Publisher's Summary

Even perfect families have secrets....

Niamh and Conor Ryan are the perfect power couple: smart, successful and beautiful, they have an enviable relationship and an idyllic family life. But then the unthinkable happens. Their oldest son, Tom, is the victim of a hit-and-run. What was Tom doing out walking so late at night? Did he really have problems sleeping, or was he secretly meeting someone? Is it a coincidence that his friend, Lauren, committed suicide nearby - or is there something more sinister going on?

Detective Garda Cathy Connolly is part of the team investigating both incidents. As she delves deeper, she realises that all is not what it seems in the Ryan household and that everyone connected to both cases have their own reasons for hiding things from the police.

With her boss and mentor, Dawson O'Rourke, in line for a promotion on the other side of the country, it's time for Cat to consider not only what she wants from her career but also where their relationship is going. However, when a terrorist threat is unveiled close to home, will Cat be able to put the pieces together in time to save the day? Whatever happens though, there is no turning back....

Incredible author - well done Sam Blake!

This is the third in the Kat Connelly series, and the last in the Audible Libary. These books have been the best detective series I have listened to in a long, long time - and I have listened to most of them. Please Audible keep them coming. My eyes are not good enough to read books anymore and I depend on you to keep releasing Sam Blake's books.

Disappointing conclusion to

Personally I thought No Turning back was the weakest book in the Cat Conally series. I found it was very slow; and I wasn’t really interested in the story. I would recommend the first two books in this series over this book

Flawed writing - decent story

How many times do we need to know that Cat took another sip of coffee? I counted 7 in the penultimate chapter alone. Do we need to know quite how much her stomach churns? Was the kidnapping of SJ 2 months ago, or 6? Both times frames were given. There are many such irritations throughout the writing sadly, which spoiled the listening for me. We must blame poor copy writing, I assume. I heard the book through to the finish only because of the, once again, excellent character full reading by Aoife McMahon - she saved the day!

Best to date!

I'm so pleased that I started this series of books from the beginning and have followed the journey of Cat from the outset in Little Bones. The plots, complete with their twists and turns seem to get more intricate and enthralling with each book and this third one had me gripped in a roller coaster ride throughout. It surpassed the other two and I shall be watching keenly for the next in the series. Superb narration! Thank you!

Engaging Storyline

I have enjoyed all 3 of the Cat Connelly series thus far. Interesting main characters & multi faceted storylines which certainly keep me engaged. I love the authenticity of the Irish location & the narrator does a great job bringing each character to life. The author has a tendency to over describe in my opinion, but that won't stop me from looking forward to more of Cat & O'Rourke.

If this is the final book in the Cat Connolly series, it's been a good one. I have really enjoyed the three Sam Blake books I've listened to.

Okay but

So much telling and not much showing. I felt this book dragged on with too much exposition. Not sure if I will continue with the Cat series or not.

Crackin' tale--not perfect but v. enjoyable

Some things about this book made me sigh. i was looking for something in the vein of the brilliant Jo Spain. At first i thought the writing of this was a bit clunky and cliched by comparison -- as are some of the characters. But i must admit i was totally engrossed, contriving long walks to get more of it. Certainly a gripping story.
The narrative is ambitious and therefore has exciting moments but it also gets a little overblown and almost veers out of control. Also some details are glossed over and if you think too much about it, you can only conclude that the genius cops are not that systematic and overlook some obvious points. However, i guess the mark of a great crime writer is maintaining the suspension of disbelief so readers don't get hung up on implausible detail. i think she does that for the most part.

I'd certainly recommend this. And Aoife McMahon is one of the best Audible readers of all time.
