Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Nobody remembers how the Causality War started. Really, there's no-one to remember and nothing for them to remember if there were; that's sort of the point. We were time warriors and we broke time.

I was the one who ended it. Ended the fighting, tidied up the damage as much as I could.

Then I came here, to the end of it all, and gave myself a mission: to never let it happen again.

A fun and quick read

I love most of Tchaikovsky's other work and this was no exception. It's a short listen but original and fun.

The Master

Adrian remains one the few master story tellers of any type of fiction. This story was both funy and poignient..may sound silly but it haunts me.

Unique, funny and engaging!

Wonderful short story of a time-warrior at the end of all things. Dripping with sardonic narration by the author, this is a quick but entirely enjoyable tale that I didn't want to stop once started. Perfect for a rainy afternoon or a quiet evening.

Not my style of SF

The story is something of a dark comedy, perhaps absurdist. If that's what you're looking for, this book will be great. Lots of memorable one-liners. And I always appreciate an author who does a good job reading their own book (which he does).

Meh

I usually love Adrian Tchaikovsky. He was fun to listen to. Story concept was good, fell flat in execution.

If Calvin and Hobbes had a time machine...

I imagine it would end up something like this. Very inventive, supremely funny, and incredibly written. Well worth the time.

Brilliant time travel dark comedy

Again Adrian Tchaikovsky proves himself a master of genre fiction. Here he plays with various time travel tropes with confidence. He also reads his work well.

Excellent if Short

Summing this book up I would say it’s “a demented Dr Who with a touch of Mr and Mrs Smith, thrown in for good measure.” Witty, (“coming from a Utopia he, of course, has no idea what sprouts are”) sardonic, without upsetting any of the politically correct brigades. As a narrator, I find him marvellous to listen to. He perhaps doesn’t have the range of voices a professional has, but I prefer his English terms and phrases better than quite a number of his other audible books. The book itself is way too short. I would have loved it to have been longer. It deserved to be longer.

Incredibly imaginative

The author’s mind is wonderful - the situation he has dreamt up is truly astonishing and unique.

My only qualm is the characters are fairly one-toned and whilst every event in the book is a great showcase for the author’s imagination the actual story didn’t grab my attention at all.

The reading of the story was very good.
