Anger is a universal human experience. For many of us, it is the single greatest challenge in every area of our lives. We have been taught that anger itself is a sin and should be avoided at all costs. However, anger is also understood to be 'nature's way' of preparing man to respond in times of danger. How then do we go about bringing this volatile emotion under the Lordship of Jesus Christ? Gary Chapman gives us the perfect tool to answer this and many other questions in The Other Side of Love.

Conventional wisdom says that "it takes two" to turn a troubled marriage around and that both partners must have a shared commitment to change. So when couples can't agree on how - or whether - to make their marriage better, many give up or settle for a less-than-satisfying marriage (or think the only way out is divorce). Fortunately, there is an alternative. It Takes One to Tango is a groundbreaking guide that shows how one determined partner can spark lasting, significant change in a marriage.

Cracking the communication code between husband and wife involves understanding one thing: that unconditional respect is as powerful for him as unconditional love is for her. It's the secret to marriage that every couple seeks, and yet few couples ever find. While both men and women deserve both love and respect, in the midst of conflict the driving need for a woman is love and the driving need for a man is respect. When either of these needs isn’t met, things get crazy.

Good lessons over all.
Where does One More Try rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
little bit below average
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
He recommended a book by Judith Wallerstein. Will be reading that next.
Least: the really religious parts.
Any additional comments?
This is another great book from Gary Chapman. But it was heavy on the religious side. There where a couple chapters including the begging that where only about religion/god.
Recently i have started practicing my higher power as self-actualization and also working on mindfulness. So listening to the religious parts I was able to turn those around to work for me at least in some parts. But was still a little preachy.

Super good advice. Although it is difficult, this book helped me to realize what some of the dysfunction is that I bring to my marriage and how I can improve, whether my wife will or not. It was also very thorough in a book that was not especially long.

this is not a manual to save your marriage !
this is a proselytizing religious pamphlet.
I got a lot from the 5 love languages book and when I saw this I was really hopeful for some help.
There is no comfort here, just snide admonitions that the problems with your marriage are because you aren't godly enough.
about as comforting as a hug in broken glass.
