Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

Publisher's Summary
Conspiracies. Corruption. Serial killers.
You name it - I'm fascinated by it. My mom always blamed my overly curious and highly suspicious mind on my dad.
My incredibly overbearing dad.
Mr. No One Is Good Enough For My Daughter has been terrifying my dates since I turned 15.
College is my chance to be free from his control and date any guy I want.
I'm absolutely certain he would hate Slade Wylder - almost as certain as I am that I do too.
Since when have I shied away from trouble?
Slade fascinates me. He lives in a house I'm certain is haunted. His dog is trained as well as any guard I've ever seen. Rumor on campus is that he deals drugs. It would explain a lot.
But it doesn't explain why he saves me from my darkest moment.
It doesn't explain why I can't stop thinking about him.
And the explanation I finally discover is far more dangerous than any rumor.
Out of Love is a stand-alone novel in the highly-acclaimed Jack & Jill Series.

This book is AMAZING! Do not miss this one!
I don't even know where to begin. Oh. My. Gosh. EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!!!😍 I wanted to slow down to savor this book, but I physically couldn't! Livy is a smart, loving, curious girl who loves to surf. She has an over protective father, who cracks me up! My husband would so be him! She finally escapes his protective nature when she goes off to college. It's her senior year and she knows exactly what she wants in life. Meet my FOREVER book boyfriend Wylder. He is a quiet, loner who only has his dog Jericho, that he takes with him everywhere. This is all Wylder has ever known and sees nothing wrong with it. He lives in the "firehouse" on her street that is rumored to be haunted. Jericho is the most amazing dog. I've never been a dog person, but now I want a German Shepherd! Jericho has my heart! Livy first meets Wylder in class when she is late and he scowled at her. She is curious why he has his dog with him in class. There are so many rumors flying about him. Where he's been the last few years, his job and why he has a dog with him. Curiosity can't keep Livy away. She keeps poking the bear...will he snap or will they become friends. This book is absolutely AMAZING! I think my favorite book EVER! And that's out of 50 that I have read this year! It has everything! I am trying so hard not to spoil anything because the journey is truly spectacular! Hilarious dialog and banter, super emotional, swoon worthy, heart stopping and epic love story! What would you do for Love? I started it and couldn't stop! I read all day neglecting my responsibilities (kind of...I fed my kids, that's enough) and was up till 2am finishing it and I didn't want it to end! I listened to the audiobook by Stefanie Kay and she was PERFECT! I was worried reading a book with dual POV and only one narrator, but she did such a fantastic job! Her delivery and change in her voice was just right. I will definitely look for more books narrated by her. I can't wait to listen to it again! Don't miss this one!!!

Every Jewel book is a five star read.
I whole heartedly believe that every book Jewel E Ann writes is perfection. This woman knows how to write relationships of every kind. Some take you out of your comfort zone. Some you may find are so out of your wheelhouse that it’s difficult to commiserate with what a character may say, do, or act. Some are like reading about yourself on the page. Regardless (or maybe because ) of that, every book will hit you right in the feels while simultaneously giving you some laughs. Every character is flawlessly developed, and while it may at first seem as if a trope is a familiar one, she takes it to a place others authors don’t often do. Every one of her books has me thinking about it long after, and I have read them all numerous times. She is hands down my favorite author and I can say with complete honesty she is the only author that I have given 5 stars to every book she’s written, even her earliest works when most authors are honing their skills. Please note, I do not personally know Jewel, will probably never ever meet her, and I realize may seem like an obsessed weirdo, but for real, something about her writing makes me ignore all responsibilities and just read, read, read until unfortunately the book ends. I’m in awe of her brain and so appreciate that she decided to share it with all of us. Do I like some narrators of her books more than others? Sure, but even my least favorite one can’t hide how great the stories are. Waiting for the next release is the hardest part, but it’s always worth it.

