Second chance done right!

Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, but it has to be really well written for me to find it believable. This one was exactly what I needed. It's the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. And I truly wanted to see Hunter and Emma back together... especially once I learned why he left in the first place!

Both Hunter and Emma are great characters. I could definitely hang out with them in real life. Hunter's determination to get Emma back was fantastic, but I also liked that Emma didn't immediately jump into a forever with him. They both changed a lot in the 10 years they were apart, so it was fun to watch them discover each other again while still feeling the spark that never really went away.

The story was fast paced and hard to put down. I needed to see how things would work out for them, and it was so satisfying when it did. There were several swoony sweet moments, but in true Kingsley fashion, they also knew how to bring the heat!

The narration was well done, and I can't wait for more from this series!

All the feels in this second-chance romance!

When they were 18 years old, Hunter left his high school sweetheart, Emma, in the middle of the night -- no explanation, no note, no goodbye. Ten years later, they both find themselves back in their hometown; his career in the Marines over after an injury and her as a divorceé. Hunter is determined to reclaim Emma's heart, and plans it out like it's his the most important mission of his life. At first, Emma can't forgive and forget about the way Hunter broke her when he disappeared all those years ago, but he slowly breaks her down and she agrees to date him again. But when she discovers the real reason why he left her behind, will Emma ever be able to trust him again?

"It's good to see you, Emma." Oh, Emma's a-ha moment gave me all the feels!

It’s been 6 years since I’ve read this book and I loved it just as much! Having read Claire’s books that have come out since this one, I was pleasantly surprised by the Easter egg of Salishan Cellar Wine from the Miles family series! As for the narrators, Rock Engle and Emma Wilder nailed the performances they gave to Hunter and Emma. This was the first book I've listened to with Rock, and I will most definitely be looking out for more from him.

I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily left an honest review.

Operation Get Her Back

Claire Kingsley is one of my favorite authors and I have enjoyed catching up on her backlist. She writes small-town romance so well and Hunter and Emma's story is my favorite of the books I've read in the Jetty Beach series.

Hunter left town very suddenly and broke Emma's heart. He joined the Marines and she married someone else. Ten years later they are both in Jetty Beach again and he is determined to win her back. I thought the pacing of their romance and relationship development was nicely done. They still have the chemistry and connection, but both were affected by their separation and the experiences they'd had during the time apart.

I liked getting to listen to this book on audio. It's a fairly quick read and the narrators did a nice job bringing the story to life. I can't wait to read more in the series!

Wonderful story and narration!

I absolutely loved this story and it’s narration! I had previously read the ebook and loved it so much I wanted to listen. These narrators were perfect for Emma and Hunter! Both narrators were great to listen to; I felt engaged the whole time. If you enjoy second chance romances, I highly recommend this audiobook!

Great second chance

This was was a reread for me. I loved the way the narration brings it all to life.
Hunter is determined to win back Emma. A great second chance romance. Hunter has a lot to make up for, and he’s got a lot of work to do to even get a chance. Emma has decided she’s done with men. Read it to find out how long that lasts.

A lovely way to revisit Jetty Beach!!!

Hunter and Emma have always been my favorite out of the Jetty Beach couples so getting to hear it in audio...even better. I swear Emma Wilder is meant to narrate Claire's books. She does such a great job of catching the characters emotions, state of mind, etc. Rock Engle is a fantastic Hunter.

I am a sucker for a second chance romance story and as stated above...these two have always been a favorite. Emma does not make things easy for Hunter and in classic Claire fashion this is an angsty slow-burn that will have you not wanting to turn it off because you have to know if/when they will finally give into their desires!

Emotional Second-Chance Love Story

Operation Get Her Back was an emotional and heartfelt second chance romance. Hunter had broken Emma’s heart when he unexpectedly joined the Marines without telling her or even contacting her. When he returns years later, he makes it his mission to get her to give him a second chance. Will she be able to forgive him?

I loved Hunter and his lists. He was so single-minded and focused on winning over Emma. His past story was heartbreaking and while he should have explained, his actions were understandable. The Marines helped him reign in his feelings and grow into a stronger man. I loved how patient and caring he was with Emma. He was such a kindhearted and loving man who did everything he could for those he loved.

Hunter’s actions deeply hurt Emma and she found herself in a controlling marriage. She’s finally escaped and is now trying to find herself and the life she wants to live. She has never gotten over the way that Hunter left, but the more time they spend together, the more she can see the ways that he has changed.

Rock Engle and Emma Wilder narrated the audiobook of Operation Get Her Back. Both narrators captured the heart of the story perfectly with every inflection in their voices. They conveyed the heartbreak, passion, love and all-around emotion in the story effortlessly.

I found this story to be so full of heart, humor, and heat. The banter between Hunter and Emma was so much fun and they generated some serious heat. This is actually the first book in the Jetty Beach series that I’ve read/listened to and now I need to read the other books in this series.

Hunter and Emma

I just finished a reread of this book and first time listening to it. I enjoyed this book it doesn't have a bunch of angst or drama which made the book even better for me. Being a Marine wife and mom I enjoy a good book a little more when there is a big strong Marine in it. I could feel Emma's heartache from losing her first love and Hunter's concern of just not being good enough or dangerous to those he loves. I'm glad they found their way back to one another. My only issue for me this time around was the narrator, which has nothing to do with the book, he is just not my cup of tea.

Great second chance

This was an amazing second chance story, both heartbreaking and hopeful. Emma Wilder is awesome as always. Rock Engle not so much.

Absolutely fantastic!!!

5*+++++

Emma is reluctant to accept that she's no choice but to return to Jetty beach. Hunter was her first love but leaving suddenly left her heartbroken.
Hunter has done things he regrets and leaving Emma was his worst regret.
Finding she's divorced and returned to Jetty beach is the best news.
Setting out his goals operation get her back begins, not everything goes to plan though.
Absolutely fantastic, the story the characters and the narrators definitely recommend to listen too.
