Publisher's Summary

Anastasia Villiers has hit rock bottom. And that rock is named Espoir Island.

Abandoned by her disgraced investment banker husband who liquidated all of their assets and fled the country, Anastasia is left with nothing - except for Fishscale House, a broken-down Queen Anne in the Michigan hometown she swore she’d left for good.

If Ana quickly renovates and flips the dilapidated building, she can get back to Manhattan and salvage her life. The problem? The only person on the island with historical renovation cred is Ned Fitzroy - Ana’s first love - who insists she help him with the labor herself. As Ana gets reacquainted with Ned, and her hometown, she realizes home may be just what she’s always wanted.

Felt like I had already listened

I love Molly Harper, but I really wish Audible would have marketed this audiobook differently. It's a nice story. Actually really liked it, but I already bought it as a collection of stories called "I loved you First." Nowhere in the description did it say that this story was already published in this collection, so now I have it twice.

Molly Harper strikes again

Pasties and Poor Decisions is another cute stand alone novella by the ever delightful Molly Harper. The one-two combo of Harper and Amanda Ronconi as narrator is inextricably connected in my brain so I was delighted to find this little treat in my list of suggestions because I thought I’d listened yo everything she’d written already. My only complaint - too short! I could have handled another 3 hrs of Anna’s personal journey.

Sweet Novella

Of course I would have preferred a 10 hour story with all the details, but this was a nice novella. I would love to see it become a series.

good story

Another great story by Molly Harper. I love how Amanda Ronconi bring such life to the characters. This may be a short story, but I loved it. I hope there will be more to come.

Such A Delightful Short Listen

I LOVED this new book from Molly Harper. I'm hoping she turns it into a new series.

A delightful listen

The plot is a little predictable but the setting and details were fun and unique. Molly Harper captures yooper charm and hospitality. Amanda Ronconi is a wonderful narrator. Her tone works well with Harper’s wit. And she does justice to the yooper accent.

MEH

I LOVE MOLLY HARPER!! Just wanted to put that out there. I thought this story sounded interesting but it all felt very rushed and convenient. Anna isn't all that likeable. She could have been if it didn't fee like a light switched and all of a sudden all her character flaws disappeared. I would have liked more development in the story and the other characters. Given the worlds the author has built in Kentucky and Alaska and Georgia, I thought this was flat and under-developed.

Good but feels like a draft

I love Molly and her writing and this is a charming little novella, but it feels rushed and incomplete. It feels more of a draft to a full length novel that she turned in to a novella and it suffers because of it.

Everything feels rushed, the relationships don't develop, they kind of just magically are repaired. The MC:s character arc is just that she decides to not be what she has been for 20 years and automatically becomes someone new. It feels unearned. Too much happens off page.

If one can handle these aspects of the story, it's an easy to listen to and charming little story and Andrea elevates it a lot with her performance.

Too Short

This was a cute little light romance, but it was way too short. Everything happened too quickly and smoothly to be believed. The title was mispronounced, which can be misleading about the content and tone of the story.

I don't know where I thought this book was going

I don't know where I thought this book was going with the title. 😂

Rich wife's husband takes off with yoga instructor and all their money after the Feds come after him. This is a coming home and second chance romance. Super quick and super cute with a HEA. One midly spicy scene at the end.
