Story
Dr. Creasy has noted on many occasions that the Bible—in its final, finished form—is a unified literary work that is linear in structure; its main character is God; its conflict is sin; and its theme is redemption. Viewing the Bible from this perspective, the curtain rises on our story in Genesis 1, and it falls in Revelation 22. From a literary perspective, Revelation is the final chapter in a sprawling 2,000 page, 66-chapter story.

Story
Although Romans is not the earliest of Paul’s writings, like Isaiah and Matthew, Romans sits at the head of the epistles and letters. Written as a formal argument and structured as a scholastic diatribe, Romans presents Paul’s great thesis that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works of Law. This is revolutionary! Romans, perhaps more than any other book ever written, has fundamentally changed Western civilization, and it is foundational to understanding all of Paul’s other epistles and letters.

Story
Although Matthew may not be the first written Gospel, like Isaiah it is positioned first in its sequence of four Gospels. Opening with a 42-generation genealogy, Matthew reminds us of the linear nature of God’s plan, and Matthew forms a link—a swinging door—between the Old and New Testaments. Matthew is a Jew writing for a Jewish audience, and his Gospel provides our first perspective on the birth and public ministry of Jesus Christ. Story
Written considerably later that the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), John takes a very different approach to the Gospel story. Traditionally attributed to the "Beloved Apostle" John, this Gospel doesn’t give us yet another version of the events in Jesus’ public ministry; John illustrates what those events mean in light of 60 years of reflection upon them. The Gospel according to John is a brilliant book, and it offers us a profoundly intimate glimpse into the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Acts follows the Church from its birth in Jerusalem through its exponential growth and inevitable persecution, led by Saul of Tarsus. Incredibly, Saul later confronts the risen and glorified Christ on the road to Damascus, where he becomes a believer. And not just any old believer! Saul becomes Paul, the great Apostle to the Gentiles. From Chapter 9 onward, Acts follows Paul on his three missionary journeys as he takes the Gospel into Asia Minor and Europe.

Story
Luke is a Gentile writing for a particular person, another Gentile named Theophilus. In his Gospel, Luke provides a detailed and orderly account of the life and ministry of Jesus. Although Matthew, Mark, and Luke draw from many of the same sources for their material, each Gospel writer adapts his material for his particular audience and purpose. Luke presents his material in a brilliant prose style, as he creates a specific voice for his narrator and specific, identifiable voices for his characters.

Read through a Christian interpretative lens, Daniel foreshadows the coming of the Messiah as well as the “end time” events in the book of Revelation. Daniel is a very important book for Jesus, who draws his self-referential title “Son of Man” from Daniel 7:13-14; who quotes directly from Daniel 12 in the Olivet Discourse; and who seals his “guilty” verdict before Jerusalem’s religious leaders by reference to the book of Daniel.

Written during a period of intense persecution under the Roman emperor Nero in 64-68 B.C., Mark offers an urgent message for a community in crisis. With its fast start (“Beginning the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God... as it is written in Isaiah the prophet”), Mark hits the ground running, and he doesn’t slow down until the final episode at the end, in which the women who see Jesus’ empty tomb say nothing, for they were terrified." Mark’s Gospel is a clarion call to action. Master story teller, Dr. Bill Creasy, sounds the trumpet!

Often incorrectly referred to as one of Paul’s “prison epistles” (he was not in prison in Rome in A.D. 60-62; he was living in his own rented house, free to come and go as he pleased), Ephesians is a brilliant exposition of Paul’s thesis that we are “saved by grace through faith”. It is also a glittering display of Paul’s rhetorical fireworks. Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy examines this extraordinary epistle in detail.

Story
Once thought to have been written by Paul, Hebrews is in fact written by one of Paul’s inner circle prior to A.D. 70, but no one knows exactly who. Addressed to Jewish Christians, our author examines several key issues from a Jewish perspective, drawing heavily upon the Torah for his support. In the marvelous chapters 7-10, our author sees Christ foreshadowed in the Tabernacle; the five great sacrifices of Leviticus; the priest Melchezedek from Genesis 14; and the Law itself. All, our author argues, are merely copies or shadows of the good things that were to come.

