Story
Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a 20-something hell-raiser, he's his SEAL team's new XO - and a man with a secret. Or seven. He's kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semi-anonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction - they're taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time.

Story
Look, when I met the sexy, witty Brit on the streets of London last night, I had no idea who he was. He was just that hot guy I wanted to have a drink with, so I asked him out for my first evening in town. One thing almost led to another. After a midnight kiss, we made plans for a whole lot more the next day. But when I unlock the door to my rental in the morning, the English hottie is lounging on the couch like he lives here too. Great. For the next year, I’ll be sharing a tiny flat with the sexiest guy I’ve ever known.

I’m a SEAL. Or rather, I was. Retired at the grand old age of 38, I’m at loose ends. My best friend wants me to join his security team. I’m not sure I’m bodyguard material, but he needs someone to protect his kid brother. How hard can spoiled brat duty be? Somehow, I missed the part where former child star Danny Love went from dorky TV darling to all grown up and disturbingly attractive. All the gossip about his wild ways fails to mention that he’s trying hard to clean up his act.

Story
Mason Hanks has returned to Rainbow Cove, Oregon with one goal in mind: turn the struggling coastal community into a thriving LGBTQ tourism destination. Step one is transforming an old bar and grill into a gay-friendly eatery. Step two? Don't piss off Nash Flint, the very hot, very stern chief of police who's not so sure he's on board with Mason's big plans. Nash Flint just wants to keep his community safe and enjoy the occasional burger in peace. He's not big on change nor is he a fan of Mason's troublemaking family, especially his rowdy older brothers.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

Payne. In search of: Room to rent. Must ignore the patheticness of a 40-year-old roommate. Preferably dirt cheap as funds are tight (nonexistent). There’s nothing sadder than moving back to my hometown newly divorced, homeless, and lost for what my next move is. When my little brother’s best friend offers me a place to stay in exchange for menial duties, I swallow my pride and jump at the offer. I need this. I also need Beau to wear a shirt. "Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go. Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem. Isaac “Iris” Griffin. He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time. I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him. It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members. But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

I spent college worrying about responsibilities and earning my teaching degree, so before graduation and moving to Atlanta with my best friend, Ross, I figure I deserve a little fun. I’ve never been with an older man, but the guy at the bar grabs my attention and doesn’t let go…for multiple rounds, all night long. The next day, when Ross introduces me to his dad, the last thing I expect is for him to be my hookup from the night before, in town from Atlanta for his son’s graduation. The best thing would be to pretend it never happened, which is easier said than done.

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

Publisher's Summary
Never fall for your best friend....
Pushing 30, with his reenlistment looming, decorated navy sniper Maddox Horvat is taking a long look at what he really wants in life. And what he wants is Ben Tovey. It isn't smart, falling for his best friend and fellow SEAL, but 10 years with Ben has forged a bond so intimate Maddox can't ignore it. He needs Ben by his side forever - heart and soul.
Ben admits he likes what he's seen - his friend's full lower lip and the perfect muscles of his ass have proved distracting more than once. But Ben's still reeling from a relationship gone to hell, and he's not about to screw up his friendship with Maddox, too.
Until their next mission throws Ben and Maddox closer together than ever before, with only each other to depend on.
Now, in the lonely, desperate hours awaiting rescue, the real challenge - confronting themselves, their future and their desires - begins. Man to man, friend to friend, lover to lover.

stalking skills
This is what i come upon when i start stalking a narrator. J. F. Harding is one of the best narrators out there. and on top of that. Ifind this gem of a book out there. A story about the love between two men. Best friends. navy seal buddys. And roomates.
I know this is book 3 in a series. but it didnt matter at all.
It only got me thinking that i might need to look into Annabeth Albert some more. This girl can write.

I love this series and this is my fav so far!
I. LOVED. This. Book!
First, I love the series and it’s original spinoff. Though each book is absolutely a stand alone, you get a little bit “more” if you read them in order – first the #gaymers series then the Out of Uniform series.
Ben, we’ve met before, and he isn’t as loveable as some of the other characters. He sleeps around a lot and doesn’t seem to catch a clue that Maddox is so obviously in love with him.
(Little warning, there is a ménage scene in this that involves Maddox and Ben and someone else who doesn’t seem to mean anything later – just in case you hate that stuff.)
Maddox is so, so, so wonderful. He’s sweet, sensitive, caring – and built like a linebacker! I love that! I loved how torn he was between doing what was right for himself versus what was right for his family or for Ben.
The smexy times are – as always- smokin’. Annabeth can seriously write some hot chemistry and these two sizzle! Maddox opens up and Ben gets downright naughty with the dirty talk!
I was almost near tears when our two MCs are injured – and that is what finally drew them together, I think. So, most of the story is really these two guys learning how to really be in a relationship together after years of friendship. There is still relationship angst and other issues to overcome, but a lot of this is these two guys – being adults – and dealing with a new “reality”.
This is hands down my favorite in the Out of Uniform series – these two guys just really touched me, Maddox especially. I can’t wait for the next one!
I can’t recommend the series or this book enough – highly recommended! 6 of 5 stars
Audio
JF Harding is a relatively new to me narrator. I’ve listened to the Kage series and of course the Cut and Run series but I couldn’t have told you who narrated those audiobooks. (They’re not my favorite series and I guess I just wasn’t paying attention ;) He did a FANTASTIC job with this! He’s got excellent timing and an understanding the material. He uses great voice differentiation and accents and I was really taken in by his interpretation of the writing.
I loved reading this but I think listening is the even better way to experience this!
Highly recommended!

