Publisher's Summary

When treading the path of ascension, you'd better watch your step.

After incursions of demons from another plane of existence changed the course of history, humanity learned one undeniable truth: traditional weapons wouldn't cut it. Those strong enough to resist cultivated their Ki, and emerged as Heroes of Ascension to combat the demonic threat.

For two hopeful Ascendants, J and Alex, this journey begins at Wyvern Academy. But surviving in one of the world's top battle academies isn't the only thing they have to worry about. Fellow students, rivals, beautiful girls, and treacherous exams stand in the way of their first steps on the path of ascension.

Wyvern Academy is a harem cultivation series inspired by Japanese Light Novels as well as a deep love and respect for anime, kung fu, martial arts, and battle academy adventures. It contains some explicit adult content, unconventional relationships, and violence.

Lacks focus

This should have been a slam dunk. Twenty somethings going to a school to learn how to fight demons. However this book has two main characters with two storylines. One is a cute fish out of water with a decent person as the MC. The other is about rough and emotionally scared tough guy.

Now I think this could have been a fine book if you focused on one and the other had the occasional chapter. But the constant flipping back and forth after every chapter gave me a sensation of whiplash. You never have enough time with a character and the scene always ends abruptly.

Rebecca and Daniel do a good job. They basically have this down to a science.

Should of just focused on Alex

So this book has two protagonists which is already weird.
This is also a harem and that has the two protagonists progressing at vastly different rates and building a harem but drawing from the same pool of potential harem members.
That is already problematic but each of the protagonists are roommates one is a quiet underdog who spends his time focusing on developing his technique while the other one is a meat head who focuses on hardening his body when he's not trying to smash every skirt he sees.

Added together, this gives a huge sense of whiplash as the story trades off each character each chapter.
It also doesn't help that the dude bro is a douchebag with a "dark and edgy past" and also happens to get all of the effing girls because of his badboy vibes while the taking pitty on his weeb roomie and even though the character of Jay, the dude bro says he likes Alex he constantly refers to him as "the Weeb" because he's a quieter intellectual.
Which is weird, Alex is a good character, nice guy but doesn't take any shit form anyone. He also doesn't try use his bravado as a shield like Jay.

I would have liked this book a lot more had it focused on Alex and had Jay as a side character.
It's the classic intellectual MC versus the Meathead MC. And I am so tired of dudebro MC's who rely on their bad boy actor instead of being good characters to get women.

no thanks

1 of the main characters is the douchebag bro types. Can't stand people like that in real life. Don't want to sit through a book with one.

I love this book

So glad i picked this up. This is a story about a "cultivation" school. Think martial arts and cultivation meets a college setting (and we all know what kids do at college). Not the typical cultivation as in they don't sit around meditating to gain power. Or at least its not a central focus. Its life as it would be if the world was facing a demonic threat, and it took years to train people to fight that threat. Normal weapons do not work, so they have to gain these powers to fight the "demons". In this book it mostly focuses' around them figuring out how to handle all the power they are about to be handed. The voice actors are awesome in this as well.

fully recommended.

stopped half hour in heres why

you have here a failure of a concept. first you have 2 charcters both written in a first person perspective cramed into an 8 hour book both with about equal time so you have 2 4 hour books happening simultaneously I dont know who thought this was a good idea In a cultivation academy harem boom but It falls short for me and hoping for a refund

Awesome Martial Arts

It’s Wuxia and Harem with a dose of realism that makes it believable and enjoyable.

fun cultivation harem story!

Great story and narration!

This is a story about two young men from different walks of life whose dream it is to attend a renowned cultivation School and become heroes that fight the demons that are invading their world. Naturally harems ensue.

Daniel and Rebecca do a fantastic job with the narration!

I really enjoyed the story and can't wait to find out what happens in the next book!

Excellent new series!

2 amazing authors combined together to write an absolutely superb book. Each author took on the perspective of a MC,and combined them together seamlessly. In addition, I the narrators did an absolutely fantastic job!

Well written! Exciting Action! Hot Girls!

Kane and Sinclair are a very talented writing team. They had me in the palm of their hands on page one. Great characters and martial arts action. The narration is incredible especially Rebecca Woods. Don't hesitate, buy now.

A really good book.

Listening to this book was a lot of fun.
Not your typical academy-harem light novel.
10 out of 10.

Not great

I had high hopes for this book. I had enjoyed the reincarnated core series and was hoping for something similar, but this struck the wrong note for me. I can't put my finger on it, and I really wanted to like it, but it really rubbed me the wrong way.
