Publisher's Summary

Humanity is fractured and on the brink of war.

The United Terran Federation and the Eastern Star Alliance have been fighting in minor skirmishes along the border region for the last few years, but now it threatens to break out into a full-on war with the victor assuming control of all human space.

The Alliance has fired the opening shots with a horrific strike on a civilian target, killing millions and shocking the Federation's parliament into action. Now, mighty fleets of starships are moving against each other, ready for the final battle that will settle the conflict once and for all.

The venerable Admiral Jackson Wolfe prepares himself for one last fight as his nemesis, Admiral Vadim Kohl, looks to make a name for himself by defeating the infamous Federation officer in battle. Jackson knows events are now in motion that can't be stopped and only one thing is certain: Win or lose, nothing will ever be the same again.

No Quarter is the second book in the Unification War Trilogy and the eighth book in the overall Black Fleet Saga.

Loved thse series until this book.

Big fan of the Black Fleet series until this book 8 or if you prefer, book 2 of the 3rd trilogy.

The first two trilogies were good. This final trilogy is predictable, ripe with stereotypes and honestly boring.

Book 1 of this last trilogy was a letdown but readable. This second book of the final trilogy was not finishable, sadly.

Continues to be one of my favorite experiences on audible.

It has been a joy to listen to this series. I love the framework the author builds and the color provided by the narration. This continues to be a fantastic series. Never lets me down!

A bit more subtle would have been nice...

We knew who the traitor was for a long time now, kind of obvious. Other than that, I love this series!

Really Love the Black Fleet Series

I've become an audible-file since the pandemic. So I hungrily search for new series. The thing with audio books, that I think Audible understands is that there is a combination of good writing, and good narration. I've heard some pretty bad over-produced audiobooks with sound effects. Those end up feeling gimmiky and distracting. That's why in this series of books, I appreciate the narrator setting the tone and keeping you engaged. Also, I hate books that keep going , without changing the story. It feels like a cash-grab (yes B.V. Larson, I'm referring to Undying Mercenaries). The Black Fleet series (8 so far?) has had a progression of events, loss, and a sense of a ending. I may re-listen to the books again later this year.

continues to keep an engaging plot

luck is starting to run out for our heroes and they are forced to realize heavy losses when fighting their own kind.
the downside is the amount of repetition of historical events within the space opera, often multiple times in a chapter. this is why the story looses 2 stars, as it started to become annoying, as opposed to being informative.

I was caught flat footed

Honestly thought that I could be continously gripped by these books.. But 8 books later and its still page turning stuff. There are some gripes, as this far into a series I don't feel like I need constant reminders about the various characters or historic events (sometimes multiple times in one book)... But it's a small price to pay.
So off for another hyperbolic orbit around the next book 💫 😂

Obvious plotline continues :/

Oh no! Though I’ve given the other two trilogies straight fives, these last two books have really creaked under the weight of a really obvious plot line heading in from far away- if you read the book before you know just what I mean as the character was bafflingly uncharacteristically placed almost as an afterthought, set up to make a story later.
It’s still a good book but it is a bit spoiled by this character who unfortunately is going to be a major party of the last book now too.
Ho hum.

Amazing

About 3 hours to go but I have to say this book up to now in my opinion is the best of all 3 of the trilogies , they are all amazing , but the section in this one about the Jericho for me was one of the greatest scenes in any audio book I have listened to . Simply stunning !

Gimme the next one now!!!!

This whole saga has been outstanding. No spoilers but the ending of this one has me very keen to hear the finale.
The storyline is excellent, the characters are so very well developed and the narration is spot on.
All aspects have come together perfectly.
