Publisher's Summary

The New York Times best-selling author of Life's Too Short delivers a refreshingly modern fairy tale perfect for fans of Casey McQuiston and Emily Henry.

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s 10 years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

Loved Him!

I still can’t decide if it’s the writing, or the narration, or both but I seem to always fall in love with this author’s male lead characters and this might be my favorite one yet. Great read - highly recommend and look forward to rereading in a few months. @Mrs. Jimenez, if you’re reading this… I’d love a book from you with a person of color in the lead role.

Wore thin

At first it seemed like a fun read. Then it became too cute for words. By the end I felt like I'd lost brain cells.

Hilarious and sweet!!

One again Abby Jimenez does not disappoint. I was having a very hard week and really needed something fun and feel good. I have read her other books and they have always made me LOL. So I purposely searched her and found this little gem. Wow! It was so good. I love the characters and the backdrops. The storyline was sooooo good.
I found myself listening while doing yard work and started laughing so hard my hubby thought someone came over and was with me in the backyard. I also love Zach Webber narrating this story. He is wonderful. He bring both characters alive.
I cannot wait for Abby’s next book.
This is just what I needed to help with my funk. 😉

“Grace…. Really Does Cost You Nothing.

In every Hallmark movie there is a big city girl that finds what she is looking for in a small town with a gracious and loving guy. This book is no exception and is on the next level. I’ve been reading a lot of mysteries and serious books lately and a I need this brain candy. It has all the beautiful quirkiness without being super artificial or cheesy. Both Alexis and Daniel are extremely endearing and heartbreaking to read. You want so badly for them to work even when the odds are stacked so highly against them. This is the type of book I think a lot of women should read in this new era of “women’s movement” because it shows such empowering strength in both situations of domestic abuse. Neil is so frustrating and so well written as the “new kind of villain” his complexity is very easy to read and look out for in the world. The thing I love about this particular author and her books; especially the more recent ones is that there is always an internal lesson deep within the story. “Grace costs you nothing.” Is such a simple concept that I really think should resonate with more people in these current times of pandemic. I was very happy reading this. Very good. It is my second favorite novel from this author.

Warning…you might get yanked out.

Great story! Loved the way there were multiple side plots to the main plot. Took foresight, and not a typical fluffy story. I loved that the author addressed real issues like domestic abuse and how it isn’t always physical. Counseling does make people better human beings when they WANT to change.

However, I read stories to get away from the political atmosphere…but be prepared to have it sprinkled on this beautiful cupcake like paper confetti mixed in with the edible sort. You don’t realize it until it’s in your mouth and you don’t want to spit out the cupcake just because of a little chewy paper. So you swallow.

Be aware, a critical moment when our heroine makes a great decision and uses her knowledge in a life saving way got really confusing really fast because it was a lesbian couple having a baby. I got so lost because I couldn’t figure out which dude in the room was the dad, and then one lady raised her hand and said “I’m her wife”. I felt yanked out of the story…was this critical moment about our heroine or about the morality of lgbtq+? Sigh…could I read just one book that doesn’t use the words “marginalized groups” more than 10 times?

Overall a good book, but I won’t buy from this author again …don’t like feeling like a fool for not automatically assuming one of the ladies in the room is the “father”. No one likes being yanked out of a story like that

I laughed out loud a few times.
What I liked most is the realizations that some people never figure out.
