Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships, and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. By all accounts, even his own, he was a coward. Too afraid to move forward, to take risks. Yet when given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he didn't hesitate. Moments before his untimely demise, Felix was snatched from earth and thrust into a magical world known only as "The Continent". Empowered by the "System", he learns that he can strengthen himself through combat and dedication.

Publisher's Summary
When Boreas died on that surgical table back in his home world, his mortal body remained on Earth, but his soul, striving for something more, was reborn. In another world, he became Hadjar Darkhan, the son of a King and Queen. He had only his neural network and the burning aches and desires from his previous life to guide him.
It took him years to become the Mad General, a man who possesses a sober mind, a steadfast heart, strong hands, and sharp eyes. He followed the path of a warrior, defeated countless enemies, and he saw Death more often than anyone else in this Nameless World.
Now, there is nothing that could make Hadjar Darkhan tremble with horror. He survived the war for the throne of his homeland, battles against monsters out of myth, even the destruction of an ancient civilization's last remaining fragments in the Sea of Sand.
Answering the call of his dragon heart, he is ready to do everything to achieve his great, almost foolishly noble goal. He is challenging the whole world, and no Emperor, god, or demon will stop him.

this continues to be a fantastic series
Really enjoying this series. It continues to have a great story line, with unique support characters and an enjoyable path for the MC. I hope that Kevin Collins stays the narrator of this series as he's done such a great job so far. I do wish the opposition characters had a little more variety in the "I'm mad, let's fight" voices. The "lower your voice and yell" voice that's associated with everyone makes it tough in larger fights. It would nice to hear more variety. That said, I'm certain none of us can really understand how difficult narration is and I hope Collins continues to be the narrator of this and many other series.
** I admit I'm doing a copy/paste on this series. I didn't review them when I listened to them but felt these books deserved a review.

I'm so in love with this story.
This series has been so very long and it just keeps getting better. The depth of the characters in this is amazing. Tom's choices, Morgan, Akana all are so deep and you never realize it until the big moments. I've read some many stories that I can often guess what's going to happen. this series keeps on surprising me. 100/10 is its true ranking. 👍 😔

Another awesome volume
Already read the kindle version and looked forward to the audible and it didn’t disappoint. Every volume you learn a little more about Hadjar and the world but then more questions appear. Love that the cultivation isn’t just straight forward either. You can’t just sit and meditate and become stronger. Best of all the taking of lives actually effects Hadjar. It’s realistic in that sense. Looking forward to listening to volume 13.

Story is a bloody mess.
I am done with this series, the writing is poor, the story makes no damn sense with zero continuity, the fights are poorly written the authors perception of scale and numbers is so skewd it is unreal oh and the poorly worded metaphors and comparisons all the damn time are tedious, its power scaling structure is so confusing it is actually painful to try and figure out, our protagonist is a nut sack you cannot relate to and is generally unlikable and gets asspulls for days, which never seem to matter as minutes later some other dude/dudette shows up and makes it pointless, the supporting cast of side characters are equally vapid being equally as unlikable, story over the last 11 books has gone nowhere zero progression of the plot.
performance is pretty meh as well, zero improvement despite 14 books and oh god the whisper shouting has to stop.
Summary:
Verbal diarrhea.
