Publisher's Summary

Welcome back to the streets of Sunder City, a darkly imagined world perfect for listeners of Ben Aaronovitch and Jim Butcher.

In a city that lost its magic, an angel falls in a downtown street. His wings are feathered, whole—undeniably magical—the man clearly flew, because he left one hell of a mess when he plummeted into the sidewalk.

But what sent him up? What brought him down? And will the answers help Fetch bring the magic back for good?

Working alongside necromancers, genies, and shadowy secret societies, through the wildest forests and dingiest dive bars, this case will leave its mark on Fetch's body, his soul, and the fate of the world.

Praise for the Fetch Phillips novels:

"Superb... With a lead who would be at home in the pages of a Raymond Chandler or James Ellory novel and a nicely twisty plot, this installment makes a strong case for Arnold's series to enjoy a long run." ―Publishers Weekly

"Arnold's universe has everything, including the angst of being human. The perfect story for adult fantasy fans—a tough PI and a murder mystery wrapped around the mysticism of Hogwarts, sprinkled with faerie dust." ―Library Journal (starred review)

I'm used to the Dark

These stories have been uniformally dark, as all good Noir Detective fiction should be; but this one went both to a more dark place for our hero, and yet allowed him to find a kind of balance for his weary soul at the end that may herald an interesting change in demeanor of the story if the author creates a fourth in the series.
If a fourth book is written, I will certainly be here for it.

Preachy and Whines a Lot!

In this third book main character has become a real whiner and preaches way too much. I’m half way through the book and I don’t know if I can finish it.

Even more engaging than the first two.

I will mark these stories as favorites making them easy to find when I am ready to enjoy them again. How rare that a talented author is also such a fabulous teller of tales. More please.

QUIRKY, but totally awesome!

This is the 3rd in a series. The main character, Fetch, is flawed and believable - as are the other characters. I have really enjoyed this saga. I’m looking forward to the next book. The author also narrates; his voice, timing and cadence is impeccable.

Different story style, Same Fetch Phillips

While the first two books in the series were Noir Detective story with the added aspect of a world reeling from the loss of magic, this book is more of your classic fantasy quest story with some Noir narration for flavor. Not to give anything away, but this is even commented on near the end of the book. However, I think that was the point, and what occurs has a major impact on Fetch, his world view and his actions going forward. Although I am hoping the next book is more of a detective story, I did really enjoy "One Foot in the Fade" and recommend it to any Fetch Phillips fan.

Excellent!

The third installment in the Fetch Phillip's series is wonderful. Luke Arnold's writing only gets better. The characters that continue on from the first two books have increasingly interesting arcs and the new characters are mesmerizing.

Excellent

Love, love, love Luke Arnold! This whole series has been awesome. I will wait patiently for the next book and get it the moment it's available. I will say the cursing is over the top in this installment for me but to each his own with artistic expression. Not only is Mr. Arnold a fabulous story weaver but he's also perfect at telling his story. Excellent

Engaging, immersive & addictive from start to finish. The third instalment in the Fetch Phillips series does not disappoint.

After reading the physical
novels myself I think what made the option of also listening to the audiobooks completely irresistible was my utter delight in discovering that author Luke Arnold had actually narrated them himself.

When it comes to storytelling there is really nothing more enjoyable than listening to a novel narrated by the same creatively adept mind as the one who penned it.

After listening to the audiobook for OFITF, I was thrilled with the realisation that it has given me so much more insight into the true personalities of the wide range of characters and their many, varying and unique idiosyncrasies.

Being an incredibly gifted voice actor, Luke takes full opportunity to portray his characters complete with well executed accents combined with perfectly fitting mannerisms. Every aspect of his writing and narration compounds to create an extra depth and dimension that in no way is ever likely to be fully imagined by anyone simply absorbing words off a page, regardless of how astute and imaginative the reader or how eloquent and expressive the author may be.

It becomes almost a gift to be (re)introduced to characters as they were fully intended to be portrayed, humans and creatures to everything in-between brought to life from the direct imaginings of the author.

I can say with complete certainty these books are easily one of the best fantasy series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Utterly addictive from beginning to end, it’s hard to pull yourself back to reality once you find yourself introduced and fully immersed into the remarkable, magical and complex world of Fetch Phillips.

Luke is undoubtedly a rising star in the world of fiction. He is a exceptionally gifted young writer with enviable talent and an outstanding proficiency for story telling.

His novels are perfectly indulgent
listening for anyone who enjoys the works of much beloved and well renowned authors such as Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman or JRR Tolkien.
