Story
With her mighty wings spread wide and Ardent Blade aflame, Saint Celestine is the living embodiment of the God-Emperor’s wrath. Her halo blazes like a star upon the smog-wreathed, blood-soaked battlefields of the 41st Millennium; its holy light leading the faithful to victory time and time again. As heretics and daemons tear at her flesh, she calls down fires of retribution from on high to smite the wicked and unrighteous. If she is to fall in battle, none should mourn as she is Celestine, the Living Saint, and death is her duty.

Story
Sister Adamanthea is a Repentia redeemed, restored to her beloved Sororitas and hailed as a ‘living miracle’. But behind closed doors she is haunted by a sin she believes can never be forgiven. Paraded in front of the countless pilgrims of the garden-temple of Concordia, how can she speak of faith when her own is so uncertain? When an aeons-old conspiracy finally triggers, Adamanthea must prove herself the legend she is claimed to be, or risk the forces of Chaos pulling back the shroud of lies and shattering the faith of an entire world.

Listen to it because
Two of the biggest heroes of the Dark Imperium - Saint Celestine and Inquisitor Greyfax - join forces to stop one of the most important Imperial organisations from falling into civil war in an epic four-part audio saga starring none other than Catherine Tate!
The story
During the turbulent Reign of Blood, a great schism in the Imperial Ecclesiarchy threatened all of Terra and promised a darkness to rival the terrors of Old Night. Only she can reunite the warring factions of the Ecclesiarchy and prevent a second Reign of Blood. Together with the Inquisitor Greyfax, Celestine and her allies must hunt across the shrineworlds of the Imperium and beyond to root out the evil behind the schism and burn it out with righteous, cleansing flame.

Imagine a hormonal teenager as an Inquisitor
This is the worst 40k book I have ever read or listened to that had more potential than just Space Marines shooting and eviscerating things. I don't understand what happened, The Inquisition and Saint Celestine are some of the coolest things in the entire 40k universe. I liked Lorgar, so it can't be that Gav Thorpe, the author is to blame. The production is awful. It is not a book on tape, but more like an audio drama. The transitions are bad from scene to scene, as the background sounds distract more than augment. When Space Marines sound stiff and dumb I can tolerate it. Maybe the author is bad, maybe the progenoid glands in the Space Marine make them say inane corny things. Who knows? But this.... These are humans. Apparently, someone at BL thought, "Let's get a hyper critical, super demanding "City Girl" and make her an Inquisitor." "Amazingly someone actually agreed, "Yeah, Sex and the City in space, it's perfect." When the stupidly obvious is not being crammed down your throat, you are subjected to an Inquisitor who constantly seems to be annoyed by her own retinue and always tells them to do whatever it is they are doing, but faster. As if that were not bad enough, she even criticized the Lord she reports to for not, and I can't make this up, allowing a council member to vote on whether or not they should be assassinated. At that point, I called this one quits. There are great, believable female characters all over 40k. Ilya from White Scars and every single female in the entire 492 Horus Heresy novels comes to mind. There are a ton of great audiobooks for 40k on here, and they are a bargain over buying from the BL directly. The Lords of Silence and Dante are awesome. As are a bunch of others. Try all of them before you get this. Really bummed out that this fascinating subject was apparently written for a Seventeen magazine expose on women in space,

A dive into the faith of the Imperium.
Religious fervor has always been a key element in 40k lore concerning the Imperium, and in this audio drama we get exactly what we expected from a story concerning a saint of the Imperium.
Full of intrigue, politics, and the typical: "drive me closer I want to hit them with my sword!" bluster that we have come to associate with Warhammer 40,000 this audio drama will not disappoint.
Outstanding cast; both veteran and new voices make their mark on the 40k universe and it shows - the work they put in is from enthusiasm and passion.
Let your faith in the Emperor be rewarded: let his light shine into your soul! Get this drama today!

Worth the credit?
I was a little reluctant to spend a credit on 6 hours of audio but this production was so excellent, the story so gripping & the consequences for the Imperium so grave I have zero regrets. Not bolter porn if that's your thing, but full of action, mystery, & political intrigue.
Highly recommended.

Full of infallible women evil weak men,and cringe worthy court intrigue. It could be worse at least GW had the good sense to remove him from the Codex team. I think I'll stick with the books from Dan Abnett and Guy Smiley going forward.

This book is something else.
So, now ive been listening to warhammer 40k books for quite some time. I heard some amazing titles like "The infinite and the divine" and "Soulhunter" for example. They are great books and i think everyone should read/listen to them. But this one with all the aditional sounds in the backround, the static in the vox, sounds of battle not to mention the amazing voice acting. This book is a absolute must for every warhammer 40k fan out there.

Really wish there were more of these audio dramas
I simply just enjoyed listening to this amazing story. Greyfax and Celestine have such an amazing dynamic that is just pure joy to see (loved the voice acting for them as well). Sound effects were great.
I love Longinus and how he is a voice of reason while at the same time will not hesitate to something harsh (the scene where he threatens to cut off Greyfaxs hand is such an awesome moment).

Noise, dull noise
Black LIbrary have assembled a decent cast for this audio-drama, including Catherine Tate in the lead role. So I was reasonably optimistic when I downloaded this. Unfortunately, that feeling lasted about 5 minutes into the story.
What's the problem? Well several actually. FIrstly: soundtrack. There is awful, cheap-sounding keyboard music sounding almost constantly throughout this. Characters also frequently speak at once, when they are not yelling above explosions - all of which makes it pretty hard to make out the dialogue.
Secondly: Lead character, Inquisitor Greyfax is utterly, excrutiatingly dull. A zealot with an unshakeable belief in her own righteousness, she lacks any of the depth or personality which make Dan Abnett's inquisitors, Gregor Eisenhorn or Gideon Ravenor such compelling protagonists. Instead Catherine Tate has little to do except bellow at pretty much everyone.
Thirdly plot. There really isn't one, it's just cheesy keyboards, explosions and Tate yelling. I've stuck out every audio book I've ever paid for, but I simply lost the will to live halfway through this.

Great for 40k Fans
Great quality audio drama!
Dont recommend if you aren't familiar with 40k or the Lore as a lot of jargon is unexplained.

Loved it - brings together many 40K threads
A great story, great performances, thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.
I wasn’t too sure about Catherine Tate being a lead character, but actually pretty good as Inquisitor Greyfax.
More 40K audio dramas please - take my money :-)