Be silent where the Bible is silent
This book has some really good parts to it! So why such a low rating? Because Dr Bill Creasy gives to many options on things the Bible is silent on. He tells you how people are feeling and what they are thinking when the Bible does not tell you.
For example he says that after God provides the ram for the sacrifice Abraham’s and Isaac’s relationship was strained and implies that they did not talk after this event. The issue is no where does the Bible say this, it’s his opinion.
When he sticks to what the Bible says it is good. There is an old saying that where the Bible is silent we must be too. I wish Dr Creasy fallowed this saying.

The Ultimate 60hr Bible Study Course!
Any additional comments?
This is one of the finest Bible teaching courses you can listen to and for only one credit; an absolute bargain on Audible. Dr Creasy has devoted his life to teaching God’s Word as a literary work in ~85 lessons (60 hrs). I suppose it is suggested to take one year, but I just loved it and devoured it in 3 months and what a fantastic journey it was! Dr Creasy not only knows the Bible, he knows world history which helps in understanding what is going on through every book of the Bible. I used to think Leviticus, I&2 Chronicles, Lamentations and several of the other Old Testament books were dry. But, when you have a great teacher who can bring each book to life, it is amazing!
I’ve already purchased many of the more detailed studies on each book of the Bible which is considered his 5 year course and can't wait to dive in.
Do yourself a favor and get started on this course now!

Never Read The Bible Before?
Nor had I, and certainly not beginning to finish. 63 years old, and my first time. BEGIN HERE, with this bible study and I guarantee you will be on the edge of your seat waiting for your next study, as taught by Bill Creasy! My next journey will be to read it again, with more of a philosophical approach, as this is taught in a more literary style, as text. But I KNOW, without Bill Creasy, there would be no second journey! Very educational, and most inspiring. I'm not sure who will guide me there, but I hope they reach my heart like this gifted and talented teacher !

Very Good listen with some problems
I've bought most of Dr. Bill Creasy's audiobooks. He is entertaining and adds a lot to help digest and understand the Bible. The old testament is much easier to understand with his help.
In the one year bible the audio is mostly very good but there are a few hours here and
there where the audio is bad and not understandable.
The other thing is to keep in mind that Creasy is Catholic and although he tries very
hard to stick to just the Bible....he does twist or add a few things here and there to
keep from offending persons who need
Catholism traditions to be "right." ....instead of the Bible. He tries to explain how Jesus has brothers and sisters over and over again.
He does this to keep Mary a pure virgin instead of a normal human woman.
He states as fact on occasion things that are absolutely not in the Bible.
Sometimes he is extremely good at clarifying but other times not.
I think this depends upon his audience at the time.
When Creasy states Peter became the head of the church in Rome (while teaching
Romans.) ..that has nothing to do with the Bible and is not in the Bible.
When Creasy does these things to please certain audiences it throws doubt and confusion on
everything else in the Bible.
Like maybe Andrew and
Simon were not brothers either ...maybe they were cousins living with
the same father. He goes a long way to explain that statues are not bad in churches...stuff like that, which you may or may not care about.
I have no idea if any of his adds from Catholic tradition hurt or not but just be aware. And it is not prevalent just occasional.
I still highly recommend his audiobooks.
The audio books are very good and very easy to listen to but keep your own
study going to make sure you get the facts.
I dont think Creasy intends to add or subtract from the New Testament
in his teaching but it could be viewed that way.
Not enough to discredit the rest of his teaching which is excellent.

Another Wonderful Set of Lectures from Bill Creasy
What made the experience of listening to One Year Bible the most enjoyable?
Moist of the Logos items on Audible are taken from the five year bible course but this is the entire one year class. Dr Creasy is a terrific teacher and makes the bible come to life.
Any additional comments?
As this bible is broken into 7 parts the individual sections should have been labeled to make it easier to find a desired book.

An engaging introduction to help you in reading the bible
Would you listen to One Year Bible again? Why?
This is a series of lectures by Dr Bill Creacy which give a great overview to the Bible. He takes each book and sets it in context adding humour and colour as well as a deeper understanding. I would listen again as there is so much there. However it is a long listen.
Any additional comments?
One of the lectures was out of order in my copy (I think it was one of the lectures on 2 Kings)however this may have been fixed by now.
