Story
Jake is working at the neighborhood market under his apartment when the world ends. He expected nuclear war, a computer virus, or even climate change burning everyone to a crisp to bring about the downfall of civilization. But cruel and arbitrary gods from another world? Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim. An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

Publisher's Summary
What do you have when you blend a pinch of LitRPG, a touch of farming simulator, a sprinkle of epic fantasy, a whole cup of Isekai, and a dash of Home Alone? You have Arnold’s life.
Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error.
It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you. That standard procedure doesn't apply to Arnold.
Now stuck on a new Earth, in a new universe, with no way home, Arnold must use his gaming skills to figure out how to level his farmer class to 100 and gain a second class which doesn't make him want to beat his head against the wall. There is just one small problem: Farmers don't gain experience from killing monsters. Like at all.
Follow Arnold on his hilarious journey as he stubbornly comes to grips with his new reality and tries to change his destiny from that of your typical farmer.

Not bad, but not as good as the hype suggests.
I normally try to write well rounded and fully explained reviews, but I don’t have that in me right now. Apologies in advance for this abbreviated review...
This book is worth the credit, but based on the reviews so far you’d think it was the best new Gamelit series to come out this year... It’s not. This is an entertaining book that has some interesting points, but its MC can be annoying and often does and says things for plot reasons rather than because it’s something the character would actually do.
There are also pacing and plotting issues, clarity problems, and odd jumps in the timeline.
So really, I’m saying this audiobook is better than most of the drivel that needs to be sorted through in the LitRPG/Gamelit genre, and you should probably spend the credit. Just don’t let the irrationally inflated ratings set your expectations too high.

A very enjoyable LITRPG
I only give reviews for books that I enjoy and would reread/relisten to. This means that I almost exclusively rate books 5 stars. That does not mean that this book is a masterwork. It does mean the I enjoyed the story and would love for the author to be able to write more. Give it a listen if you’re a fan of the genre as it is definitely better than a majority of what gets published as LITRPG. I loved Travis Baldree’s narration as always. He is, in my opinion, one of the best in the business.

Stopped at the worst time
Trying my best not to spoil anything but it makes it a bit vague. I’m taking a break because I am annoyed at the time suck and plot excuse that happening so far into the book. It’s pathetic and annoying to listen to the MC being pulled out of story and character nearing a major set of climactic points to pretty much waste time creating and then dismissing a massive plot hole.

Not bad BUT
Story has good concept but it also has a tremendous amount of dialogue that contributes nothing to the over all plot. Also, don't get your hopes up about going on a adventure with thr MC, he hardly earns anything himself and travels to 2 cities only

Not engaging
Im only 3 hours in and I have to stop there. Theres no reason to care about the character or the story, ive been listening to a few LITRPG type books lately (like dungeon crawler carl and mayor of noobtown) which have likable characters, hooking storylines, engaging relationships etc. and this book has left me with little to enjoy or look forward to so far. It might get better but I wont be finding out.

Farmer no farm
Each chapter is set days/weeks/months apart, sometimes it tells you but most time you assume through the summary of the start of every chapter, gives the story an odd pace.
Also alot of the decisions by the author left me asking why..
spoiler....
He (MC) has leverage agaisnt the kings daughter, but cant use that to ask the king to tell the queen to F%$* off.....because at this point they have a vendetta agaisnt each other..
The story just cuts off .... the mark was not compensation don't justify that trash...
The MC gets exp early to lvl too 100 but instead buys permanent buffs to increase his stats instead of using it... unjustified never explained why.. he did sell some but not the whole 400k
And biggest spoiler of them all for me was the start, MC is in a high position with family meaning he will always be safe with family no consequences.. which means he probably created his own king system to replace the current one, via people doing tasks to be paid with experience for task.. breaking the roles they were born into....

Great LitRPG read - even if you don't like farming
This was an unusual book that I would never have picked up if not for the excellent star rating. I'm glad I gave it a try.
The story starts with an ordinary guy transported to another world and trapped in a body that can only gain experience and 'level up' through farming. Farming turns out to be about as boring as you might think it is, so the rest of the book involves him trying to find exploits and workarounds to rise in power without ever having to plant a crop.
It's a really interesting concept, and different to what I expected going in. There is definitely 'farming' in the book, but the story is more about bugs and exploits and trickiness than this being any sort of 'farming simulator' style read.
Writing was top-notch for the genre, though the story was occasionally a little slow. If I had to provide any criticism, it might be that there wasn't a lot of foreshadowing for some of the exploits that were discovered. The MC gets stuck in a situation, and then immediately works out how to get around it through the use of information that is only just revealed. It's a minor issue, and for the most part there was a really nice mix of action, town building, farming and 'new world exploration' that I enjoyed. Narration was decent - the narrator does male voices well but most female voices sound the same. Again, a minor issue.
This is an easy 5 star litrpg, going down to maybe 3.5 stars if compared to the best of the wider fantasy genre. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to listen to book two - the book wasn't the hack and slash adventure that I usually enjoy, but I'm still glad I gave it a read. If you enjoy gamelit I'd highly recommend that you give this a try too, regardless of if you think you're going to like the farming aspect or not!

Great Story and Very Funny
Loved it!
The performance great.
The story was charming and fun.
The humor made me smile a lot and lead to awkward moments of having to explain myself.

Farming Gamer's Delight
Recommended for anyone who has ever farmed any brand or RPG.
The narrators Texan drawl was initially annoying, but in context fit nicely in the story.

surprisingly good listen
I wasn't sure what to expect from the summary but this had me hooked. Good story and executed well. I specifically enjoyed the building of the MC's friendships and his interactions, especially the trap builder.. funny

Absolutely Awesome
A great story and very entertaining. The story wraps up quite nicely but still leaves enough plot for another book that I really hope the author makes

Great book if a bit unsettling
The book is very nice, however the writer gave me weird vibes relating to his fascinatinon with young girls.
He starts the book by using a cane to beat a 13 yo girl.
Later on he's wildly attracted to an 11 yo to the point of being close to rape her.
Both of these were added in just for the fun of it and held no major importance to the storytelling.