Mind Freaking Blown!!
Holy WOW. I’m just honestly at a loss for words to explain the insanity of what just took place in Out of Love. I didn’t know what to expect when I read this book. I just knew I had to because I absolutely loved the Jack and Jill series. Fan of the series like myself, get ready to have your mind blown tf away! Readers new to this world, prepare for your next binge because you will want to go back to luxuriate in the experience that is the Jack and Jill series. While I did guess one of the twists, never did I see the biggest one that hit me. I was completely blindsided. My jaw is still on the floor. This was the type of book where I started off listening but had the ebook at the ready because it was impossible to walk away, if I wasn’t listening, I needed to be reading it. Livy and Slade’s story wholly consumed me. I couldn’t think about anything else until I knew how it would all end and the ending I got was nothing like I could’ve imagined!

Story OK, didn't care for narration.
3.5 stars - I received this audiobook from Valentine PR in exchange for my honest review. This was my first Jewel E. Ann book, and though it is a standalone - I heard it's a spin-off. I may have enjoyed this more if I'd read the other books. Also an important note, I feel the narration was left wanting and therefore affected my enjoyment of the book. When a female reads the whole book, yet there are chapters from a male's POV, I sometimes miss it, and later realize..."Wait, this is a male talking??" It was confusing at times, and hard to follow. I love audiobooks cuz I can multi-task while listening, but if I miss the first 2 seconds of a new chapter, I miss who is talking. The female narrator didn't have a distictive male voice, so it was hard to differentiate.
Now onto the story. I know most romance readers love a bad boy mysterious hero, but I was quite annoyed at all the mystery around Slade and his dog (why did all the professors just let him bring his dog to class, no questions asked??) I wasn't invested in the characters, and found Livy unlikable, a bit annoying, and even needy at times. As the story developed I found myself uninterested and "waiting for the good parts." Again, this could have very well been mostly due to the narration. It may have just been the rude broody alpha that didn't do it for me, but I wasn't feeling it. I enjoy a grumpy man-bread, and you all know I love a cinnamon roll hero but this story is not that...
I will definitely try another Jewel E. Ann book, as she is so highly recommended by my romance reader friends. I enjoyed her descriptive and immersive storytelling and the depth of characters. The ending was perfect, that's the part of loved the most. As one who usually enjoys angst, the angst and mystery in this one just didn't do it for me.

Jewel E. Ann crushes it!!
Livy Knight is every bad boy’s dream… she’s been sheltered but she’s driven and smart. Slade Wylder is exactly what Livy’s dad warned her all her life about. He’s dark and mysterious and oozes sex appeal. Getting them together tore my heart out with high tension and so much chemistry. Wow, Jewel E. Ann crushed my heart with Livy and Wylder’s story. It’s been a while since an audiobook hit me in the heart like Out of Love did. Wylder though, he breaks your heart to pieces. Then there’s the heat level… it was scorching hot.
The narrator was Stefanie Kay. I liked her narration but I would have preferred a male narrator as well. Out of Love was a dual POV book so I prefer my narration to fit that. I missed the male voices and really wished for them. I can say that Kay did a great job with what she had to work with. She was able to add emotions and heart into a book that had a lot of emotion, a lot of heart. I was pleased with her narration, don’t get me wrong on that at all. I just missed the male voice.

