Every parent should read this!!
I loved this book. She talks you through so many things that come up even just this year with parenting teens now. I love how being loving and kind and present are just some of the easy things that make your kids know you’re there for them.
Her trick on test anxiety worked on my daughter last week and I feel like this is just the beginning of helping my kids with any anxieties that may come there way.
You have no idea how hard it is being a teen these days and it starts earlier than you would ever think. Read this book even if your kids are too young to use it on them. I’m sure it will save you so much heartache

Excellent
Wonderful insight into today’s teens. I was able to apply many parts to my own life with 2 teenage boys. A must listen! I wish I had heard about this book years ago and put into practice a lot of the suggestions early on.
If you have children 9-12, get a jump on those teenage years NOW! I thought I knew, I thought I was able to relate... I’m not that old myself, however, boy have things changed!
It’s a different world out there. Be prepared.

Insightful and practical.
Simple yet hard questions and advice to improve our parenting and our connection with our children. Well written and entertaining, but the constant use of the female pronoun was very distracting to me; almost unnerving.
Thee narrator read it too slowly, so I had to increase the reproduction speed.

Very relevant for today!
I have 3 teens, all in high school last year, so 1 just started college, so Im living the nightmare as I type this!! So a lot of this book rings clear as a bell. I knew that teens change, but this book helped me get into thier head in a good way.
BUT, I have never heard a book read by a robot before!!! Im not normally overly critical, but it was just read with such an awkward tempo, in such a way that it became quite irritating after a while. in addition, I started to notice that when talking about "your child" it was ALWAYS "help HER become the best SHE can be" and "tell HER that you are there for HER". After the first 2 chapters I noticed that the author did not alternate pronouns, they were exclusively female. all the time! unless it was talking about a particular male patient or a problem unique to boys.
if you have a problem daughter, this book was written for you!

Highly recommended for parents of teens
I am a Baby Boomer parent of 3 older teens/young adults. The information I heard was incredibly useful. I wish that I had heard of it years ago. Today's youth have so many things to deal with that I never had. I try to keep up but it's hard to parent the way you were parented. It just doesn't work that way. Please read this book.

Incredible. Just incredible.
As a parent of teens and younger children I have to say I feel hugely enlightened and I only wish I had found this book long, long ago. Please, if you have a teenager or even young children, please download this book. Within just a few minutes I can guarantee you will be sat there with your mouth open, wide eyed, planning how you are going support your child through the difficult time they are living in. Our children are growing up in a much different world to the one we grew up in and we must be prepared as parents...

useful but irritating
This book has some good and some bad points, I tried to return it but audible would not allow it, but actually I have found it useful after persevering with the annoying parts. The book constantly refers to American society, which seems a bit narrow minded and also voice sounded whingy and whiney it did however give some really useful tips on communication so overall was glad I listened and think it will be a helpful book

Good book if it is your first one on teenagers
The book concentrates more on giving context and building understanding of issues than on practical ways of dealing with things. Good if you need that sort of context, if you reed this when your child is a pre teen and this is the first book you grab in preparation for the teenage years.

Great content, let down by poor narration
I have listened to around 2 hours if this book and the content is great.
Unfortunately the narration lets it down to the point I have had to stop listening. The book is narrated as though the intended listeners are small children. With a very slow and robotic type voice akin to that of a sat nav.
The only other observation is the repeated reference to teenagers as she.
I will now have to buy the book, as what I have heard so far is well worth reading.
