Not disappointing

I very much looked forward to this release, knowing the author would bring a new point of view in his retelling of classic Norse myths. He did not disappoint, and this book was a swift in clear prose style. I enjoyed the subtle humor that only enhanced a story where appropriate, and did not alter the pace of the legends.

just terrible...

Multiple inconsistencies with other sources of Norse mythology. The performance was the worst I've heard. Valentina Di Paola... I will remember her name to avoid anything else she's read.

Confused

What is up with the narrator? Why would they use someone with such a heavy accent? Is she Scandinavian? That would make sense but I’m just started it and super sad I can barely understand her she sounds like a robot.

narrator

The book itself was written alright but I found it difficult to follow at points due to the narrator's Hispanic accent while pronouncing Norse based words and names.

Terrible Narration

The narrator’s accent and pronunciation of words was not understandable for most of the narration. I would not recommend this to anyone.

English version needs a native English speaker

Extremely difficult to understand this performance and was distracting to listen to. Also, snakes aren't poisonous. They are venomous. This was said many times throughout the book.

I tried to get past the narration but couldn’t

What I could understand of the information was interesting. However, I couldn’t get past the first chapter because of the terrible narration. Her accent was so thick, I spent most of the time trying to understand what she was saying rather than being able to enjoy the content.
I may buy the physical book but had to return this audible selection.

Great idea, awful book

There were alot of facts that weren't accurate, and the writing was horrible. Some sentences were a whole paragraph, and it made it very hard to follow along. Also, the narrarator was hard to understand as well.

Absurd choice for narrator.

The content itself is good - Covering quite a large array of topics. This though is pretty much ruined by the narrator. I can't quite comprehend how this publisher thought that this narrator was remotely suitable for narrating this work. I've never been so frustrated with an audiobook - You have to put a significant amount of effort into actually understanding what this narrator is saying most of the time, with mispronunciations abound and, as others have stated, long pauses before she pronounces many words. I have unfortunately had to completely abandon this work and bought the book to read directly.

Bad narrator

The narrative is very bad. She tries to pronounce every word correctly which results in long pauses and discountiuty of sentences. The book itself mostly pictures the family tree of North gods rather than describing the North mythology. I was not satisfied with this book.

It's the voice and pronunciation that's putting me off massively. The story's are fine tho.

tørr

opplesning er litt for firkantet og det er lett å hoppe av historiefortellingen .

Interesting but the narrator is AWFUL

Oh dear me, this is a good book, however what let’s it down massively is the narrator. She sounds like a computer. Dreadful! I had to turn the book off because I couldn’t listen to her past chapter 1 which is a shame because it’s a good book.

Lack of suitable words

The narration... Is absolutely terrible. Both english and norse words are pronounced in annoying and wrong ways. I struggled to finish it because of this. The book it self is not totaly bad. But the narration ruined it for me.

Awful narrator, could not finish.

I had to push myself to recognize many of the common words.
Really bad accent, barely understandable.
I am very sad, really wanted to listen to this.

Disappointing!!!

I really like the author's work but this was such a disappointment. I loved myths and legends as a child, especially the Norse ones, and hadn't read a collection of Norse stories for many years. So I was really looking forward to one of my favourite set of myths being retold by one of my favourite authors.

Nothing really to see here

I'd recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read any Norse myths. Its an adequate introduction. Otherwise, there's no real point in bothering.

The book is good, but kinda not fully satisfactory to me. But I'm guaranteeing you, it won't disappoint you.
