Publisher's Summary

From the best-selling author of The Secrets of Us and The Best of Friends comes a novella of deceit, desperation, and how one little mistake can unravel a life.

When overwhelmed stay-at-home mom Alexis finds herself at odds with her husband after she’s charged with a DUI, she is given one chance to get her family back: complete AA and admit her faults. The problem is, she’s never had a drinking problem and has no idea what caused the blackout that led to her arrest. Still, she’s committed to working through the program, if that’s what it takes to be reunited with her two young children. But when she connects with a new friend, Farrah - a confident, successful powerhouse of a woman Alexis can’t help but idolize - she’s empowered to take a closer look at her husband’s role in her downfall. What she finds shocks her to her core, quickly spiraling into something more sinister than she ever imagined.

Excellent!

I really enjoyed the story of a lesson learned. With no one on her side except a stranger, she has to dig deep and overcome this difficult time. A somewhat familiar plot, but with a twist!

Betrayed!

No spoilers - Sometimes I appreciate endings like the one in this novella. Not this time. Ruined the book for me. I also thought the narrator was way too overwrought when doing Alexis’s lines.

It's Okay

I was intrigued by the synopsis and the first half of the novella kept me engaged as the author set the stage. There was a nice twist that I appreciated but wasn't real keen on how it played out in the storyline. The narrator did a good job although the frantic panic-yelling did get irritating. Overall, it was ok.

excellent 👌

Story and reader were both excellent. I did not like the ending...it does not finish the main character's story. Maybe there will be another book?

What a Great Little Novella

I loved this little Novella..it has a devilish ending ... I had such a grin on my face the last five minutes. It doesn't need another book to follow this one...it is just fine the way it is. Not everything in life has an ending that is tied up in a pretty little bow.

One amazing thriller

I'll have to check out this author's other works. More fine work from Brittany Pressley. I've heard of minor crime reveals major plot, but, this is nuts!. Brittany does more fine work with the character's emotions.

One Little Mistake By: Lucinda Berry

Wow, oh wow. This book really is a fantastic read. I was hooked right from the start. You really feel like you have met new friends by the end of this book. You definitely need to listen and or read this book.

Annoying narration of an unsympathetic character

I understand this is fiction, but as I listened I kept wanting to call Alyssa, the main character, and tell her to stop acting like a hysterical and get a better lawyer. The whining, hysterical tone of the narrator made this book almost unbearable until the last 30 minutes or so when she began to settle down and get a grip. I only hung in there because I needed something to listen to on a long drive.

Brilliant! And creepily apt

I have literally just found my partner of 11 years has been messing about, after years of manipulating and gaslighting me and how they still turn it upon you when they are caught out. What a fantastic book, great writing and wonderful narration , even though it brought back many of the emotions of frustration and anger I felt as no one believes you when you raise concerns. Luckily for me no children are involved and no joint accounts or drugging ( well not that I’m aware of!) but still trying to get him out of my house. This is a scary story how someone can ruin your life at any moment by the lies that they tell and know how to work the system so that you look like the bad one. Take heed.

Fantastic!!

My first audio book didn't disappoint, the narrator told the story with passion. Like all Lucinda Berry's previous novels, this one was also fantastic. I loved the twists and turns, especially the ending that left you wondering what Alexis may actually be truly capable of.

Great story line but abrupt ending.

I throughly enjoyed the story line in the book. The reader really brought the characters to life as well and I was looking forward to finding out how it would all play out.
Sadly the ending was so disappointing. It was such a big build up and then suddenly ended, out of no where?! So much so that I thought I must’ve missed something and went back to listen to the last two chapters again. I’m Gutted about that because it was a great story.

Beautifully narrated, well written

Enjoyed it. Very well narrated. Plausible whodunit. But wondered why the surprise 'baddy' wasn't still on prison.

Narration perfection.

I love this narrator and she told this story passionately. It had a few twists and turns which suprised.
A woman shredded by the unfairness of life. Her desperation and the final results were not as expected but... Go girl!

Heart Wrenching

This was a hard one to listen too as it could be a true story. Narrated and written well. Easily drawn into the characters and empathising with the main lady. Worth a listen

Really enjoyed this novella. I listened in one sitting. I also enjoyed Brittany’s narration. I might look for more books written by Lucinda Berry.

Short but decent

Was almost put off listening due to complaints about the ending. More to the imagination I'd say.

It's a somewhat predictable plot but I think it got the job done and no real complaints from me. Good short listen.
