Publisher's Summary
Truly epic urban fantasy
All three books in the critically acclaimed, award winning series, The Paternus Trilogy, together in one digital box set.
Described as American Gods meets The Avengers, Paternus combines myths from around the world in a modern story of action and intrigue that is “urban fantasy on the surface, but so much more at its core!”
“Fantastically fun and enormously epic. The Paternus Trilogy is a powerhouse urban fantasy that explores the very edge of possibility of what this subgenre can offer, and it is glorious. Highly, highly recommended.” (Novel Notions)
Even myths have legends. And not all legends are myth.
Book 1: Paternus: Rise of Gods
When a local hospital is attacked by strange and frightening men, Fiona Patterson and Zeke Prisco save a catatonic old man named Peter - and find themselves running for their lives with creatures out of myth and legend hounding their every step.
In order to survive, they must join up with powerful allies against an ancient evil that’s been known by many names and feared by all. The final battle of the world’s oldest war has begun.
Book 2: Paternus: Wrath of Gods
Fi and Zeke aid Peter in his globe-trotting quest to seek out the remaining Firstborn, uncover the enemy’s plans, and gather the warriors of old. Along the way, Fi and Zeke discover they, too, have strengths of their own - though they come at a cost neither may wish to bear.
Book 3: Paternus: War of Gods
From Africa to Asgard, to an invisible island in the Pacific and the Bone Road of a forgotten realm, Fi and Zeke must come to grips with who and what they are - and accept what they are becoming: wielders of ancient and dangerous powers, warriors, and maybe even heroes.
Cry havoc, and let slip the gods of war.

Wow!!!
This Trilogy is hands down the best Trilogy I have read. The Myths and Legends pop out of every corner and I was at the edge of my seat listening to all the battles happening. There were moments i laughed and moments I had to will myself not to cry because I would feel like a fool crying on a job site because of a book. Even then, tears escaped me. The voice was awesome, the performance was amazing, and this book was something I didn't expect to effect me the way it did. If there is one thing I would say needs improvement, it would be the quality of the recording. There were moments, very few, that became muffled and some what static. I didn't mind it but it was there. Aside from that, it was all amazing.

The entire trilogy is a revelation
I've been a fan of Dyrk Ashton's since I first got my hands on the first Paternus book. The trilogy was completed last year and all three titles were expertly narrated by Nik Magill. This trilogy is as unique as they come as Dyrk Ashton as breaks all genre rules and yet makes this story work.
Let's start out with what's unique about this story:
- The author expertly and uniquely amalgamates all the world mythologies in to a syncretic & authentic mix. This is done on such an expert level as he's able to tie in different mythological entities as different avatars of the same immortal. Plus it all makes sense and then some
- The cast is a big one but it's expertly handled. There's a mix of immortal and mortal personae such as an Indian god, a Judeo-Christian devil, African mythological creatures, etc. All of them have their own personalities and they are in line with what we know of their histological/mythological stories.
- The action and plot twists in this trilogy take incremental jumps as the books progress while never overwhelming the story.
There's a grand plan at work which might not be apparent but know that it will be clear in the third book. I must also point Nik Magill's excellent narration as he masterfully handled various characters of both genders with different accents as vocabulary styles. I especially loved his Baphomet, Mrs. Mirskaya, & Pratha as he handled their mannerisms, voices and characters traits so superbly.
Overall this complete trilogy is over 61 hours long and one that will take you a while to get through. However be assured that it's an absolutely stunning audio experience courtesy of a narrator who knows his strengths and uses them superbly.
This is an absolute steal at the cost of just 1 credit. Do yourself a favour and buy this set pronto. You will get an experience like no other and will understand why I consider Dyrk Ashton to be the new Tolkien of the twenty-first century.

Wow this guy has an Irish fetish or something(RANT
I was hooked with the first chapters it was steering into something new and different! Most reviews are 4 stars and up and there isn't any real criticism on the books. Feels like a Hollywood glow up a scheme if you ask me. And then it went downhill as soon as a new character entered. It's like a power fantasy DND fanfiction, for as imaginative as everyone says this is it all boils down to all the mythical fantastic creatures being made by some Irish looking dude. Seriously?
(There is also some stuff about the "god of all things" but not really the god of all things I'd like to chime in on but I need to get further into the story. )
"So many different myths in this book. All of the gods-" Are there REALLY? Most of it was focused on Europe with splashes of other myths that are older. And if they are other ethnic myths they are either, over-sexualized, creatures, ugly monsters, villains, or horrid caricatures of real ethnic persons. Sheesh, my dude. Let's not forget the flat conventionally attractive main characters with plain cereal personalities.
I'm going to finish this to see if my opinion can change but if this is the best of a mythos mixing pot fiction I'm dreading to find the worst of it.
P.S - The best character was the Dog.

Narrator choice is important.
The story is hard to really get into, due to poor narrator choice. This guy isn't the worst I've ever heard, but he's in the top three. Flat is the best way to describe him. No variety in voice or tone. Worst accents ever. Mispronounced words. No personality. Awful!

1-3
1. over use of descriptive words
there was a lot of set up in this book, almost the entire book was to set up the story
2. the descriptions get better
the plot forms
more characters introduced
the writing improves
3. Explosive fight scenes!
This book was the best of all of them. Well rounded characters
Overall, this is a great series. The connections made in this story telling, blew me away and are 100% believable. I would absolutely read any short stories associated with any of these characters. I also cried over the smaller characters of the story. I will read more of his work. His kickstarter is launching soon for the 3rd book in this series.

Surprisingly great!
This book is a hard starter. The first seven chapters or so seems a jumbled mess, and the author sounds robotic without conviction or emotion. That been said, STICK WITH IT! I have listened to literally hundreds of fantasy books and this has definitely made my top ten. The story is huge and incredibly well written, and the author slips into his characters more and more as the story progresses. Increadably impressed and will listen to again.

Proper pronounciation
This was a great story good sense of humour and great action scenes However, American narrators really need to learn the proper pronounciation of celtic mythological names it's hard to listen to a narrator that constantly says all the names wrong. He seemed to have done his homework on the Latin Greek and Egyptians but dived straight in to the Irish names with no research done.

Obsessed: Myths coming to light and Fun
Loved it. Up my street. Got obsessed that it diverted my productivity and I got lost into it. Watch out if you do want to get work done.

Epic beyond imagining
The best book for anyone who loves mythology and complex plots, it really is a master piece.
