Publisher's Summary

ONE asks the simple question: How can I create a life filled with meaning in a world without purpose?

We all experience moments when we realize we are content, yet something is missing. We are comfortable yet we remain unsatisfied. We are free, but still feel trapped. We are alive but know intuitively…there must be something more.

ONE offers a bold new approach to individual fulfillment. It challenges each of us to rethink our unique story, embrace our own personal authority, and engage our one true superpower: The ability to change our own mind.

Through ONE, we are taken on an epic journey that explores the evolution of YOU - a unique, self-aware, and sovereign being who is free to learn, adapt, and make choices. The right choices determined though acknowledgement of the “true YOU” will transform your life. And a better YOU positively impacts the direction and ultimate destiny of humankind.

Along the journey, we visit with ancient mystical thinkers, discover the lost wisdom of antiquity, wander across the dazzling cosmos, wade through the infinite conundrum of the mind, and venture into the strange indeterminacy that is the heart of the atom as we explore the unnerving yet energizing potentialities that abound within YOU - the transformational self.

In this wide-ranging and illuminating story, Jerome Michael McLaughlin, persuasively and poetically asks us to recognize (“re-cognize”) how each ONE of us, as self-aware and sovereign beings, holds the key to our collective destiny, the ultimate answer to the triumphant future of us ALL.

“YOU have two lives, the second begins when you realize you have just ONE.” - Confucius

A must have!

As someone that has been listening to Audibles on Self Awareness, Improvement and Actualization I can say this is at the top of my list. it was hard to stop listening when I started.
It shows a great way to look at life and helps you understand many truths about yourself and humankind. It has given me more hope but also perspective on living from the inside out while living a balanced life. There's deep peace and joy in that.

A weaving together

McLaughlin has taken us for a journey and it does not disappoint. On a voyage to discover consciousness and the operations of the mind we have a difficult time discovering where we are and where to begin. Perhaps because like Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle if we look directly at the idea we aim to measure we risk changing it or not seeing it for what it truly is. In One, McLaughlin gives us a glimpse at what it means to think about consciousness as a moving target. He asks us to look through topics — a blending of history, philosophy (old and new), science, art and life. If you do one thing for yourself this year, read this book. TWICE.

Fascinating journey to define self

I didn’t know what to expect, but the title Intrigued me. Citing Plato, Socrates, Jesus and others, the author causes one to ponder the journey to discover self. Worth a listen.
