Story
A New York Times best seller! Brokenness doesn't only find us in the big things - things like illness, hardship, or grief. It can find you in the everyday. Learn to walk in a way that glorifies Jesus and receive freedom, not beyond your fear and pain, but within it. We are fragile and we know it. Sometimes, living with Christ in a messed-up world feels less like victory and more like walking uphill. The Broken Way is simple in presentation, written in Ann’s unique style - a new way for desperate Christians in need of a fresh revelation of the grace of God.

And each of us holds enough brokenness to overflow - to be given as the greatest story of our lives. Publisher's Summary
More than 1.5 million copies sold! What if you discovered that the life you already have is the life you’ve always wanted? What if joy is possible right where you are? New York Times best-selling author Ann Voskamp invites you to embrace everyday blessings and embark on the transformative journey of chronicling God's gifts.
How can you find joy in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama, and even the death of loved ones? What does the Christ-life really look like when your days are gritty, long, and sometimes even dark? How is God even here?
“It is in the dark that God is passing by...our lives shake not because God has abandoned but the exact opposite. God is passing by. God is in the tremors. Dark is the holiest ground, the glory passing by. In the blackest, God is closest, at work, forging his perfect and right will. Though it is black and we can’t see and our world seems to be free-falling and we feel utterly alone, Christ is most present to us...”
In One Thousand Gifts, Ann Voskamp invites you to discover a way of seeing that opens your eyes to ordinary amazing grace, a way of living that is fully alive, and a way of becoming present to God that brings deep and lasting joy. It's only in the expression of gratitude for the life we already have, we discover the life we've always wanted...a life we can take, give thanks for, and break for others. Come to feel and know the impossible right down in your bones: you are wildly loved by God.
As Ann invites you into her own beautiful, heart-aching moments of amazing grace, she gently teaches you how to:
- Biblically lament loss and turn pain into poetry
- Intentionally embrace a lifestyle of radical gratitude
- Slow down and catch God in the moment
Not an audiobook merely to listen to, One Thousand Gifts is an invitation to engage with truths that will serve up the depths of God’s joy and transform your life forever. Leave pride, fear, and control behind, and abandon yourself to the God who overflows your cup.

This book will change your life.
I requested this book to be on Audible. Don't know if my request is the reason it's here, but I'm so grateful they got it so fast. I've known about it for nearly two months, and anxiously waited for it to be released in hardback. Couldn't stand the wait and bought it on Kindle, read it in one day, then immediately started over, so I can savor every drop. I pre-ordered 6 copies to share, and I'll be ordering 10 more this weekend. I cannot get enough of this book. The day it was released, it was #12 on the Amazon bestseller list, and now, 10 days later, it has over 150 5 star reviews. This book cannot adequately be described; it truly must be experienced. It teaches how learning to accept all of the events in our lives with gratitude brings God's spirit to us and us closer to Him. You'll read it (and/or listen to it, as the case may be), and then you'll read it again and again. Do yourself a BIG favor and get this book. You can thank me later. :)

Absolute Must Read
The book was beautifully written and thoughtfully narrated, and the "project" was meticulously undertaken. I appreciated the author's honest account and that she didn't try to fool us into believing that every aspect of this was easy or wonderful. I loved the glimpse into her personal life while sticking to the point. If I could buy a copy for every woman I know, I would. Do yourself a favor and read this, then allow yourself to sink deeply into "Eucharisteo" and see if you aren't transformed just as much as the author. Absolutely delightful.

This book changed my life.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the way it made you see God in the ordinary moments in life. We wait long for the big moments when God speaks to us. We lament that we can't find Him. But in reality Gods speaks in the quiet moments of everyday life. When you recognize that, God is always with you; you are never alone.
What about Ann Voskamp’s performance did you like?
Her performance conveyed the joy and wonder you feel when you see God in the simple things.
Any additional comments?
After the death of my husband, I felt alone and abandoned by God. This book helped me rediscover God in day to day of life, even in the trials or struggles of life.

A guiding Pleasure
This book really gave me so much insight and a wonderful way to see the world and the everyday life. As she tells her story, she also teaches...And her voice is amazing,,her story is amazing, you almost feel as if you were there watching. I really grew with much needed knowledge and a realization that I am not alone in the "taking for granted" we sometimes do. Brilliant.

Excellent narration but a lot of repetition
This book was not really a story, but more of a collection of feelings. There were some chapters that I enjoyed very much and were easily understood. And other chapters that I got a little lost trying to figure out exactly what the author was saying. There was a lot of repetition with the authors idea of always, always giving thanks, which is of course, the purpose of the book. But sometimes I think she got a little carried away and I would say to myself, "enough already, move on". I enjoyed the interjection of all of the Bible passages and how she used them to make her point, and she made a lot of good points, that I will retain when I need to remember to "give thanks in all things". And her narration was excellent. In fact, if it weren't for the feeling and emotion in the narration, I doubt if I would have finished the book. I think I had the message of the book in the first several chapters and could have left it any time after that and not missed the point.

Not A MUST TO READ !!!!!
What disappointed you about One Thousand Gifts?
I think this is one of those reviews that I feel bad about writing because I really was let down by this book.
I am a bit puzzled by One thousand Gifts. I am puzzled that everyone seems to love the book.
I am puzzled by all the good reviews. I am puzzled that I did not enjoy that book as I expected.
As a Christian writing a negative review about a Christian book is very hard.
So you can guess how I am feeling now. These are the reasons why I did not like this book as much as I thought:
First of all, I find the style of writing to be extremely distracting and difficult to get through.
It was hard to follow and understand because she is using this poetical style that not everyone is familiar with.
It was a challenging to fully understand what she intended. I find myself reread some of the
paragraphs because of the unconventional vocabulary she used.
Secondly, I was uncomfortable with the chapter on making love to Jesus in which the author explains as
searching a communion with God in what can only be framed in sexual language.
As a Christian I don’t picture my relationship with Lord in such way.
However, if you can push through the maze of linguistics and want to read it, here is my brief summary:
This book is an auto biographic book about a woman who dared to fully live her life.
The author created a list of 1,000 things to be thankful for. Ann Voskamp challenges us to center our life on ‘Eucharistic”. The author expresses gratitude for the blessings surrounding her. The book is about her own journey to express
her gratitude to God and to find beauty in everyday life. With brutal personal stories
Ann brings us to a journey where she truly understands grace and gratitude.

In Her Own Words... Literally!
There is something so beautiful about hearing an author read her own words. Ann's particular writing style is conducive to being read aloud. Because she relates a lot of personal stories in her book, she is able to convey the exact emotion of the moment, the sounds of the voices... its pretty amazing. The message of this book is priceless and life-changing. I wish I could buy cases of this book to give out to about everyone I know. This goes beyond your typical Evangelical self-help drivel. This book is meant to get into your soul, into your marrow and change the way you look at the world. Its working for me. Its a fantastic gift. Thank you Ann!

Worthwhile
This journal novel opens up the author’s life in a stream of revelations, truths from the Bible and experiences. The daily ordinariness is a backdrop of her thanks - holy observations. And it’s changed how I see my present - desiring Presence - in the unresolved conflicts (both within and out) - knowing all is Grace.
