Publisher's Summary

"We must learn to live together as brothers, or we will perish together as fools." - Martin Luther King Jr.

With the Bible as a guide and heaven as the goal, Oneness Embraced calls God’s people to kingdom-focused unity. It tells us why we don’t have it, what we need to get it, and what it will look like when we do.

Weaving his own story into this word to the church, Tony Evans tells of a life spent between two worlds. As a young theologian he straddled black, urban culture and white, mainline evangelicalism. Now, three decades later, he offers seasoned reflections on matters of history, culture, the church, and social justice. In doing so he gives us a biblical and pastoral guide for striving for unity across racial and socioeconomic divides.

This call for unity is as timely as ever. If the church practices oneness, America will have a guide for becoming the one nation under God it declares itself to be.

Important Read

Great book. I love Dr Evans' ministry and his Kingdom focus. I would like the audiobook more if it were narrated by the author.

Every ONE needs to hear this message

EveryONE needs to hear this message describing why we have a racial divide in our country, what the roots of this divide are (you will probably be surprised), and how the church should be leading to minimize the problem.

The history of the problem, including the personal history of Dr. Tony Evans is profound and inspiring. You will better understand where your brothers and sisters in Christ are coming from and what we can do to overcome inside the pages of this. I am looking forward to reading the book now, after listening to it, as I often do, so I can really digest it and then make changes in my life as prescribed to help make our country and world truly one Christian nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

I highly recommend you get your own copy and do the same. Change comes one heart and person at a time.

The only thing that would have made this audio version better is if it was read by the author.

Great resource!

Dr Evan's makes an impactful and theologically sound case for oneness from a kingdom perspective. I was encouraged, inspired and informed by this work. The narrator wasn't the best, but led me to buy the ebook as well.

Poor narration

I’m used to listening to the author on various broadcasts. The book with this narrator doesn’t sound authentic.

Essential Reading

Tony Evans does a great job explaining black history and race relations in America. Not only does he do a fine job with the historical black church but has a call to action for the church of Jesus Christ.

This book changed my perspective for the better.

I personally feel I have been living with blinders on. Tony Evans is a brilliant writer who was able to help me understand the flaws in the world's thinking and my own. I feel like a more complete human being because of this book and can't imagine me being a citizen of God's kingdom without having read it.

A must read!

Thank you Dr. Evans for a Biblical, respectful and encouraging challenge for each of us (regardless of race) to examine our hearts from a scriptural perspective on how we can help create oneness and reconciliation in the church!
