The narrator makes the main character sound like a sniveling adolescent.

Too monotone

Presenter was too monotone and didn’t show other inflections on other more important parts of the storyline.

Really good story but....

The storyline is very good. Narrator does not match tone of story. Well worth the listen if you can deal with that.

Robot reader

I couldn’t even get into the story. I find computer generated readers too distracting. Wasted my monthly credit😔

Narration is lacking

David Hilder dis a poor job of researching the proper pronunciation of locations in Vietnam and Thailand. He also failed to properly pronounce the commonly known ARVN (pronounced R-Vin) and merely read the letters individually each time. Most irritating was his pronunciation of Tan Son Nhat as "Tan Sun Nut" instead of "Taan Sohn Nhut".

I started listening because of Tom Clancy

After finishing, I consider this among my favorites in my library of Viet Nam Memoirs.

Wow

Honestly after reading this I was stunned and at a loss for words for a bit on that I thought of the book. The ending, was a full circle come around. I really really liked this novel. Give it a read if you’re a Vietnam war enthusiast, the author got everything right, from phrases to the way he captured the fall of Saigon. 10/10
