Publisher's Summary
Combining the acclaimed trilogy of books, Bodyguard of Lightning, Legion of Thunder, and Warriors of the Tempest, plus a new short story previously only available in a small press anthology, this is the entire story of Struke and his band of Orcs. Fantasy's bad guys finally their own say in this fast moving, action packed, tongue-in-cheek tale of Orc valor and human treachery.

Orcs 1 Humans 0
This book was great. There was drama, violence, humour and a really different take on the fantasy world. Seen totally from the orcs point of view, it tells the story of how the noble and honorable orcs have been abused and mistreated by the lying, evil weaslely humans throughout history. A small warband of orcs (made up of several memorable and likeable characters) fall foul of their evil mistress and are left with 2 choices (fight for their freedom or die). You'll find yourself embarrassed to be a human and cheering for the green guys by the end of this one!

so glad I redisovered this book
I owned this book several years ago , lent it out and never got it back. Really good book and a different view on orcs which is refreshing. Quality is good but the narrators accents can be a little overdramatic.

Gave up
Nothing really encouraging me to. Continue on.
Then chapter 3 and a graphic pointless sex scene that was written in the most vomit inducing way possible.

Great Battles
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I really enjoyed the battles in this book. It was nice to have a book that didn't skimp or gloss over the battles.
While that was certainly the main plus on the book it also has some negatives. I did find it a bit tedious and a bit simple. I think maybe if I had listened to this when I was 15 I would of loved it. I now like something with a bit more substance. A story line with a bit more character growth. There is a huge horde of Orcs yet we only ever really know 5 of them.
If you wants nice easy listen that is full of battles and people being hit over the head with there severed arm then this is the book for you.
If your looking for great character development with many twists and turns then probably not.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Strike is probably my favourite character simply for the reason he is the only one with any real character development through out the book.
Do you think Orcs needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. It is a good stand alone book and wraps up most questions.

Disagree about Narrator Comment
I disagree with the other reviewers comment about the narrator.
I have heard better narrators sure, but I think John Lee is well above average.
His diction is clear and the number of times (over a very long book ;-) (thumbs up !) ) I had to rewind, were very few.
I enjoyed the book and was disapointed not to find any more 'Stan Nicolls' works on offer.
If there were and if it were narrated by John Lee, I would not hesitate.
He has also narrated some Alistair Renolds works and though the defined 'cast' in both, is limited, you can pick them out and the emotion of the writting comes through without the gush.

loved this series
This isn't a book where the characters go on a deep internal journey and struggle with the human condition or anything like that, it's an adventure/quest story with Orcs, dragons and hybrid human queens. The world is well rendered, the pacing kept me interested. there's a bit of misanthropy scattered through it though and the ending was a bit rushed imo, hence the 4* on that bit. I've listened to it a few times now, I particularly like how the world is rendered and it's a fun listen, it's good to put on and just zone out to.

Couldn’t stop listening
I read the book ages ago and I thought I’d give it a go on audible, I loved it. The story isn’t perfect but it’s entertaining and a decent length.
Can’t wait till they release the other orc books