I think Jewel E Ann just became my new addiction!
Out of Love is a spin of to another of her series. One that I'll read ASAP, because yeah... I've listened to this book without reading Jack and Jill first... I didn't knew it was related to other series, until I was really interested in Livy's Dad (Jackson Knight) own story!
But back to this book and Livy and Wylder's story... I just love it!
It's a classical case of sunshine girl and grumpy guy, but at the same time, it's full of mystery, emotions, assassins, twists and turns.
She was intrigued by him and his German Shepard, that accompanied him even during their college classes, so as a curious sunshine, she tried to make a friend out of him... Well... That didn't go too well for her... At least not at first (or second).
Until something bad happens, and the one that didn't even spares her a glance before, was the one to save her from an attack.
Their relationship evolved from annoying neighbors, to some kind of mutual love for his dog, to an undeniable attraction, that they couldn't stop feeling.
Slade Wylder was hot, mysterious, quiet, grumpy and he practically didn't say nothing to Livy other than bark a few threats, but I could understand her drawn to him as a moth to a flame!
What can I say? I'm a lost cause when it comes to the broken silence and mysterious bad boy.
But he held many secrets... As much as her dad, and those secrets probably weren't a secret to those who read Jack and Jill series, but to me? Holy cow! Her dad did really a bunch of questionable things at the end, and took protectives to a whole new level!
Jericho (the dog) is almost like another main character, and I loved all the scenes that he was in it!
It was a great story and I couldn't put it down! I still have a couple of questions aftee that end... But I guess that those questions where purposely left unanswered...
About the audiobook...
The narration was by a single woman, and again, I did prefer when I have male narrator for the Male POV chapters, so she did a great job bringing in the emotions and the right tones into the story, but her male voice isn't of an alpha male like Wylder or Jackson, so I missed their voices.

Conflicted
3.5 stars
There were so many things to like about this book. The flawless writing. The mystery and intrigue. The incredible dynamics between Livy Knight and Slade Wylder. It was all so good!! And these characters, l could not get enough of them - Livy especially. Loved her! If I were to rate this book on the first three-quarters, it would have been a sure 5 star read.
But that ending.. I really really did not like that ending. Such a let down. Let's forget the fact that it broke my heart. Gah! All the pain. My main issue and I know this is a personal preference but I haaaaate long separations. My ratings will go down every time I come across one. In Out of Love's case, I get why the author felt like there needed to be a five year gap in order to advance the story. However, the introduction of another woman and a marriage, nope, I can't get onboard with that. It left such a bad taste in my mouth. I was ready to be done with this story.
As for the narration, Stefanie Kay did a great job bringing these characters to life. I loved her performance of Livy. Of course, I wish we had a male narrator for the Wylder and Jackson pov chapters but really it wasn't a big deal. I still liked it.
Overall, conflicted. That's the best way to describe myself after reading Out of Love by Jewel E Ann. I really wanted to like this book. And for the most part I did. There were just some factors that left me disappointed.

Out of Love is an amazingly compelling story of tremendous love.
As a new to me author, Jewel E. Ann has blown me away and there is absolutely no doubt that I'll read more from this author.
Stefanie Kay brought the words penned by this author to full technicolour life which just made listening to this all the more amazing.
I loved every single second and can't wait to explore other works by both this author and narrator!

Gripped from front to back
4.5 Stars I thought this book was going one way and then SWERVE. I don't want to say much plot wise because most of the things that sucked me in and kept me hooked would spoil the book, but needless to say the back half of this book was GO GO GO and I could not believe how it shook out.

Love this book!
Jewel E Ann. That is all I have to see and I know I am in for a treat! This is one heck of a book! Livy is finally out of the clutches of her overprotective father. College is destined to be the place of freedom and of course, she is attracted the campus bad boy. Slade Wylder is quiet, and as a result, there are all kinds of rumors about him. Hearing he is a drug dealer and lives in a haunted house, does not deter the interested Livy, especially after her night time incident. And our love story begins. Ann takes us into a turn of events that is so twisted and crazy, I didn't see it coming! From taking care of Jerry the dog to making oatmeal cookies, things seem normal. Until it all starts to unravel. Truths and secrets revealed, the story really heats up and there was a period I was unsure if I wanted to even know how it was going to end. The worst was coming. Ann had me on the edge, stole my heart and invested my love into this couple. I truly fell for the couple, enjoyed Aunt Jessica but Jericho the dog was the real star for me. He would do anything to protect Livy. The perfect pup! This is an amazing listen and you do not want to miss it.
Stefanie Kay narrates this story and it's my first time listening to her. She is amazing!!! I love her voices. She easily can do both male and female voices and brings in all the emotions, sarcasm and love with her performance. I thought her interpretation of the characters was spot on and she created their world perfectly. I will definitely be watching for more by her.