Gotta love these guys...
...because they're crazy. Another good listen of a book I enjoyed reading. And this one was a more enjoyable listen than a read. J. F. Harding did a wonderful job narrating Ben and Maddox's story. He isn't the best at doing female voices, but that's always tough for a man with a deeper voice, so I can overlook that. In general, his was a fine performance, well read in a strong, pleasantly masculine voice well suited to the two main characters. Another win for a good author, and for this narrator as well.

Another winner!
Hearing how these two went from best friends to lovers was heartbreaking at times. Maddox is looking at his life and realizes that he has to make changes yet he is worried on how Ben will take to these changes. As these two take you on a wild emotional wild, you find yourself cheering then wanting to smack someone on the back of the head to get them to wake up. Another great book in the series and I enjoyed the glimpses into the lives of the past couples.

Hurt/comfort soulmates romance!
Narration: I love that this series uses several different narrators and they all do a great job, JF Harding included. Harding does more than just read this story - the narration is full of emotion and brought the characters and story to life. I would have loved the story if I read it, but the narration added another level and made me love it even more.
Story: I love this entire series and this book is one of my favorites. It has some of my favorite tropes. Best-friends-to-lovers. Two idiots in love and don’t realize it. Literally everyone but them knows they’re in love (and Ben’s dad even asks if they’re “finally more than friends” multiple times and Ben still doesn’t connect the dots.) A life-or-death situation where one MC saves the other. Hurt/comfort. Big life changes that one MC resists (ok this isn’t quite a trope, but it’s the kind of growth I love to see in a book.) Seriously, there’s a lot to love about this book! It has plenty of tropes and does justice to them all.
This book basically has three parts - survival, recovery and the aftermath. It’s definitely a bit cheesy and dramatic, and both guys are ridiculously stubborn, but I love it so much. Ben and Maddox have experienced practically all of life’s milestones together, the good and the bad, and have served as Navy Seals together for a while. I love it when the MCs have a deeply rooted level of love and trust and a bond that’s really tested but ultimately unbreakable. There is a tough road to the HEA, but it makes sense and is so sweet - these guys literally go through hell and back.
Highly recommend this book and the entire series!

Not knowing what you want as the sole plot line
So I loved Maddox but Ben was frustrating to no end. Bossy and without a clue. And indignant when he was given plenty of warning about what Maddox wanted. So I struggled to hang in there with him. I really struggle when the sole plot line is one or both main characters having no clue what they want and what really matters. and then it's even worse when they mistreat the hero that does know. Alas they finally got there once he got a clue. just was not a pleasurable journey for me.

SO MUCH ANGST
To say I’m shocked to have had an emotional reaction to this book is an understatement. I was literally cursing out loud and intermittently crying for like half of the book. Glad for the HEA, but unfortunately not something I’ll reread.
I love JF Harding, but there were moments either the writing or his interpretation of the writing felt a little too staccato...can’t tell which was the cause.

Good Listen
Another good installment in this series. I was super excited to see that J.F. Harding was narrating. He gave Maddox the same hot sexy voice that Kage had. (Probably my favorite voice ever for a character!). I would have enjoyed it more if the threesome/voyeur scenes were not included. While I’m so not a prude, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around wanting to see someone you love with someone else. When someone mentioned it in one of the reviews I almost didn’t read it. I skipped over a lot in those scenes. I’m still on the fence as to whether I can listen to the last book in the series because Canaan is a main character and I don’t know if I can separate my disgust and dislike for him after the part he played in this book enough to read an entire book with him in it. Similarly I had mixed feelings about Ben and his history. Maddox made the book for me and is the main reason for my rating. **** I’m adding to this review after reading Canaan’s book. While I still didn’t like his role in this book, his book (last in this series) is wonderful! I am sooo glad I gave it a chance!

Ben and Maddox
The third story in great series by Annabeth Albert. Ben and Maddox have an epic fail during a militairy rescue mission that makes Maddox think more what he wants in life. Ben has trust issues after a faiked marriage, but he has to decide if he can trust Maddox. Can they keep their relationship going when they are not both in the militairy? This is a friends to lovers
Narration is well done by J.F. Harding he has a very nice timbre and the pacing suits me while listening

Really Good
I didn’t like this one as much as others in the series but it’s still so much better than many other books. I love this author. She adds so much detail to the military aspects I felt like I was there. Awesome characters. Hot sex and romance. Top notch narration.

awesome
I've re-listened to this book so many times!! It's one of my two all-time favourites of the genre. Both the story and the characters are so well developed. The story is well thought out and executed. The performance is amazing! Can't rave about this book enough.
