Story
The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

I've hated Rachel Dawson since I was seven years old. My next-door neighbor and number-one sworn enemy - she's the reason why almost all of our childhood fights ended with me setting something of hers on fire. (Or, vice versa.) She snitched on me when I broke curfew. I snitched on her when she lied about having a boyfriend. We went back and forth like this throughout high school, both vowing to never talk to each other again when we went off to college. But that was until she showed up at my apartment during my senior year and asked me for a temporary place to stay.

Fabulous story -- great character interaction
The plot is about a private chef (Roxie - Chef) moving home and meets Leo (Organic Farmer). Girl meets boy. Okay, but what really stands out is the dialog. Clayton created a conversation style in this novel that sucks you in big time. The dialog goes from charming to funny to endearing to.... There are genuine moments where you can't help from smiling. This is not a spoiler. I found the Bee scene very funny.
The narration in this novel is outstanding from both Thibodeaux and York and makes the work come alive with a heartbeat of its own. Listening is so much more enjoyable than reading it I would think.I have listened to the Cocktail series from Clayton and loved it. I recommend that series as well.
This The Hudson Valley Series is off to a great start. Give it a read. You will not be disappointed.

Cute, Funny and Sweet
I passed this book over a few times until it went on sale.
I gave it a try mainly because of Sebastian York.
The problem is he only narrated the prologue.
Why does audible even bother to list a narrator who literally narrates 5 minutes at the end of a book?
I feel like that's just false advertising.
I took star's off because I was expecting dual narration.
I already think it makes no sense to have a female doing male parts and a male doing female part's when you have 2 narrator's.
If you catch this book on sale it's worth killing a few hour's listening to.
But worth a credit? I don't think so.

TOTALLY ADORABLE
This book had me laughing out loud before I'd made it through the first chapter. Everything was right about it, my only exception is Shayna Thibodeaux's narration, it's 'nasally' in some ways, and her reading sounds like one huge run-on sentence---8 hours of this, becomes a little much. I love the humor and sass of Alice Clayton books, and this one had it in spades! If you're in the mood for a light-hearted romance, that will probably make you want a snack, NUTS is a great option.

"How do you spell relief?
T-O-U-C-H M-Y-S-E-L-F.
Well, a girl’s gotta do what she’s gotta do . . ."
This book is phenomenal. Let me just tell you, I love Wallbanger, hello Simon! But Nuts is making me say skooch over Simon, Leo is here.
"Maybe I was now zoned solely by Leo Maxwell."
I've never really had a thing for farmers, ever. I appreciate their hard work and enjoy their bounty, but I've never wanted to bed one. That's right, bed one. Until I met Leo Maxwell. He handles himself with a cool confidence that cannot be denied. He is completely swoon worthy. I spent 98% of the book swooning.
"I should have known when he licked my spine that this guy was going to ruin me."
It's pretty unusual for me to like the leading female as much as the leading male, but Roxie is awesome. I love her determination and her drive but mostly her sense of humor is unparalleled. She has the ability to take an awkward moment and turn it in into something spectacular. Sometimes it's hard to relate to a chef but she didn't make me feel like a slacker for liking simpler recipes.
The audio version of this book is equally as impressive. The narrator for Roxy is a perfect match. I could not have picked a better voice!
Overall I give Nuts 5 stars! Loved it!

Lost interest
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Meh. I didn't hate it but there wasn't a lot of character development and tension. It was quirky and light-hearted, which is great if that's something you like. But other than her having a crush on a guy who immediately gets in her pants, there's not a lot of conflict or tension between them.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It's a very easy read, but again, I like a little more substance in my stories, especially at what we pay for them. More character tension and conflict, otherwise it's all too easy.
Have you listened to any of Shayna Thibodeaux and Sebastian York ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No

Laughed so hard!
What made the experience of listening to Nuts the most enjoyable?
This book is hilarious. Great story and romance but the humor really seals the deal. If you haven't listened to any Alice Clayton books before this is still a good intro. They are all great.
What other book might you compare Nuts to and why?
Wallbanger. Listen to it. You will love the characters and laugh too. The Redhead series too.
Which character – as performed by Shayna Thibodeaux and Sebastian York – was your favorite?
Roxy
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yep. People driving next to me on my commute were looking at me like I was nuts because I was laughing out loud like a crazy girl while listening to it.
Any additional comments?
Love, love it!

I loved this story. Roxie is hilarious - her adventures or mis-adventures! The male lead is fantastic. Mom is a wacked-out hippy and the twist - super story telling. Good secondary characters and potential for more. Buy this one!

Ok
I really struggled reading the first half of this book. Maybe you need to be into baking and food to appreciate it. It seemed to be dragging on and not particularly going anywhere. If I hadn't spent so much money on it I may have abandoned it. I'm so glad I didn't because the second half had me hooked. I fell in love with the characters (characters that I couldn't relate to during the first half). The book basically follows Roxie who moves back to her hometown to manage her mum's diner for a few months. During her stay she meets super duper sexy farmer Leo and they start up a relationship. Roxie has no intention of staying in her hometown and Leo has no desire to return to the big city, but, they didn't take into account the possibility of falling in love. Some funny moments, interesting characters, great chemistry and beautiful writing.

FUNNY, ROMANTIC AND THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE
This is the first book i have read by this author but i laughed so much at her adorable humour i will be buying more! From start to finish this book will keep you entertained, laughing and enjoying the attraction that Roxie and Leo find during their story. Intelligently written i can only tell you that i was laughing out loud, or at least grinning, all the time i listened to the book. Narration was great too which is always a bonus when combined with a great book. I was sorry that Sebastian York's part was only a short epilogue at the end but still a worthy credit! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
