Falling stars are supposed to be a lucky sign, but not for Austen. Her new job as a secretary in an international games company isn't off to a good start. Her first assignment - decorating the Christmas tree in the lobby - results in a trip to the ER after Dee, the company's second-in-command, gets hit by the star-shaped tree topper. Dee blames her instant attraction to Austen on her head wound, not the magic of the falling star. She's determined not to act on it, especially since Austen has no idea that Dee is practically her boss.

Publisher's Summary
Caitlyn Lloyd has the world at her feet. Or more accurately - under her horse’s hooves. With the 2016 Rio Olympics just around the corner, nothing is going to derail her long-held dream of winning a medal or two in Olympic dressage. Not even the reappearance of a childhood so-not-a-friend throwing her perfectly balanced life into disarray.
Addie Gardner’s career is at its peak, and accepting a last-minute fill-in position as the veterinarian for the US Olympic Dressage Team was a no-brainer. The fact that her old crush from Pony Club is on the team is just a bonus. Not a distraction at all. And it might just offer the chance to be friends with the girl who wouldn’t even give her the time of day 20 years ago.
But Caitlyn and Addie have very different memories of their time together at Pony Club, and their first meeting as adults is less like a reconnection and more like a butting of heads. With the Olympics looming, they’ll need to set aside their history and learn to work together. And maybe Caitlyn and Addie will realize childhood memories aren’t always accurate, and that they have more in common than they would ever have thought. Maybe. Just maybe.

Emotional but enjoyable romance
After reading the ebook I could not resist listening to Abby Craden narrating this story. Noyes’s obvious knowledge and love of horses runs through this book like a roaring river. Dewey is the third main character and is the most endearing animal character I have ever come across. His intelligence and curiosity of things all human and animal are so well written. If you are an animal lover but not so sure about the working of dressage do not worry. Noyes explains it all in the book and also the additional glossary. Do yourself a favour and buy this book in what ever form you enjoy.

Gets better after first chapter or so
Okay even though I couldn’t care less about any competitive sport, I did love hearing about horse antics and horse and human bonding and also the romance. Too much Angst and yes no maybe and too much of the soft porn ‘erotica’ for my taste, but I guess that sort of vicarious sex sells. Still a well written story.

This is an excellent read, terrific characters great flow and pacing. So often with sports being a main part of the story they can feel like a manual on the sport. Ej did a great job getting the info on what the sport was into the story without it feeling like a lecture. AC great as always. Spend the credit you won’t be disappointed

Another hit by Noyes...
No one will be surprised to hear that Abby Craden narrated this book brilliantly. There will also be no surprise when I write E.J. Noyes has written another fantastic sapphic romance. This time, we get the added bonus of a horse as a supporting character. Caitlyn is fighting for her place on the Olympic Team competing in dressage while also fighting her feelings for Addie, the team’s veterinarian who she hasn’t seen since pony club. Great chemistry all around. Two thumbs up here.

About horses? I know nothing!
First, I know nothing about horses or the type of performance that's the setting for this book. A little or a lot more information would have made this book much more interesting.
Secondly, the women who were discordant as kids becoming friends and lovers as adults was kind of nice.
Thirdly, the sex scenes were great and nice to have described in detail, with accuracy.
And lastly it seemed that it (almost) coined the stereotype of lesbians that brought the moving van to the 2nd date. LOL
Now all that said, I enjoyed the book for the most part, it was an enjoyable listen. Abby Craden was fantastic as usual. Her "Southern" accent sounded very natural and cute.

A perfect combination...
EJ Noyes is my favourite writer and Abby Craden well... what a voice.
I wasn't compelled by the subject of horses, given I try to avoid riding anything that has bigger teeth than me BUT I loved this.
It was undoubtedly far more comfortable and kinder on my inner thighs than 9 hours of horse riding would have been but I really felt like I was there with them immersed in that world.
I also feel empowered and knowledgeable enough to start foaling...
I don't really. I'm teasing. But if you happen to be anything like Addie and you turned up at my door with a pregnant mare? Just know I wouldn't turn you away!

Another great lesbian romance from E. J. Noyes
This is a love story focused around horses, which made it above average for me. However, there's a lot more to this story than that fact alone; it is not a boring, airhead romance but has a depth of plot and characterisation that has a lot to recommend it.
Abby Craden's narration seemed less irritating than her usual efforts. She mostly dropped the cliche, generic American accent, with its over exaggeratedly rolled 'r's that she usually uses to read audiobooks. However, this improvement might be down to the fact that I set the narration speed faster than 100%. She narrates a large part of this audiobook with either a Texas or a Southern drawl but as a Brit I was unsure which, nevertheless it sounded okay to me and clearly distinguished between the main characters. Although, I hope I am not misleading because I can categorically say her British accent is terrible.

Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommended
A great idea for a romance to be set in the world of top level equestrian competition and veterinary practice. I always like enemies to lovers stories and this was so well written I could of been there myself.
E J Noyes really captured the atmosphere, nerves anxiety and mixed emotions that go with the high stakes and a new relationship blossoming
As ever Abby Craden does a wonderful job in narration, her smooth voice is so well suited.

E J Noyes and Abby Craden a winning combination yet again. I ride horses and felt like I was in the story. Expertly crafted this story is about love, commitment, sacrifice and the equestrian sport of dressage. Beautifully written I have listened to this twice and love the story. Just the right amount of angst and realism when it comes to the sport of dressage and love. Thank you again EJ 10 out of 10 again.
