Publisher's Summary

For most couples, a quiet dinner for two at Auberge de la Reine Blanche on the Ile Saint Louis would be just the thing to smooth out the complications in a romance. But for gorgeous Mossad operative Delilah and trying-to-retire contract killer John Rain, nothing is ever easy, and when Rain sees a crew of hard-looking men setting up outside the restaurant, he realizes someone has been bringing her work home with her. Is it a hit - or something even worse? When it comes to killing, business and pleasure are the most dangerous mix of all.

Should have been a free download

It wasn’t like this book needed to be in there. I doubt anyone that hasn’t bought a few books before, would buy this on its own. So why not give it to those that have paid for some before?

I guess but it if you’re bored

Excellent Rain Bridge Story

Where does Paris Is a Bitch rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a short story, so it doesn't rank with the other books on Audible. However, I will tell you I liked the fact that Eisler provided a background/bridge story on the Rain-Delilah story line. It is an excellent short story for those of us that are Rain fans. The setup and the action are outstanding.

What did you like best about this story?

The way that the characters turned their personal issues into problems for predators waiting for them.

Which scene was your favorite?

Of course when Rain and Delilah turn the tables on the attackers. I love when predators run into bigger predators through their folly.

If you could rename Paris Is a Bitch, what would you call it?

I wouldn't.

A really short story

This story is about the final breakup of John Rain and Israeli spy Delilah in Paris. The story is nothing special, the the narration of author Barry Eisler is.

Fish or cut bait

Killers named John seemed to have a tougher time getting out of the life. Good thing, or we wouldn’t have John Wick and John Rain to entertain us. This little nugget explains the violence-prompted relationship hiccup that led to Delilah’s absence from some of the full length, John Rain series books. I’m not sure this will mean much unless you’ve read the prior books in the series. But, if you’re going to start with this morsel, consider also getting the novella London Twist, which was an excellent deeper dive into Delilah’s special set of killer skills, and which picks up right after this novella.

Really?

I honestly can't bring myself to pay for this 60 minute interlude. I I enjoy the series and would definitely like to listen to this additional short story but I can't imagine using a credit for something that should honestly be a gift to the listeners that have purchased the other books in the series.
Take a pointer from the Orphan X series and encourage your fans to stay invested in the story.

great short story

I normally dont listen to short stories but this one was an answer to why John and Delilah broke up. For fans of both of these characters, its a little more insight into their personalities.

Story - OK. Narration - great.

As usual Barry Eisler's narration is spectacularly good.
Not much room to build a story in under an hour. Still - a well crafted short story with an, ahem... satisfying amount of violence.

very short but very good

More of a single scene thing rather than a novella but Barry reads a great story, very well.
