Publisher's Summary

Law enforcement veteran Marc Cameron brings an explosive authenticity to this powerful new US Marshal series.

Arliss Cutter is a hero for our times. And his hunt for justice cuts straight to the bone....

US Marshal Arliss Cutter is a born tracker. Raised in the swamplands of Florida, he honed his skills in the military, fought in the Middle East, and worked three field positions for Marshal Services. When it comes to tracking someone down - or taking someone out - Cutter's the best.

But his newest assignment is taking him out of his comfort zone to southeast Alaska. Cold, dark, uninhabited forests that are often shrouded in fog. And it's the kind of case that makes his blood run cold...the shocking murder of a Tlingit Indian girl.

Three people have disappeared on Prince of Wales Island. Two are crew members of the reality TV show, Fishwives. Cutter's job is to find the bodies, examine the crew's footage for clues, and track down the men who killed them. Easier said than done. Especially when the whole town is hiding secrets, every trail is a dead end - and the hunter becomes the hunted....

Great New Character

I have read/listened to all of Marc Cameron’s books and I love this new series. I kept walking and doing housework just so I could keep listening!

Not quite top tier in my library but a good story

Not quite top tier in my library but a good story. This book by Marc Cameron, and narrated by David Chandler, is set in Alaska with some unusual main characters and some vicious, cold blooded Cartel killers. While I would consider this book a good first effort I would not describe it as gripping or hard to put down. It did contain a lot of elements to make a good book and I will keep an eye on this series.

Good Start on a New Series

This has the potential for good character development for the Arliss Cutter series. There are implications of many demons he carries with him but nothing specific was ever communicated. Any chance he gets he uses the cover of his Deputy US Marshall badge to beat the bad guy nearly to death with his bare hands. Clever.

The setting in Alaska is refreshing change. The core cast of characters can be developed in many directions. It will be interesting to see what direction Marc Cameron takes them.

All in all, 90 to 120 minutes of the audiobook seemed like unnecessary filler. This could have easily been a 10-11 hour read and still covered all essential elements in satisfactory detail. I look forward to book 2 in this series.

Not bad, slightly confusing

I will continue to try the Arlis’s Cutter series. My only complaint on this book is it seemed there were so many characters. It was hard to follow. The switching back and forth between first name in last name also made it hard to follow. Hoping the next book is easier to follow.

Not for me

I couldn't even finish this book. I'm sorry but I have absolutely no desire to hear a character revel in his killing of children and/or the description of murdering women. Sorry Marc Cameron you lost me there. I really wanted to like the story, as I liked the main character.

struggled with voice talents delivery

I listen regularly to books. prob 3 or 4 a month. I had to just give up on this one. maybe just a personal preference but the voice talent delivery was off, did nothing to help the story and in some cases the rythm and cadence just was off putting.

Well balanced story

This is an excellent read. Main characters are well developed, very human. Bad guys beware. Hope we see more of Arlin’s Cutter.

Only book i've ever returned

The story is good, Character development was decent. It did get a little confusing at times with the switching between calling individual characters by their last name and then switching to their first. The biggest issue for me though was the narrator. I can't quite describe what all the characters sound like but they all have the exact same accent and tempo within their speech. Maybe that's it...tempo. Everyone sounded like they were in a 1920's street gang. I don't know how to describe it, but I have never heard anyone sound like that in real life.

another excellent book of Arlis Cutter

I read book too first so it is out of sequence I find though that one need not read them in order the books are very well written maybe a little bit over descriptive of the participants yet it flows easily just enough action to keep you involved enough twists and turns enough Side Stories and makes you invest even more into Mr Alice cutter

narrator kept pausing

The narrator kept pausing throughout the story, this made it lose impact at key times.
