All Marnie wants is somewhere to call home. Mourning lost years spent in a marriage that has finally come to an end, she needs a fresh start and time to heal. Things she hopes to find in the rural west Lancashire village her mother always told her about. With nothing but her two green thumbs, Marnie takes a job as a gardener, which comes with a little cottage to make her own. Story
Alice Rose is a foundling, discovered on the Yorkshire moors above Haworth as a baby. Adopted but then later rejected again by a horrid stepmother, Alice struggles to find a place where she belongs. Only baking - the scent of cinnamon and citrus and the feel of butter and flour between her fingers - brings a comforting sense of home. So it seems natural that when she finally decides to return to Haworth, Alice turns to baking again, taking over a run-down little teashop and working to set up an afternoon tea emporium.

Absolutely Heart Warming!
I immediately fell in love with this book! As always, Trisha Ashley does the most beautiful job engulfing the reader into the actual story itself. Her attention to detail is part of the charm of her writing & her ability to draw the reader into the story more closely. Since she does this so well, I find her Christmas novels to be my favorites. I was in love with all the characters & as well as the ending. Furthermore, both narrators for this novel were exquisite. I look forward to listening to many more books performed by them for Audible. And i cannot, cannot wait for Ashley’s next novel release!!

Trisha Ashley did not disappoint. From the quirky characters to the convoluted coincidences, it was true to the author’s form. All of the characters were well formed and added to the story. I will read this over and over (as I do every book by this author.)

I almost didn’t buy this because of the reviews
I was amazed to read the review I wonder if reviewers need to get their equipment checked. Comments about the tone of the readers voice and other non flattering comments. It was a lovely story and it. Stands being read repeatedly. No gratuitous violence and a really interesting story. Very much as good as all the Trisha Ashley books I have read so far. I recommend this for a really good read at any time especially at Christmas.

Perfect reading for Christmas
I absolutely loved this book, not least because almost all the characters were credible and engaging. There were no silly plot devices, no unbelievable twists or misunderstandings, just sheer good story telling, and festive feeling. Just don't listen to it if you are on a diet.

Poor compared to other works by author
This felt quite naieve compared with some of the authors other works. In fact I wondered if it had been written by someone else under Tricia Ashley's name. The narrator voicing Dido's character delivered the lines in quite an odd way, rushed and with no feeling. Overall it was passable, but I wouldn't rush to pick another by this author based on this novel.

xmas at the castle was a joy !
What a great story this was , maybe Trisha Ashley's best yet. It had all the great characters she dreams up , and an imaginative tale with plenty of humour thrown in. I felt I was there in the castle ! I enjoyed it while working, it wasn't difficult to follow.
However, I thought the comments about the main narrator being a ' bot ' were harsh and quite mean. Maybe yes she didn't have a sing song voice , but I thought she was fine once I got used to it . I felt she talked quickly so I just turned the speed down slightly.
I wouldn't listen to this story if you are hungry though , or on a diet ! 😄
